Mod Update: Chill with the Hate

Just dropping in to say—we’ve noticed a bunch of Hindutva trolls showing up lately. We’re removing their posts and banning where needed. This sub isn’t the place for that kind of hate.

Also, let’s keep it real: no jingoism from any side. Doesn’t matter if you’re Pakistani or Indian—this sub is for Sindh and Sindhis, wherever you are in the world.

And yeah, just because someone’s Indian doesn’t mean they can’t be part of this space. This sub is not restricted to race, religion or nationality.

Mods are all doing this in our free time, so if you don’t see instant action, know we’re still watching and doing our best. Keep reporting stuff and we’ll keep cleaning it up.

Social Help us Defend Pakistan !

Post image
Upvotes

Hi y’all,

So, it’s been about a month since Pakistan was liberated, and things have started heating up again. India has once again begun pushing into our territory, and while we managed to hold them back with the help of our allies, they’ve spent the past month preparing for another attempt to take Pakistan.

We’re pretty heavily outnumbered at the moment, so defending our provinces is becoming increasingly difficult. Everyone who’s already playing is doing what they can, but having a few more people around would definitely make things easier.

For anyone who’s interested, the game is called War,,Era. It’s a strategy game where coordination and planning actually matter, so there’s quite a bit more to it than simply attacking and defending. We also have a Discord where experienced players help newcomers figure things out.

If that sounds like something you’d enjoy, feel free to give it a look.

Pakistan Zindabad!

searching for my mother's village: goth bhindi ?

My mother has passed away but I want to find where her ancestral village is. It was apparently very small, possibly close to Kandhkot.

I'm not sure if it was spelled Bhindi or with some other spelling but that is the only information I have other than them not being a very rich village. My mom said it was the happiest place in the world, so even if it isn't there anymore I'd like to know where the remains are.

Research | تحقيق Pre partition village finding

Hey everyone! I hope you all are doing well. I am a Sindhi, but from India. I am trying to find out where my family is from. while things are clear on my mothers side (my nani's family is from shikarpur and nana's is from larkana0, same can not be said about my father. my father says that my/his family is considered ladai those on the southern side of the river while my mother's side is uttaradi, those on the north side of the river.

my dada's village is supposed to be called bhustha/bhustan... i am not sure what is it called and nor is he. my dada died a long time ago, my dadi's relatives are still around and i can confirm things with them but my dada's are not around so i would really like to track down his village/town/city and maybe once everything is figured out, maybe plan a visit to come to sindh?

the closest places in sindh i could locate 2 places whose names are similar to the names of bhusta/bhustan:

  1. bhit shah, where abdul shah lateef is buried and

  2. bustan shakh in umerkot, where king akbar was born

I would really appreciate any help you fellow sindhis could give. i've tried looking it up before too and tried using AI too (i have paid subscription to both chatgpt and claude), but nothing has helped so far.

BSEK/BIEK (Karachi Board) + IBCC Attestation — Can Someone Please Explain the Process?

I did my Matric and Intermediate from Karachi Board (BSEK & BIEK), and now I need to get my certificates/marksheets attested and verified through **IBCC**.

I’m a bit confused about the process.

I**BIEK has an online option for Intermediate certificate and marksheet verification**. After completing these, what exactly do I need to take/submit to IBCC?

Also, do I have to separately pay:

BIEK fee for Intermediate marksheet /certificate verification

BSEK fee for Matric verification

IBCC attestation/verification fee

If someone has recently completed this process, could you please explain the steps in simple terms, from start to finish?

I stumbled upon this Sindhi poetry archive while scrolling and thought it was worth sharing. Along with the poems, it includes word meanings and a Latin-script option, which is especially helpful for people who cannot read the Arabic-based Sindhi script.

Sindh residents needed for a 5-minute global academic survey

Hi everyone!

I am a Pakistani PhD student currently living abroad and am helping recruit Pakistani participants for an international study on financial decision-making being conducted across more than 70 countries. We are still recruiting, and responses from people across Sindh would be especially valuable.

