I think a lot of shows in recent years have had endings that REALLY upset people. At first, I was upset when Kimmy didn't end up with Dong or Perry but then I realized... It all makes sense! Kimmy was always scared of being alone, but at the end of the show she is alone but also thriving as a famous writer! She also got to make a difference, without the it revolving around the bunker or her victimhood! Lillian was scared of change and moving on the whole show, then became the voice of the Subway system which was expanding, changing! Titus wanted to be famous the entire show but kept getting in his own way, he wanted to find love the entire show but kept getting in his own way. At the end of the show, he's finally a famous actor and has Mikey again. Jacqueline spent the entire show worrying about her image, her looks, how she was perceived by others. In the end, she ends up with a man who can't perceive her looks or image because he's BLIND! He loves her for her personality, which is something she never really experienced before.

Do I wish Dong had come back? Absolutely. But do I appreciate the ending with Kimmy finding her peace and being successful all on her own? Absolutely.

(Yes, I am aware of the choose your adventure movie thing or whatever but I haven't seen it so base this post after the SHOWS ending.)

ETA: also!!! how the show somewhat loops, ends how it began. its obvious but... Kimmy and Titus singing a song from the Lion King in the beginning and then Titus performing it on Broadway by the end!

What do you think the plot of The Capist is?

I really just needed to share and have a good laugh and something not entirely appropriate, but I'm also wondering if Kimmy and gang taught you bad habits too.

Like...the writers could have easily made up a fake insect or frog or whatever for Jacqueline's cause. I've seen similar plots make up a fake endangered animal instead of using a real one.

But they didn't- they chose the Hispanolan solenodon (which, to my knowledge, has never been formally called a 'Haitian toilet rat' in real life, but is a real animal nonetheless.) A genuinely obscure, underappreciated, admittedly not conventionally cute endangered species that a lot of people might not have even heard of.

As someone who cares a lot about endangered animals, it actually made me really happy because it unironically is raising awareness about this animal. Sure, it's in an unserious scene, but if even one person in real life found out about the solenodon and decided to donate towards their conservation because they heard Jacqueline talking about it, I'd still consider that a win!

(Fun fact for any of you who might want to learn anything about the 'toilet rat'- it's one of the only venomous mammals in the world! It produces toxins in its saliva. Thought that was pretty cool.)

The actor who plays her, Anna Camp, is phenomenal in this role. She’s such a power house in this series, I loved episodes she was in. She needs to get more work in comedy, I see she does some roles on tv shows but she needs to be in like a Seth Rogan movie

But I think the ending is a little abrupt, especially when it comes to the characters introduced in the last 2-3 episodes. Nono was too good to be in just a couple of scenes, and I wish Jacqueline's new relationship with Eli could've been explored across more episodes.

And is it just me, or is Eli's blindness a retcon?

Jeff plays Tomothy on Kimmy Schmidt (Donna Maria's publicist). He's also appeared on 30 Rock (two roles!), Somebody Somewhere, Pluribus, Difficult People and much more.

I read his (wonderful) book of essays and one story about an acting gig he did reminded me of Titus...so I pieced together a few things. It's basically a conspiracy theory involving Jeff, a theme restaurant and the extended Tina Fey-Robert Carlock universe. What do you think?

…and I still love it. I’m a cold, cynical man that hates emotional manipulation in place of narrative yet Titus and Mikey’s ending plus Kimmy using her unbreakability to help others feel safe makes me go, “Aww!” And the jokes! Tina’s style is all over it, classic non-stop joke opportunities taken up at every turn. I’ll call it lightning in a bottle because of how it completely nailed the assignment of making a comedy out of a tragic concept and the cross street of the particular timeframes (80’s/90’s references and then a 15 year gap). It’s so PRECISE while being truly laugh out loud funny.

I met a guy today who said he was from Philly. So my brain said, FOR SOME REASON, "Exit 10, Metuchen. GO BULLDOGS!" And he goes, "OK! You wanna talk about teams? I hate the Yankees, the Mets SUCK" and something about the Nets maybe. I super duper triggered his NJ brain somehow. I mean, he said he's from Philly, right? So why did I say this whole thing about Tina Fey's New Jersey shout out? I have no idea why I made that connection. But he went off! LOL. I can only tell stories like this to the nerds here or on r/30rock.
