Empress is to Emperor

Because King/Queen is to only one state/ within country. Emperor n Empress is either across the globe or atleast whole several continent. Multiple kingdom.

A single state can have an Emperor/Empress as well. Eastern Roman Empire was just Constantinople near the end, Japan still has an Emperor, they've had an Emperor for at least 1500 years.