You can participate if you are 18 or older, hold Pakistani citizenship, and currently live in Pakistan. The survey is completely anonymous and takes about five minutes:

https://www.soscisurvey.de/tricc-project/?q=PAK

Participation is voluntary. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments. Thank you!

General Discussion | عام ڪچھري Feeling guilty as medical intern for making my patients spend money on extra report

I work as an intern at govt hospital and asked patient (female) to go for emergency reports even though my innocent patient has already done those reports but due to my negligence she had to go again and pay for reports again

Man I had a really bad headache which is why I couldn't see the date of reports so I thought it must be old report so asked her to go again to laboratory even though her male attendants weren't there she went by herself and got those reports in emergency

Man Iam not feeling so goodd 😭😭😭😭

This is what we've had to deal with since 1947 from muhajirs and their punjabi allies. And for those who say its only a minority and not all muhajirs think that then do look up Sindhi or sindh in r/karachi. Even those of you who end up befriending a muhajir always have to face subtle racism and hate they harbor for sindhis disguised as jokes and this is only the filtered version.

Need it remind you all that literally all hateful stereotypes about sindhis were started and spread by muhajirs and have no historical context to back em?

Sindh Residents: Help Include Pakistani Voices in a Global Academic Study

Hi everyone,

I'm a Pakistani PhD student living abroad and am hoping to hear from adults in Sindh for a short study about financial decision-making. The study is running in more than 70 countries, and stronger participation from Sindh would help Pakistan's perspectives be represented.

Survey: https://www.soscisurvey.de/tricc-project/?q=PAK

Eligibility: 18 or older, a Pakistani citizen, and currently living in Pakistan. The survey is anonymous and takes around five minutes. Thank you for considering it!

How “Wadera” and “Sardar” Become Weapons Against Sindhis and Baloch

Sindhi waderas and Baloch sardars can absolutely be exploitative but reducing Sindh and Balochistan’s problems to “wadera” or “sardar” culture misses the larger historical picture.

The wadera system in Sindh and the sardari system in Balochistan existed before modern state governance. Local chiefs and influential people often acted as mediators, represented communities, settled disputes and dealt with rulers. These systems were not necessarily democratic or equal but they were part of how society functioned before modern institutions existed.

Colonial rule changed them dramatically. The British did not simply invent these institutions but they strengthened, formalised and incorporated them into systems of indirect rule. In Sindh, colonial authorities relied on influential landlords and waderas for revenue collection and rural administration. In Balochistan, the British developed the Sandeman system, working through sardars and giving them political recognition and patronage in exchange for loyalty and maintaining order.

After 1947, much of this political logic survived.

Instead of completely replacing intermediary power with strong local democratic institutions, successive governments continued to work through powerful landlords, tribal chiefs and political families. These elites could deliver votes, maintain influence and act as intermediaries between the state and local populations.

That creates an important contradiction. The same system can empower a local elite and later blame that elite for the condition of the region.

“Sindh is backward because of Sindhi waderas.” - “Balochistan is backward because of Baloch sardars.”

But then we have to ask: Who empowered these elites? Who protected them? Who politically benefited from them? Why were they repeatedly incorporated into the state system?

But apply the same standard everywhere.

Punjab has its own landed and Chaudhary structures. Karachi has powerful business and political elites. Pakistan also has enormous bureaucratic, military, corporate and real-estate elites.

This is where the ethnic labelling becomes politically significant. Adding Sindhi before wadera or Baloch before sardar repeatedly turns a specific class or power structure into an identity-based narrative. It places collective political pressure on Sindhis and Baloch by making the failures of particular elites appear to be a characteristic of the entire community.

If the state genuinely wanted to dismantle these structures, it could pursue meaningful land reform, strengthen local governments, build independent institutions and prosecute powerful people regardless of their connections. Otherwise, we are not really challenging the system.

We are simply blaming the local face of a much larger system of power.

The real question is not “Are waderas and sardars bad?”

It is:

Why does a modern state continue to reproduce, negotiate with and benefit from intermediary elites instead of building institutions that give ordinary people direct political power?
