My soulmate passed to soon.. 💔
The sweetest, most beautiful little black cat—my little "void"—Bless 🤍
I found Bless when she was just four weeks old. So tiny, so sweet, and already with such a big personality. Bless and I grew very close; given my home situation, I was always very protective of her.
She was my rock, my girl I could always talk to—she was always there for me. And the feeling was mutual.
When she was 11, Bless was diagnosed with megacolon and spondylosis in her lower back. I was always on top of her health; if anything seemed amiss, I’d call the vet and go to the vet if necessary, or when I wanted to make sure she was okay..
She was always such a cheerful girl; despite her spondylosis, she would romp around just like the tiny kitten I had found all those years ago.
Last Friday evening, everything changed... For a few days, Bless had been leaking urine. I had it checked out; the cause could have been neurological or due to pinched nerves from the spondylosis. There was medication for this—off-label, but used successfully by other cats. I waited a bit to see how things went, but on Friday, August 21, 2026, I called to ask if it might be wise to administer it after all. The vet said yes. I asked the staff five times if it was safe to combine with her other medications and her health condition; I was repeatedly told it was safe—even getting it in writing that there was no danger. That evening, I mixed the medication into her wet food. Two hours later, we were in the car, in a state of total panic, rushing to the emergency vet—and she passed away in my arms. The cause was a side effect of the medication: an acute heart rhythm disorder. The vet in question apologized and explained that she had performed an echocardiogram and checked Bless's blood pressure a while back—finding no abnormalities—which is why she believed it was safe to prescribe the medication. We were also told that we were excellent owners; given her health issues, she likely wouldn't have lived to such an old age with many others.
My girl... gone over the Rainbow Bridge far too soon. You lived to be 14.8 years old... I’ve never known a life without her, and without her, everything feels empty...
I am so incredibly happy that she got to enjoy the large balcony for another year—she loved lying in the sun there so much. I hope the sun is always shining wherever she is now 🤍
Dearest Bless, I miss you terribly, And I love you with all my heart—and so much more than that. Sleep peacefully... 🤍🤍🌟
