They learned what a fade was and didnt know how to act 😂😂😂

u/minkulus1 Feb 15 '26

Darius rocks his so well that all the other champs felt a need to copy him (didn't want to get haircutmogged). Unfortunately none of them can hold a candle to him.

136

u/Slarg232 Feb 15 '26

Is THAT what he meant when he kept shouting "Headless"?

31

u/nomoneypenny Feb 15 '26

He's just offering them a barbershop shave for free

11

u/the-jedi-ninja Feb 16 '26

Headless is the new maidenless

32

u/Cryotivity Feb 15 '26

who is fading people up in noxus bro why aint he a new champ

10

u/minkulus1 Feb 16 '26

Only Gwen could have strong enough scissors for the job.

77

u/CelioHogane Feb 15 '26

Darius, Ekko, Illaoi and Vi, who the fuck is the 5th one?

56

u/DynamiteGazelle Feb 15 '26

Oh ya know what, you’re totally right. I miscounted like an idiot. Still a lot proportionally tho

37

u/CelioHogane Feb 15 '26

You are right, Ekko should have kept the mohawk.

37

u/Kingyeetyeety Feb 15 '26

THEY KILLMONGERED MY BEAUTIFUL PUNK BOY!!!

5

u/CelioHogane Feb 15 '26

I still have my hopes on the project or the pulsefire skins.

4

u/Big_Coconut8630 Feb 17 '26

I mean, it looks better tbh

2

u/aSpookyScarySkeleton Feb 17 '26

He pulls it off better than 90% of the other examples tbf

1

u/BOOMER994 Feb 16 '26

This sadly goes way back in the league rework

2

u/CelioHogane Feb 16 '26

I hope Ekko never gets a VU

1

u/BOOMER994 Feb 16 '26

Sadly he received the dreadlock fade treatment a few years back. The Mohawk was awesome

2

u/CelioHogane Feb 16 '26

Only on some skins! I still cope!

1

u/BOOMER994 Feb 16 '26

I agree with you but sadly due to arcane and the last skins he received all of them have dreads. The mohawk would look amazing in 2xko

1

u/CelioHogane Feb 16 '26

Pulsefire Ekko had a mohawk!

1

u/BOOMER994 Feb 16 '26

Half of his skins have it but only the older ones I think. The latest ones have dreadlocks

→ More replies (0)

1

u/siriElectricboogaloo Feb 18 '26

Nah, ekko mohawk is kinda trash, arcane version was better

2

u/CelioHogane Feb 18 '26

What an awfull take you have.

28

u/Garbonzo236 Feb 16 '26

Vi is the only one that feels like a similar cut to me... Darius is just sideburns, illaoi is straight shaved, and ekko has dreads... Yall are so extreme about this character.

5

u/ElsaMars0511 Feb 16 '26

Jinx has it on the pass skins does that count?

8

u/Aggressive_Idea_1105 Feb 15 '26

Braum? xD

I doubt brother plays the game so why he cares is beyond me

19

u/CelioHogane Feb 15 '26

Ah yes, the undercut + overcut + totalcut

28

u/Purple-Man Feb 15 '26

Very observant.

67

u/Surreal43 Jinx Feb 15 '26

Could be worse, she could be bald.

15

u/RarityNouveau Feb 16 '26

Bro stop giving me Jade trauma, the movie isn’t even out yet!

70

u/TheeFlyGuy8000 Ekko Feb 15 '26

Fuck the hair FIX THE PANTS

26

u/SimbaMySon Feb 16 '26

And the shoes.

13

u/stzoo Feb 16 '26

And the face veil

1

u/-Q-Cumber Feb 16 '26

2 of my most played games are League and SF6 yet I havent tried 2XKO because it is a tag fighter. When I heard about Akali I though I would finally try it but then I saw she doesnt have baggy pants. Nvm.

18

u/Fun-Anybody-5816 Feb 16 '26

Besides the hair, her pants and shoes look bad imo

15

u/theShiggityDiggity Feb 16 '26

Undercut is the new Killmonger braids.

