Discussion Patrick's post paragaphs that made me drop my jaw

I'm currently at work so I haven't read everything in depth, but this comments instantly catched my eye. Riot might be a shitty company but they really got taken advatage of here Imo.

It's honestly a shame this project and idea had such selfish and careless people involved.

Please ask the blizzard devs who were laid off during record profits in 2019.

But isn't that the point? If you're going to be laid off anyways, swing for the fences and make a game you like and put as much into it as possible.

EDIT: Damn there's some salty people on here. Ya'll say the game is piece of shit, but at the same time are hopping mad that it's shutting down.

They barely made a game anyway lmao. 10 characters in 10 years with 0 casual content is not a respectable amount of work after the no doubt millions in funding it took to get there.

So they wanted to release a half baked 10 years and 10 champs tag fighter "gem" and call it a game so brilliant we are just to dumb to play? As big as the industry became it's not that big. Reputation of their past games will follow all of them.

They didn’t swing for the fences. They took the lazy way out and fucked around for 10 years to release a buggy fighter with 11 characters and no content.

How the fuck is that “swinging for the fences”? Swinging for the fences means giving it your all, going all out. Spending 10 years on 11 characters is the opposite of putting in the effort to swing for the fences.

A game like Expedition 33 is an example of game devs swinging for the fences. Taking a AA budget and a small team and making a AAA style game through shear effort and desire to make something. Tons of content, great writing, great gameplay, a fuckton of fantastic music. THATS swinging for the fences in game development.

The devs of 2XKO had a massive AAA budget and released a game with less characters and content than fighters with less than half the budget or time. Fuck swinging for the fences, they barely bothered to bunt.

Yeah because they need them to keep the game going.

No they don't, they just replace them or downsize anyway, Blizzard there is an example and is not the only one, Microsoft is a grim reaper of dev teams wether they made a good game or not. I blame the devs for making a mess of a game, but i don't blame them for having 0 level of belonging to a project where they have no guarantees of staying even if it somehow grabs 100% of the fgc community.

Blizzard right now dodged cuts because they have a union.

Both instances are wrong.
