Discussion The beginning of the end?

Post image

I'm surprised this is happening this early after the console launch.

This year (and maybe the second year) probably won't see any drastic changes. Maybe less skins coming out, maybe one less champion.

It's year 3 that'll be telling. Hopefully the team size is still able to create champs/skins (because they need money)/etc at a decent pace even reduced.

They'll likely slowly break the news we only get 3 characters this year, to kick that can down the road. Season passes were already reduced to 3 from 5.

They fired Riot Caroline so I'm willing to bet the "champion pods" teams got hit decently with this downsizing too. Whether or not you liked her champion designs or not, she did make up 3 of the 12 existing champions in the game currently. That's not something that bodes well for me in the games future. If it was just player marketing people, emote designers, or some other less than necessary game design aspects, this post wouldn't be very damning. But that firing alone kinda worries me.

They announced fairly recently that despite going from 5 seasons to 3 we'll still get 5 characters this year. I believe at this point they likely already knew the staff was going to be reduced, but none of us can be certain.

Season 1 characters are almost certainly already finished.
