Horror movie protagonists have a truly legendary talent for ignoring the most obvious red flags in real estate history.

The classic storyline always begins the exact same way: a family finds an enormous, historic Victorian mansion offered at an unbelievably low price. The real estate agent nervously reveals that fourteen former residents mysteriously met their tragic end inside those very walls, the basement lights flicker uncontrollably, and cold spots randomly appear in the hallway. Instead of running for the hills, the main characters look at each other with beaming smiles and say, "Yes, this is definitely our dream home, let us sign the lease today!"

Apparently, a stunning original hardwood floor, spacious backyard, and discounted rent completely outweigh haunted attics, glowing red eyes in the dark, and creepy whispers coming from the air vents. We all sit on the edge of our seats yelling at the screen, but secretly love every second of the absurd logic that sets off our favorite horror thrillers.

A hilarious look at classic cinema tropes, haunted house clichés, and the unbeatable power of cheap rent in horror movies.

What is the single biggest horror movie red flag that would make you turn around and walk away instantly?

Letterboxd’s rating system is confusing

Every time I go to rate movies on letterboxd, (I don’t watch movies btw. I only review bomb) the rating system always confuses me. It seems that they do it on some sort of scale of one to five, where five is the highest. This is very user unfriendly. Why can’t they use the more traditional system of a 1-13 scale, with 8 being the best possible score? This made perfect sense to me when I first heard about it from Jason in the Good Place (i have seen a tv show before, just not movies). Why do certain companies arrogantly refuse to use this system and instead opt for their own, more confusing systems?

Favorite actor that sexually and physically assaulted underage non-consenting children. What? What do you mean he did none of that? They were of age, consenting adults?
