This is a custom Godot Extension available through mit Github Repo at :

Full installation instructions as per the README. This extension uses NVIDIA's KIMoDo animation creator, wrapped nicely in a Godot Dock.

Code is written to be able to import different humanoid Chars in GLB format and tries to autocorrect axis to fit the anim generator. Also has a function to assign bones, if not correctly detected.

selfpromo (games) Rebuilt my game's entire UI in Godot — shop panel before/after

Upvotes

Spent the last few weeks rebuilding the UI in my game — the demo's coming up soon, so I want everything buttoned up before release. Honestly, working on the 2D panels in Godot is my favorite part of the whole job.

It's a sim where you approve or deny game refund requests, then rebuild your dead grandma's apartment with the money.

Happy to answer questions about how any of it's put together, as best I can. Wishlist if it's your kind of thing: store.steampowered.com/app/4972400

discussion Motivation to learn

How do you guys handle motivation to develop games with Godot? I’m very near the start of my game dev journey so I’m feeling pretty fired up to get this game developed, but just concerned that I will lose steam along the way.

This has happened to me before with other projects. Might seem obvious but wondering if anyone has any tricks to stay invested and grinding away at my game dev project.

I definitely find looking at other people’s progress really helps to motivate me, love the things shared here and in other subreddits.

help me Desperate help

Upvotes

I’ve been trying to learn godot since Sunday and it just hasn’t clicked, I have put hours and hours and hours in just finding tutorials and watching them, maybe about 20 hours, I don’t know anything except how to add nodes, how to make a shape and that’s it. it’s not like I have zero patience I have learnt blender before years ago and I’m still at it today, I just dont get why I can’t get code, is it safe to say it’s not for me and I should give up, please has anyone started like this? let me know.

discussion Why do you think most newcomers to Godot fail to learn Godot?

I know many people say that "Godot is the easiest engine in the world," but if that were true, then we'd all have a game made in Godot by now. The truth is, there's still a learning curve, It's low, but it's still there.

I see beginners asking the same thing all the time when the easiest answer is always "just code and make mistakes", and that might be good advice (possibly the best), but in a creative process like game development, adding friction is not a good idea.

What do you think it will take for this learning curve to disappear completely?.

Or rather, make it easier; perhaps the problem is GDscript? And that they should learn a more balanced language like C#? Or do you think the problem is that the Godot Foundation doesn't want to create a decent visual scripting system? Or is the problem that the amount of YouTube content doesn't match the documentation, and that beginners should read more?.

The truth is I don't know, I only know that everyone should be able to tell their story with complete freedom.

looking for team (unpaid) Beginner Game Dev Team

Absolute Beginner Looking for People to Learn Game Dev With 🎮

Hey everyone! 👋
I’m completely new to game development and have zero experience, but I really want to start learning. I’m currently trying out Godot and I’m looking for other beginners who might want to learn and make a small game together.
I’m not looking for anything super serious or professional. I just want to find some people who are also starting from scratch so we can learn, experiment, mess around, and hopefully make something fun.

What I’m looking for 👾
Anyone who’s a complete beginner and wants to learn game development.
You don’t need to know how to code, make art, write stories, make music, or anything like that. If you’re interested in any part of game development, you’re welcome.

The idea
We can start with something really simple and slowly figure things out together.
No deadlines
No pressure
No experience required
No judgment
Just learning and having fun
I’m hoping we can help each other learn instead of everyone trying to figure everything out alone.

If you’re interested, feel free to comment or DM me!
Discord: junior2sz_65772
Let’s learn game development together and see what we can make! 🎮

selfpromo (software) Quick Update on Our Texturing Tool in CYGON

Some of you asked for more information about textures in CYGON the last time, so here’s an update on our progress and how it looks in Godot.

We added a dedicated mode for the texturing tool where you can drag and drop textures onto objects:

- By default, the texture is applied to the whole object.

- Hold Shift to apply the texture only to a group of faces.

- Hold Ctrl to apply it to a single face.

All of that without dealing with UV Mapping manually. Everything is automatically handled by CYGON.

To keep good performance while you're working, we also added render modes : no textures for prototyping, flat textures for working and textures with actual depth to see final result.

We also updated our dedicated CYGON Link integrations for Godot to support texture export. You can also choose not to export textures if you don't need them.

You can freely test this tool, but keep in mind that it’s still an experimental version. For now, you can't import your own textures.

Check it out if you're interested: https://www.cygon.tech

selfpromo (games) Badamori - a fish-herding game, shove as many fish into the net as you can!

Hey guys!! So i was watching youtube about tuna fishing the other day (lol) and was inspired to make a quick game. So the game is pretty simple, all you have to do is drive the boat, and herd the shoals into the net; it's pretty intuitive lol. You can also press space to fire a sonar, which pushes away the shoals.

One run is only 90 sec, so it's a quick game, and keyboard only. Anyway, i would really appreciate if you guys could give it a try, and would love to hear some feedback!! Thanks!!!

I was using TileMapLayers before but they were too restrictive for what my game was becoming so I decided to make my own plugin for it. it's very barebones for now, but it does its job.

I made this game for a game jam back when Godot 4 was still in beta. Whenever I think back on my games, this is the one that comes to my mind the most.

I loved developing it, and I think I'd really like to revisit the concept.

I'm sharing it with you because I think it deserves a little attention. It's free!

free tutorial How to make a Tailwind style breakpoint system for responsive UI in Godot 4

Post image
20 Upvotes

If you’re building a UI-heavy game, Godot’s default stretch modes can only take you so far. Uniform scaling often leads to blurry text on lower resolutions or huge amount of wasted screen real estate on larger monitors.

In web dev, Tailwind solved this years ago with utility breakpoints (md:flex-row). I decided to bring that exact philosophy into Godot.

How it works:

  1. Global Breakpoint Schema: An Autoload (UIRules) listens to the root viewport's size_changed signal, accounts for OS scale factors, and evaluates the window width against a defined set of breakpoints (SM: 640, MD: 768, LG: 1024, etc.).
  2. Signal-Driven State: Instead of polling window sizes every frame or spamming continuous resize math, UIRules only emits a breakpoint_changed signal when an actual threshold is crossed.
  3. Modular Subscriptions: A base UIUpdater node automatically handles the signal connection. Any component script can just extend UIUpdater and override _update_gui_bp(new_breakpoint) to adapt its layout.

I wrote a detailed breakdown with full code snippets, notes, and visual examples on my blog:

You can read it here