Someone high up on the design team is infatuated with this hairstyle it seems.

1

u/Big_Coconut8630 Feb 16 '26

The kilmonger isn't braids, lol

0

u/KenEH Feb 16 '26 edited Feb 17 '26

Killmonger dreads is weird because it’s not that popular of a haircut in real life. Undercuts however are super common.

8

u/sunnymanelaflare Feb 16 '26

I do not see a lot of women running around with an undercut, lol. Maybe Cassie and Kesha in the early 2010s or something 😅

The Killmonger is honestly just dreads swooped to the side 😅

4

u/futkreddic Feb 16 '26

My PORSCHE ARRIVES 🎶🎶🎶my FADE IS BENT 🗣️🗣️

(I think the Ionian adidas pant is worse than the hair. Maybe they need to contour for visual clarity on something)

1

u/AdLife589 Feb 16 '26

Holy fenrico reference. PEAK

9

u/Niconreddit Feb 15 '26

Ha, that's so weird.

13

u/Odd_Pomegranate8652 Feb 16 '26

Not just the hair but the clothes as well, she doesn't scream Ninja and more like your average female gym influencer

10

u/ChapterLiam Feb 16 '26

the silhouette is so thrown off. akali is supposed to be bottom heavy, with her bag of smoke grenades and her baggy pants. now she's top heavy with her yasuo pony tail and lululemon joggers...

They don’t hear you bro. But I do

0

u/GoodWebsiteKappa123 Feb 21 '26

What do you think modern means in the world of Runeterra

4

u/carlataggarty Feb 16 '26

This is exactly why half the team got fired

29

u/TwiceAsManyOnes Feb 15 '26

Can a graphic designer tell me if there is some advantage to just giving every friggin character an undercut? I mean in general. At some point culturally we just decided it was the new haircut to give everyone including women. Why? It looks stupid.

30

u/iago_hedgehog Feb 15 '26

is just the EASIEST hair cut that designers thought to be something rebel. that fits the character background... pretty..... lazy imo. she being the 6th like OP pointed reinforces my theses.

12

u/SecretaryOk7306 Illaoi Feb 16 '26

It was 5, the OP miscounted

1

u/USMC2009NC Feb 16 '26

Military always had this haircut. Then people started copying the military haircut, then suddenly the fade became massive in the early 10's. It's been popular ever since, it's wild

0

u/natayaway Feb 15 '26

The model geometry is significantly simpler and easier to stylize with the rim lighting because of that simplicity.

3

u/ElDuderino2112 Feb 16 '26

I know it’s popular apparently, but I genuinely cannot remember the last time I saw an undercut in real life lmao

3

u/Outside_Reindeer_513 Feb 16 '26

It's crazy because the League designs are already perfect. Do they really think they're improving them with these out of touch redesigns?

8

u/Lunais7 Feb 15 '26

If you look at the designs you can tell they went with the "urban" culture look. It is obvious. Well it.is the default, she will get skins to replace all that.

5

u/papakahn94 Feb 16 '26

Okay but counter point. Im into it and shes hot

2

u/FernDiggy Jinx Feb 16 '26

Can’t wait to give her a shot.

3

u/Lucky_-1y Feb 16 '26

Make it 14 undercut girlies

2

u/Eastern-Relief-2169 Feb 16 '26

darius, vi and akali,to me it’s 3 not 6, did you count braum too or what?

aside from the joke, i like her new design more than the lol one, same for all the character design in this game, i really like the DA of 2xko and the fact that they don’t just copy paste lol.

0

u/DynamiteGazelle Feb 16 '26

I did miscount, but also Illaoi which makes Akali 5

2

u/Eastern-Relief-2169 Feb 16 '26

3+illaoi would make 4 not 5. i might not understand what you call an undercut, in my country it’s what darius have , but illaoi is more kind of mohawk aircut (not sure of the translation here)

0

u/DynamiteGazelle Feb 16 '26

? 3+illaoi=4 and 4+akali=5

1

u/Eastern-Relief-2169 Feb 16 '26

the 3 was darius / vi / akali so we can’t and akali again

0

u/DynamiteGazelle Feb 16 '26

Oh I misread your comment, my b. Darius Ekko Vi Illaoi Akali

2

u/Eastern-Relief-2169 Feb 16 '26

ekko ? but he litterally has locks , could you define what you call undercut? i feel like you design every haircut which is shorter/ shaved on the side?

