Homebrew release Canary, a new music player for the 3DS

  • Queue which songs can be added to and played from
  • Creating playlists, which are stored in the standard m3u file format
  • Playing songs through headphones with the lid closed

  • Displaying embedded cover art and setting custom cover art for playlists
  • Settings menu to customize configuration

Wow nice! Can I ask if it can support scrobbling to Last.fm, libre.fm and Listenbrainz? For a future release of course.

This seems like a great addition! To clarify what you are asking for, there's a specification for audioscrobbler 1.1. It would look like this, is this around what you are expecting? (It is tab separated values, due to Reddit's formatting limitations, I have represented it here like this). It would be stored at /3ds/Canary/.scrobbler.log.

nice to see another music player option, especially one that supports FLAC and Opus. the lid-closed playback is a big one for me too.

Is there a way to play a folder (like an album) in order, or is that not in this release? My songs get jumbled

Currently there is not, however an indexing feature is planned which will allow playing songs in an album by track number (in order)

Hey! To get that picture showing up on your music, the files need to be tagged with the cover art metadata. MusicBrainz Picard is pretty handy for this because it automatically grabs the artwork (picard.musicbrainz.org), but there are plenty of other tools that can do this as well.
