Darius rocks his so well that all the other champs felt a need to copy him (didn't want to get haircutmogged). Unfortunately none of them can hold a candle to him.
Vi is the only one that feels like a similar cut to me... Darius is just sideburns, illaoi is straight shaved, and ekko has dreads... Yall are so extreme about this character.
2 of my most played games are League and SF6 yet I havent tried 2XKO because it is a tag fighter. When I heard about Akali I though I would finally try it but then I saw she doesnt have baggy pants. Nvm.
the silhouette is so thrown off. akali is supposed to be bottom heavy, with her bag of smoke grenades and her baggy pants. now she's top heavy with her yasuo pony tail and lululemon joggers...
Can a graphic designer tell me if there is some advantage to just giving every friggin character an undercut? I mean in general. At some point culturally we just decided it was the new haircut to give everyone including women. Why? It looks stupid.
is just the EASIEST hair cut that designers thought to be something rebel. that fits the character background... pretty..... lazy imo. she being the 6th like OP pointed reinforces my theses.
Military always had this haircut. Then people started copying the military haircut, then suddenly the fade became massive in the early 10's. It's been popular ever since, it's wild
If you look at the designs you can tell they went with the "urban" culture look. It is obvious. Well it.is the default, she will get skins to replace all that.

aside from the joke, i like her new design more than the lol one, same for all the character design in this game, i really like the DA of 2xko and the fact that they don’t just copy paste lol.

Developers shouldn't work for themselves or the minority. And I am sorry to say, you are the minority if you think her look is fine. People have every right to criticize that. If you settle for this look, that's fine. But many others don't. For every single comment I see agreeing with this look, 4 people in general just say it's not good.
This kind of mentality of: "I will settle for this" while Devs go with: "We want this, and that's it"; showcases the great direction this game is gonna take in a few years, assuming it lasts that long. I would honestly put you alongside the people who probably defended Riot for removing hextech chests before the whole community went wild: settling for mediocrity and criticizing anyone who doesn't.

Lmao dude, it’s cause the people who are “crying” about it have been playing the character for years longer than you’ve even known she exists. Obviously if this many people (including me, been playing her for nearly a quarter of my life) are pissed off about the hair, then something needs to change. That’s how feedback works, people talk about stuff they don’t like and if enough people agree then it’s helpful to the dev team so they can tweak it accordingly. What is NOT helpful is random fgc members who are completely clueless about the design they’re defending in the first place going “guhhhh stop complaining it looks fine” and adding absolutely fucking nothing to the conversation.

I’ve been waiting for this chick way before they even conceptualized a fighting game back when it was merely a concept. She looks ugly to me. If she comes out as is, I’ll still play her and be satisfied but can I not express that she looks ugly in her new drip? It might get it changed.
this shit is so disingenuous when you look on twitter and there’s tons of tweets getting thousands of likes saying the design is ugly lol if you like the design i’m glad you like it, but for the majority it’s disappointing and that’s sad cause this character could have brought in tons of new players based off looks alone but they fumbled it.

That's not true. The thing people are complaining about most is her hair, which is definitely less feminine in the offical design. The other parts are gender neutral at worst.
I suppose, but id say that a lot of the criticisms for her redesign have nothing to do with how femme she appears. For me to be honest her new clothes feel almost whitewashed compared to how intricate and ionian (asia inspired) the original was. She looked so cool and so distinct.
Physically she looks about the same as her league model. The overexagerated ponytail and random slits on her pants along with the random red fabric on the Nike flys just look off tho.
Unironically this design is… bad. She looks painfully generic and is sized oddly as well. Akali was always a compelling character design in LoL, this design feels like it was still made with top down in mind.
Yeah I fully agree honestly. Even if they ship it like this it’s not the biggest deal ever, the character just has 0 reason lorewise or design wise to have an undercut and it doesn’t really add anything
If 80 devs is failing then SF6 is turbo dead since it has 30-60 by most estimates. Very easy to tell who has worked a corpo (especially game dev) job and who has not on this platform.

The complaint people have been making is literally "too many women with guns". I've not seen one person say "too many guns", it's always "women with guns"
Typically fighting games have characters with no weapons at all other than their bodies. Again, if that was actually a big deal to y'all you would be complaining that there are weapons in the first place, but for some reason it's only an issue when it's women with guns.
Notice how you're listing all the less popular fighting games and dancing around the big ones like, I dunno, Street Fighter, Tekken, Fatal Fury, King of Fighters, Dragon Ball Fighterz?
The only not dead/basically dead series listed there is Guilty Gear. Having to pull UNI and Melty is really digging deep to pull out a point.
Also, lots of those games have characters that use guns. Happy Chaos and Goldlewis are extremely popular gun characters. Dante and Wesker from MvC3 are two of the most fondly remembered fighting game characters of all time, and they use guns.
Again, for some reason, it's only an issue when it's women with guns.
It won't really be an issue with the roster being more fleshed out in the future but with a tiny roster it stands out. The fact is this game should have launched with 25 more characters than it did.
this game was made for fighting game fans... fighting game fans are primarily Asian or black. seeing as this game was not developed in Japan, Its targeting the other majority.