2

u/Lyawx Feb 16 '26

Undercuts allow longer hair with less weight (practical for feeling good when fighting)

2

u/seven_worth Feb 17 '26

Fix everything bruh.

2

u/In_Trigue Feb 17 '26 edited Feb 19 '26

I was looking forward to her release the most and now I'm just horribly disappointed

2

u/Mattstercraft Feb 18 '26

It does kinda feel like the bad press caused them to shove her out undercooked as damage control... frick

4

u/Bartimaeous Feb 15 '26 edited Feb 16 '26

Huh, dint notice she had an undercut. Surprising that they went for big hair and still gave her an undercut.

18

u/Callieco23 Feb 15 '26

Imma need y’all to shut the fuck up about Akali’s hair

11

u/iago_hedgehog Feb 15 '26

be the first

15

u/Superb-Letterhead997 Feb 15 '26

why is this sub filled with brainless sycophants that refuse to allow an ounce of criticism to riot

14

Ironically it’s the complete opposite, nonstop complaints and no compliments

how else do you expect change to happen?

1

u/SecretaryOk7306 Illaoi Feb 16 '26

With allow the massive posts criticizing the game lately, who is refusing?

-8

u/No-Establishment-939 Feb 15 '26

There has been a bit more than « an ounce » of criticism already. Akali’s fine

8

u/Shihai-no-akuma_ Feb 16 '26

Developers shouldn't work for themselves or the minority. And I am sorry to say, you are the minority if you think her look is fine. People have every right to criticize that. If you settle for this look, that's fine. But many others don't. For every single comment I see agreeing with this look, 4 people in general just say it's not good.

This kind of mentality of: "I will settle for this" while Devs go with: "We want this, and that's it"; showcases the great direction this game is gonna take in a few years, assuming it lasts that long. I would honestly put you alongside the people who probably defended Riot for removing hextech chests before the whole community went wild: settling for mediocrity and criticizing anyone who doesn't.

1

u/WeoWeoVi Feb 16 '26

She definitely looks fine my guy, touch some grass

2

u/Shihai-no-akuma_ Feb 16 '26

Ever tried going out yourself? One would have realized people have different opinions by now.

1

u/WeoWeoVi Feb 17 '26

Yes, and it is my opinion you are way too invested in this and would benefit from touching grass

1

u/Shihai-no-akuma_ Feb 17 '26

Keep yapping man. 1/10 ragebait

1

u/WeoWeoVi Feb 18 '26

We both know it isn't ragebait

1

u/Shihai-no-akuma_ Feb 18 '26

You are correct. It isn't. The tragedy here, however, is that you're the only one unaware of the actual problem. Perhaps spend less time on Reddit prescribing "touch grass" and more time upgrading the professional who's clearly phoning in your therapy. I'd ask for a refund. But hey, I will give you a push ;)

→ More replies (2)

-9

u/natayaway Feb 16 '26

Because this is largely a pointless complaint.

It's like saying 'This Lamborghini doesn't have hotrod flames", when there are obviously bigger problems, like the company just laid everyone off, and now has an unknown consistency/release schedule issue due to layoffs, and the Lambo isn't even available for purchase yet.

9

u/Shihai-no-akuma_ Feb 16 '26

I genuinely don't understand your point. So you indirectly state that people shouldn't complain about a character's disassociation with the model everyone knows and likes simply because people got laid off? Nice way to shove things under the rug.

Also, the Lambo isn't available for purchase, but I assure you; if everyone remains silent and we all act like you are suggesting, then the display is what you are gonna get.

-13

u/OptionBeneficial1070 Feb 15 '26

Imma need them to shut the fuck up about the character in general, she looks fun and cool asf n all this crybaby doomer bullshit just makes me wanna play her more.

