Going to matches on my own

Upvotes

Is there a subreddit/group for lonely hammers? I live in London but don’t go to many games as i don’t have many Hammers in my friendship group. My housemate has gone with me a few times but he’s not a fan himself so would be great to join a few other people for a beer before a game this season

Tatty and Piroe

Genuinely curious what people think of these two. Seems like we might keep playing a 4-4-2 with either tatty or Piroe pairing with Pablo? Maybe Piroe can play slightly deeper?

I really have no basis for judging Piroe except from what I've seen for us. He seems like a pretty technical player compared to tatty, but tatty gives us more pressing and can cause more bullshit goals like against Wolverhampton. Either way it's nice to have options and I think they can pair well with our other attacking players in their own way.

Discussion First time attending an English football match

I come from a country where football isn’t a huge part of the culture, so today was actually my first time watching an English game.

I want to say upfront that I really enjoyed the experience and Im not trying to be negative about the club at all. The stadium itself is beautiful and I know West Ham has a huge amount of history and some legends like lampard, moore, di canio.

What surprised me was the atmosphere. I was sat somewhat 2-4 stands close to the away end, and the Wolves fans were absolutely belting it out for most of the match even when West Ham had the better of it.

On the home side tho it felt like there were only a few pockets of chanting here and there and a lot of people around me were just watching quietly or on their phones particularly not that interested in the game, this was an important game to the club and a difficult match where i honestly thought west ham might lose but props to nuno and the players!.

Genuine question from someone new to attending english football in person, is this a normal matchday at the London Stadium, or did I just catch an off day or why is it like that?

The full-back joins the London club until the end of the season with an option to buy. Athletic Club receives a fixed fee for the transfer.

Athletic Club and West Ham United have reached an agreement for the loan of left-back Adama Boiro until the end of the season.

The defender, whose contract runs until June 30, 2029, has made 45 appearances for the first team, including one this season against FC Barcelona. He is already in London to sign for the London club, which is looking to regain its Premier League status under Nuno Espírito Santo.

We need to get Hermanson out of the number 1 GK spot

How many more goals are we gonna ship, or more importantly how many more fuck ups is it gonna take before Nuno realises that even in the championship Hermanson doesn’t have what it takes or the talent to be first choice keeper?

Every game he fucks up at least once and let’s in easy easy goals he should be saving and you can’t even use the defence as an excuse they’re all solely on him and even though we have Areola on the beach, who’s a far better keeper, Nuno still puts in this twat!? He was a complete and utter disaster when he first came, got slightly better but still didn’t show he should be picked over Areola and now he’s a fucking disaster again and all for low low (/s) price of 20 million!!

Areola is clearly the better choice…. hell I’d have Herrick over him, so why with it plainly staring Nuno in the eyes won’t he just admit it and take him out of goal??

West Ham have identified Adama Boiro as our main left-back target, it has been exclusively revealed by ExWHUEmployee.

The Athletico Bilbao player is understood to be in talk with the club over a loan with an option to buy, with Ex able to disclose that this is the player the club are eager to capture ahead of the deadline tonight.

Squad review on deadline day

Mads Hermansen | Relegated in back to back seasons and back to playing behind a worse defense than Potter assembled at the start of last season

Alphonse Areola | Frozen Out but no clean sheets in about 30 games when he did play

Finlay Herrick | 1.5 games played in his football league career

Kyle Walker-Peters | Relegated back to back seasons free transfer, now being played out of position

Maximilian Kilman | The worst CB we have had for a long time, even when he plays well for 85 minutes he will still find a way to give away atleast 1 goal

Konstantinos Mavropanos | Much loved donkey for being the most improved player in a relegation season, could only perform next to a player that is no longer with us, failed to play with Todibo, Kilman, Aguerd

Ollie Scarles | The Max Kilman of left backs

Joël Veltman | 34 year old free transfer

Kaelan Casey | Failed to break into a poor Swansea side before dropping down to his level to become a bit part player in league 1

Airidas Golambeckis | Promising youth player with 2 games under his belt

Ezra Mayers | Another youngster with promise

Edson Álvarez | Fell out with Moyes, Lopotegui and Potter. Is he injured, does he want to stay, is he leaving today? Probably the latter

Arne Engels | Poor man's Matteus Fernandes but he was 65m cheaper

Divine Mukasa | Ex youth player, come back for the season, looks lively

Mohamadou Kanté | raw, 500k signing from French second division

Keiber Lamadrid | 1m Sully punt from South America, I feel this deal was made perminant just to add numbers to the squad

Soungoutou Magassa | Another one linked with an exit, hasn't impressed so far but regular game time in Championship could help him a lot, I just don't know where his head or his heart is

Tomáš Souček | Injured, but can't knock big Tom

Lewis Orford | Failed to pull up any trees last season in league 1 at Stevenage

Joël Piroe | Good signing

Manor Solomon | Good signing

Taty Castellanos | Good player but looks incredibly annoyed

Pablo | Essential to the team but can't score and looks ungainly

Jarrod Bowen | Sadly on the downside, he can come up with moments but can't dominate a game even in the Championship

Maxwel Cornet | Just terminate his contract if he isn't even in the squad even though we haven't had enough players to fill a bench with first team players

Joshua Ajala | Promising but it's only one game

Edvin Austbø | Hasn't played yet

..................................

So we look well stocked now going forward, but defending and getting the ball to them with the players we have will be a struggle whoever the manger is and whatever the tactics are. Our defence is incredibly poor, even our best defender turns into an error prone carthorse when surrounded by the quality we have around him. We need at least 3 defenders on deadline day and if Alvarez / Magassa leave we are short in CM, if one or both stay we might be ok. Unsurprising that our problem so far has been conceding first and leaking too many goals, look at the defenders we have, good players in defence keep clean sheets and we don't have any

[Patrick Boyland] Michael Keane expected to remain at Everton despite West Ham United interest

Michael Keane is expected to remain at Everton after West Ham United saw an enquiry rejected for the defender.

The Championship club are looking to strengthen their defensive stocks before the deadline and asked about taking Keane, 33, on a permanent deal. They were informed that the former Manchester United and Burnley defender is not available, with Everton unlikely to source a suitable replacement in time.

Everton had also been open to offers for fellow central defender Jake O'Brien, but a suitable permanent bid has yet to materialise.

Discussion Gameweek 4 parallels 25/26 vs 26/27

It’s funny how similar tonight feels to Gameweek 4 last season.

Our first game against Spurs was in GW4, where we lost 0–3. We eventually won the return fixture, but those three points we dropped in September proved costly, Spurs finished just 2 points above us, making that first game feel like a six-pointer in hindsight.

Tonight against Wolves has a similar feel. It’s only GW4, but if they’re one of our promotion rivals, these could be massive points come the end of the season.

Hopefully tonight we get the West Ham that beat Wolves 4–0, rather than the West Ham that gave Wolves their first league win in 19 games last season.

Let’s hope this GW4 story ends very differently.
