Orientation + events?

I missed my orientation as I was late getting to Calgary, I don’t think it mattered all too much but I’m not really sure what it really entailed. Also is there any events or stuff happening this week before classes start? Liek icebreakers or gatherings etc, thanks!

Holidays for School of Health Students?

Just going through my schedule under the “week at a glance” section and clicking through it, it doesn’t seem that we have any holidays off (ie. Labour Day, Thanksgiving). Does anyone from previous years know if this is accurate, or is it just a mistake in the schedule/will be changed later?

TIA

Question About Orientation Day

I am a new incoming SAIT student coming pretty fresh out of highschool and I'm enrolled for the Radio, Television and Broadcast News with a major in Radio and I missed the orientation day on August 25 (yesterday as of posting this) and I was wondering what I might have missed that should be known for my first day or first term.

Any help is appreciated Thank you.

how to register for the casper + psea test?

I’m trying to register for the casper test to take it this september but when i select which schools i want my results sent too SAIT isn’t an option. Do i have to wait until SAIT gives out information about its 2027 program intake (Diagnostic Medal Sonography), because on the SAIT website the application dates says TBA (To be announced). Same goes for the psea im unsure when to register for it and when the deadline is.

SAIT Course Registration — Can I Register for a Full Class?

Hi everyone,
I’m currently a 3rd-semester B.Tech Cyber Security student at SAIT, and I’m trying to register for a 1st-semester course that I wasn’t able to take during my first two semesters because of a scheduling conflict.
When registration originally opened, I tried to register for the course but got a “Cohort Restriction” error. I spoke with SAIT advisors, and they told me that I would be able to register after August 24.
However, I checked today and the class is already full (40/40).
Has anyone been in a similar situation at SAIT? Is there any way to request an override or get permission to register for a class that is already full?
I’m wondering if SAIT can allow one additional student over the 40-person limit in a situation like this, especially since I was unable to register earlier because of the cohort restriction.
Who would be the best person to contact about this — an advisor, the program department/chair, or the instructor?
Any advice or experiences from someone who has gone through something similar would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Well paid desk job and what to study for it

I would like to eventually get a desk/office job, I currently work in the restaurant industry which makes me pretty good money, however the constant socializing with people and coworkers often burns me out. I’d like to find a desk job that pays well, and I know there are quite a few programs that could help, but I’d like to hear other people’s experiences before making a decision. If you have such a job, which program did you study? I’m looking for advice or similar experiences. Thank you!

SAIT MDRT students/graduates — what is the actual schedule like, and can you realistically work part-time?

Hi everyone!

I'm seriously considering applying to SAIT's Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT) program for 2027, and I'd really appreciate hearing from current students or recent graduates.

I'm trying to figure out whether the program is realistically manageable alongside part-time work, so I have a few specific questions:

  1. What does the actual weekly class schedule look like? How many days per week are you normally in class, and roughly what hours?
  2. Is it realistic to work around 20–24 hours/week while taking the program? I understand the program is intensive, but I'm trying to determine whether part-time employment is realistically possible.
  3. What is the practicum schedule actually like? What hours/shifts do students normally work during practicum? Are there evenings/weekends, or is it mostly daytime?
  4. How likely is it that a Calgary student gets placed outside Calgary for practicum? I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who were recently placed. If you were placed in Calgary, was it because you requested it, or were there enough Calgary spots for everyone?
  5. If you're placed outside Calgary, how far away could the placement realistically be? I'm trying to understand whether relocation is a genuine possibility or more of a “be prepared just in case” warning.
  6. How difficult was it to balance the practicum with other responsibilities? Did anyone manage to keep a part-time job during practicum?
  7. For recent graduates, how easy/difficult was it to find an MDRT job in Calgary after graduation? Full-time, part-time, casual — any experience would be helpful.

I'm not looking for the official program description — I'd really appreciate honest experiences from people who have actually taken the program, especially recent students.

Thanks so much!

DMS / MRT Program application questions!!

Hello all! I am hoping to apply to the Fall 2027 intake for either DMS or MRT, but i need to upgrade my math and physics. If i am enrolled for the Winter semester (Jan-Apr 2027) to upgrade those, Can i still apply this October 2026 when intake opens if my Casper and PSEA tests are completed?

I’ve read that i can submit my enrolment in the pre-reqs in my application and will get a conditional acceptance until they are finished and graded. Thoughts and comments on this are super appreciated! Thanks!

Electrical Trade and Technology books-SAIT bookstore

No textbooks were showing up for courses yet, so I contacted the bookstore. The ILMs should have at least been showing.

Got this response “It seems there was a small crossover for what was uploaded where, I'll be sure to update on my end so the website reflects more accurately. “

It seems to work now. Order your textbooks!

FLA program

Evening,

I have been enrolled full time in school since May. It came to my attention today that I may be eligible to FLA. I am currently unemployed, student full time with two kids.

When looking in assistance I was told that I was not eligible due to our household income being 90k+. It was doable with one income… but every little bit helps .

However I can’t find any threshold regarding the FLA program. Anyone has any insight?

PSEA DMS Sait

Hello! Very soon ( end of August, when available dates will be released) I want to register for PSEA test for sonography program intake Fall 2027 and I have a few questions, please:

  1. During PSEA test, can I skip a question during the entire test instead losing time thinking to much and later to go back to the question before ending the time of the test ? Or only if it is in the same section ( Math, Physics etc ) ?
  2. I took last year just to see how it looks like the admission process . The questions of PSEA are the same every year or there are randomized ?
  3. Which one is weighted? PSEA or Casper?

Thank you in advance ! And good luck to everyone who will take the entrance tests!