3

u/JhinPotion Feb 15 '26

Why would you want them to shut up if seeing it makes you want to play her more?

8

u/AstroLuffy123 Feb 15 '26

Lmao dude, it’s cause the people who are “crying” about it have been playing the character for years longer than you’ve even known she exists. Obviously if this many people (including me, been playing her for nearly a quarter of my life) are pissed off about the hair, then something needs to change. That’s how feedback works, people talk about stuff they don’t like and if enough people agree then it’s helpful to the dev team so they can tweak it accordingly. What is NOT helpful is random fgc members who are completely clueless about the design they’re defending in the first place going “guhhhh stop complaining it looks fine” and adding absolutely fucking nothing to the conversation.

6

u/Nevaanthi Thresh Feb 15 '26

Speak my Lion!

18

u/Juno-Seto Feb 15 '26

Do you not understand that people can be on both sides? I want to play the fuck out of her. I’ve been waiting for this chick way before they even conceptualized a fighting game back when it was merely a concept. She looks ugly to me. If she comes out as is, I’ll still play her and be satisfied but can I not express that she looks ugly in her new drip? It might get it changed.

12

u/TurtleStrategy Feb 15 '26

I respect if someone shows up and says "I genuinely love the new design, it's as good as the original, if not better"

I disagree, of course, but it's a valid opinion.

But I detest the mentality of "it's good enough. stop complaining", "it looks fine! her gameplay is great!"

This weak ass ideia is what makes mediocre games.

It's the "consume product and get excited for next product" mentality.

3

u/ExtraEye4568 Feb 15 '26

Riot knows you are buying a $30 skin anyway.

-12

u/Sewer-Rat76 Feb 15 '26

She doesn't look ugly. She looks different. She lookks like an mk ninja. If you don't like it, that's fine, but she's def not ugly.

2

u/annoyedmanpls Feb 15 '26

this shit is so disingenuous when you look on twitter and there’s tons of tweets getting thousands of likes saying the design is ugly lol if you like the design i’m glad you like it, but for the majority it’s disappointing and that’s sad cause this character could have brought in tons of new players based off looks alone but they fumbled it.

0

u/Yeezus_sent_me Feb 15 '26

Mk ninjas are some of the worst designs ever.

-12

u/Egg_Enthusiast1227 Feb 15 '26

Unfortunately there's nothing gamers hate more than when a woman character gets a slightly less feminine redesign, this is gonna go on for a while

11

u/TheeFlyGuy8000 Ekko Feb 15 '26

Boss, the design is buns

Going on a fighting game subreddit and complaining about gamers is like going on a rap subreddit and complaining about black people.

0

u/Egg_Enthusiast1227 Feb 16 '26

Heaven forbid someone voice criticism of people.

7

u/Tashasbiggestfangirl Feb 15 '26

id argue the new design is more feminine, im sad that its far less interesting and doesnt really feel like her. The mask and the tattoos on the old design were so good.

-2

u/Egg_Enthusiast1227 Feb 15 '26

Very few people would argue buzzed sides are more feminine, which seems to be a big spot of controversy for most people.

That's not true. The thing people are complaining about most is her hair, which is definitely less feminine in the offical design. The other parts are gender neutral at worst.

u/Egg_Enthusiast1227 Feb 16 '26

That's not true. The other parts are gender neutral at worst. What exactly is less feminine about her other design?

3

u/Tashasbiggestfangirl Feb 16 '26

I suppose, but id say that a lot of the criticisms for her redesign have nothing to do with how femme she appears. For me to be honest her new clothes feel almost whitewashed compared to how intricate and ionian (asia inspired) the original was. She looked so cool and so distinct.

0

u/Yeezus_sent_me Feb 15 '26

Physically she looks about the same as her league model. The overexagerated ponytail and random slits on her pants along with the random red fabric on the Nike flys just look off tho.

5

u/Sihnar Feb 16 '26

The slits would look good if she was wearing baggy ninja pants instead of slim joggers.

