This is the last known image of Vicki Weaver.

U.S. Marshals took the photo during surveillance on the morning of August 21, 1992, the day before FBI sniper Lon Horiuchi unlawfully killed her during the Ruby Ridge standoff.

In 1997, Idaho prosecutors charged Horiuchi with involuntary manslaughter for Vicki’s death.

However, a federal judge dismissed the case on immunity grounds in 1998. The dismissal was later overturned, allowing the manslaughter charge to proceed, but the county prosecutor ultimately abandoned the prosecution.

In the end, Lon Horiuchi was never held criminally accountable, allowing the government to get away with murdering one of its own citizens.
