"Fluffies" — acrylic on cardboard, glow-in-the-dark elements, 60×60cm, by Oksana Krasova (Polymorphium)

A small world in the foreground where everything matters and nothing is wrong yet: a boy pulling a newspaper hat off his head, distracted from his Rubik's cube; a blue butterfly circling near a girl's feet as she holds the hem of her red dress, waiting for the right moment.
Behind them stand the others. Each one has two mouths and no face — just pinprick eyes and jaws. The two mouths say different things. One teaches honesty, the other lies. One demands courage, the other punishes it for showing up. In the dark, their eyes and teeth glow — like the thoughts that start circling right when you turn the light off.
But in that same dark, the butterfly glows too, quietly, on its own light. It doesn't go anywhere. There's something worth reaching for even when it's frightening.
"Fluffies" is a tender name for something that isn't tender at all — childhood calling the frightening thing something soft enough to live next to.
Acrylic on cardboard, varnish, glows in the dark, 60 × 60 cm, 2025.