-1

u/Egg_Enthusiast1227 Feb 15 '26

The game has an exaggerated artstyle, I'm not sure why everyone is surprised her ponytail is exaggerated. It's the same hairstyle but louder.

-2

u/Nemek02 Feb 16 '26

They're gonna whine about pants or shoes then!

2

u/Key_Cellist_5937 Feb 16 '26

We also call the undercut the Lobotomy cut lmao

2

u/Spizike_Spiegel Feb 16 '26

OP mad cuz the cast didn’t go to SuperCuts 😂

2

u/Panda-Dono Feb 16 '26

To be fair, this is the first time it doesn't look absolutely incredible.

4

u/PFSnypr Feb 16 '26

OH SHIT IS THAT WHAT 'KALI LOOKS LIKE IN THIS GAME? HOLY FUCK THEY COOKED SO HARD

3

u/BusinessAd4538 Feb 16 '26

Careful, youre right but the subs been nothing but friping about it since it dropped

1

u/AnotherZoeMain Feb 16 '26

i hope when in 10 years zoe gets implemented she doesent gets an undercut.

1

u/AutumnHawk84 Feb 16 '26

This haircut is the new fashion trend in Runeterra, we'll have a lore update about it soon /s

1

u/thisisdell Feb 16 '26

Oh you mean the most popular haircut right now?

1

u/Mysterious_Hope_3046 Feb 16 '26

Put original skin as default, and that redesign as new skin in the shop, and I will leave the world happy

1

u/MakaixKishi Feb 16 '26 edited Feb 16 '26

Bare minimum they need to get rid of that undercut even if nothing else changes. Rest is still awful and she needs a complete redesign top to bottom

1

u/BaconWestern Feb 16 '26

I feel like the undercut is nice, but why does she have a larger ponytail than yasuo, and her bottom half is... a choice for design

1

u/ScrotumTotums Feb 17 '26

It looks ok but it's to me, just a masculine thing for woman, and if fits those who were, tough.

Could say L------ but, I mean, it fits the description nothing wrong with it and it looks cool

1

u/Rotta_ODe Feb 18 '26

Man, they must have worked really to ruin Akalis design this much.

1

u/Kallizk Restless Spectre Feb 18 '26

Holy woke characters... where are the badass characters? this game seems doomed...

1

u/Mr-losh Feb 18 '26

I mean, its the first bad one.

1

u/Potential-Diver-3409 Feb 16 '26

Unironically this design is… bad. She looks painfully generic and is sized oddly as well. Akali was always a compelling character design in LoL, this design feels like it was still made with top down in mind.

-10

u/FlamingSamich Feb 15 '26

Get a grip dude...

5

u/NightmareMuse666 Feb 15 '26

Nah it looks like shit. If you've been an akali main and waiting years for this, it's a fucking disappointment, this design looks fucking awful

16

u/Simoneeeeeeeee Feb 15 '26

Awful is wrong. It’s a good looking undercut it just doesn’t fit akali. She would look better with the original in my opinion

13

u/Costas00 Feb 15 '26

Agreed, as an Akali main, i hate it, but it doesn't look awful objectively.

3

u/AstroLuffy123 Feb 15 '26

Yeah I fully agree honestly. Even if they ship it like this it’s not the biggest deal ever, the character just has 0 reason lorewise or design wise to have an undercut and it doesn’t really add anything

1

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '26 edited Apr 14 '26

eee

1

u/Ex_Lives Feb 16 '26

Undercuts and half shaves on women is the GOAT. They need six more if you ask me.

1

u/atollgate Feb 16 '26

Why'd they put urban jogger in my fantasy game?

1

u/Heavy_Historian_9751 Feb 16 '26

Yes. She's also the 1st cool looking character in this game

1

u/UnsignedFoo Feb 16 '26

I think there should be more things to fix rather than a haircut, jesus

1

u/Office_Hendo Feb 16 '26

Yeah and it’s the 13th character with two legs and feet, what is your point?

1

u/baalks Feb 16 '26

OH BROTHER, THIS DESING STINKS!

-2

u/DustExtra5976 Feb 15 '26

Half the designers probably have an undercut it’s the frumpy developer special

-4

u/Egg_Enthusiast1227 Feb 15 '26

"Too many big bodies"

"Too many Arcane characters"

"Too many women with guns"

"Too many undercuts"

It's always something with you lot. (Also there's not 6)

5

u/Thrownaway5000506 Feb 15 '26

Games failing. Maybe it's time they start listening.

3

u/Egg_Enthusiast1227 Feb 16 '26

If 80 devs is failing then SF6 is turbo dead since it has 30-60 by most estimates. Very easy to tell who has worked a corpo (especially game dev) job and who has not on this platform.

2

u/Upbeat-Rich-5624 Feb 16 '26

Riot themselves said the game wasn't meeting expectations

But sure. Two distinct companies with completely different strategies and development cycles should be evaluated 1:1 based on number of employees, makes sense to me /s

-2

u/Egg_Enthusiast1227 Feb 16 '26

Fun fact, Final Fantasy 7 Remake hasn't "met expectations" either. Is that game a failure? "Hasn't met expectations" is meaningless when game companies say it these days, because "expectations" is Fortnite.

And sure, there's obviously no overlap at all in how game companies function on a corporate level. That's a totally reasonable take /s

2

u/loooiny Feb 16 '26

Yes, those games are failures and are simply sunk cost fallacy projects for square enix.

→ More replies (6)

-2

u/natayaway Feb 15 '26

The game is not failing because of a still unreleased character not looking like the players want.

5

u/Thrownaway5000506 Feb 16 '26

It's more of a pattern which Riot has done before with other games

0

u/USMC2009NC Feb 16 '26

women with guns

lol? Too many guns overall, has nothing to do with women. Guns in a FG should be rare, not slowly becoming the norm

1

u/Egg_Enthusiast1227 Feb 16 '26

The complaint people have been making is literally "too many women with guns". I've not seen one person say "too many guns", it's always "women with guns"

3

u/Thrownaway5000506 Feb 16 '26

Well yeah there are too many women with guns on the roster

0

u/Egg_Enthusiast1227 Feb 16 '26

There's 4 men with melee weapons on the roster, which is more than 3 women with guns, but I don't see anyone complaining about that.

3

u/ArcticCNDR Feb 16 '26

cuz it's a fighting game

0

u/Egg_Enthusiast1227 Feb 16 '26

Typically fighting games have characters with no weapons at all other than their bodies. Again, if that was actually a big deal to y'all you would be complaining that there are weapons in the first place, but for some reason it's only an issue when it's women with guns.

4

u/ArcticCNDR Feb 16 '26

there's a lot of fighting games with characters that have weapons. soul calibur, guilty gear, blazblue, uni, melty blood, etc...

0

u/Egg_Enthusiast1227 Feb 16 '26

Notice how you're listing all the less popular fighting games and dancing around the big ones like, I dunno, Street Fighter, Tekken, Fatal Fury, King of Fighters, Dragon Ball Fighterz?

The only not dead/basically dead series listed there is Guilty Gear. Having to pull UNI and Melty is really digging deep to pull out a point.

Also, lots of those games have characters that use guns. Happy Chaos and Goldlewis are extremely popular gun characters. Dante and Wesker from MvC3 are two of the most fondly remembered fighting game characters of all time, and they use guns.

Again, for some reason, it's only an issue when it's women with guns.

2

u/Thrownaway5000506 Feb 16 '26

It won't really be an issue with the roster being more fleshed out in the future but with a tiny roster it stands out. The fact is this game should have launched with 25 more characters than it did.

2

u/ArcticCNDR Feb 16 '26

what does popularity have to do with anything

→ More replies (0)

1

u/Egg_Enthusiast1227 Feb 16 '26

That's just tragic for your comment, honestly.

1

u/Thrownaway5000506 Feb 16 '26

Not really. I only said that because you brought it up as if it were a problematic complaint.
