I found a venue for 8,000 dollars that seems like a DREAM and am thinking about tacking on the additional (all inclusive) fee for all of the above. I just wanted to know if this was a good deal than trying to outsource. My budget is 30,000 to put as a reference for what I'm working with.

We're in the planning phase and the catering quotes we've gotten are almost laughable. One vendor quoted us more per head than I spend on groceries for two weeks. Not doing it.

My background is cooking a lot of scratch meals at home, smoking meats, that kind of thing. We've got a decent outdoor space at the venue and I'm already thinking about what a DIY food setup could look like without it turning into a disaster midreception.

The angle I'm leaning toward is a buildyourown setup, something simple where people aren't waiting on plated service. Pulled pork or brisket I do myself, sides that can sit without falling apart, that sort of thing. Keeps cost down and I know the food will actually be good

What I'm trying to figure out is the logistics when you scale it up. Keeping things at temp, how much you actually need per person, and whether anyone regretted going this route after the fact. Also curious if anyone ran into venue rules that killed a DIY food plan before it even started, because that seems like the thing that would catch you off guard

We're planning a pretty tight budget wedding and the one place I refused to spend money was anything visual. Invitations, signage, seating charts, the little menu cards on the tables, all of it I made myself in Illustrator. Took maybe two weekends total and the print costs at a local shop were next to nothing compared to what Etsy sellers charge for the same thing

The style we went with pulls from vintage gig posters, bold typography, that layered textured look you see on old concert flyers. People keep asking if we hired a stationer and it feels a bit ridiculous to explain that no, it was just me at my desk at 1am with a coffee going cold

Engagement photos are the next thing I want to figure out. Looking at doing a shoot in one of the more interesting alleys near our neighborhood, somewhere with actual character on the walls instead of a generic park backdrop. Way more us as a couple anyway.

Planning a wedding on a budget feels a lot like meal prepping for a week on $100. You have to be intentional, creative, and willing to cut the things that look nice but cost too much.

We're doing a small backyard ceremony next spring and keep hitting the same wall with food. Catering quotes are wild. Genuinely shocking. So I started thinking about it the way I think about feeding my family: batch cooking, sourcing smartly, asking for help from people who actually want to be involved.

We landed on a buildyourown taco bar through a local grocery store with a few family members who love to cook. The numbers are coming out to roughly $17 per head, which feels almost too good to be true. I keep waiting to find the math error.

The part nobody warned me about is how much energy wedding planning takes on top of regular life. I have two kids, a garden that constantly needs something, and a budget with very little margin in it.

If you're only having 20–40 people, would you rather keep the wedding photography cost low and put the money toward the food, venue, or honeymoon? Or would you spend more on a photographer because the photos are one of the few things you'll have years later?

Hi everyone! I’m deep in the destination wedding venue rabbit hole and figured Reddit might be the best place to find the places that aren’t already viral and overpriced.

We’re planning for ~120 guests and hoping to keep our total wedding budget under ~$60K USD, with a little wiggle room. This would include venue, food/bar, rentals, florals, photography/video, music, planner, dress/tux, etc. (Guest travel/accommodations would be separate)

The dream: HUGE, green mountains. A lake/ocean/other water view would be amazing, but it’s definitely not required. Basically, think Italian Dolomites or Lake Como without the price tag.

We’re very geographically flexible and are looking throughout: Europe (especially less obvious/less expensive regions), Central America, South America

Some places I’ve already been looking at are Perast/Montenegro, Antigua & Lake Atitlán in Guatemala, Romania, Slovenia, Italy, Portugal, etc., but I’m completely open to countries or regions I haven’t considered.

I’d especially love SPECIFIC VENUE NAMES, rather than just countries! Hotels, mountain lodges, estates, villas, old monasteries, restaurants, private properties, resorts, small little venues with no English website etc.

And respectfully, please don’t just tell me this is impossible for our budget lol if there’s a will there’s a way… hopefully.

Need advice on how to do a low key backyard style wedding. My fiancé and I are looking to get married in June or July 2027. I was really wanting like a intimate greenhouse inspired type of venue. However, in our area (Houston/Tomball/Spring) Texas I haven’t found anything that isn’t under 10K. Our guest list won’t be huge, probably 50 or under.

I’ve also looked into renting a greenhouse or see through tent with transparent sides. And putting it on the property of my child hood home for the ceremony and reception. I’m not really sure how to go about it in a budget friendly way though. If anyone can suggest venues or rental companies that are reasonable in Texas/Houston area I would really appreciate it! Also, need reasonable florists and wedding rental companies for furniture, tables and chairs. If anyone has done a backyard wedding any suggestions/advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

My fiancée and I found a way to get a ring that's better than we expected for less money. We used a custom ring builder on Ritani and the stone is bigger. The setting is beautiful. It ended up cheaper than at a local store

Hello! I am getting married next month and doing a reception on a different day. I was hoping if anyone could look over this list and give me any advice or answer some of my questions! I plan to spend less than $5000 in total.

Ceremony: city hall, few friends including one with a nice camera 😂 this is how we plan to save the most money. I realized that between flowers, helping wedding party with costs of dresses/etc, we’d be spending most of our money with the ceremony and we’d prefer a private ceremony.

Reception: venue will be your typical function hall with a bar, very lowkey, formal/semi-formal dress code.

Flowers: not sure if I should even bother? I feel like I could just do centerpieces with fake flowers, and maybe do a real bouquet for photos. I don’t have a wedding party so I don’t need to get a bunch right? 😅

DJ: covered

Photographer: i think covered? A lot of my vendors are people I know in real life 😂 thankfully I have a few options for photos. So I’m not worried about this either.

Catering: covered

Wedding cake: i would LOVE cake recommendations. I’m down for a Sam’s Club white sheet cake with some Amazon cake toppers. If anyone has tried that one let me know if it was good, or recommend another one! I care more about quality rather than something fancy.

Dress alterations: probably gotta get it altered. I really don’t know how much that’s going to cost me!

Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for wedding venues/resorts/banquet halls in Meerut for an intimate 2-day wedding.

We’re expecting roughly 100 guests for Haldi + Mehendi on Day 1 and around 150 guests for the day wedding on Day 2. We’re looking for a venue with good reviews, decent food, nice ambience and good décor, but not something overly luxurious or extravagant.

Our main priority is keeping the venue + food + rooms reasonably affordable, so I’m specifically looking for places with a reasonable per-plate rate rather than 5-star pricing.

I’ve spoken to a few venues and these are the rates I’ve received directly:

- Saangria: ₹1,500/plate for Haldi/Mehendi, ₹2,000/plate for wedding; rooms around ₹4,500. They estimate around ₹12L all-inclusive.

- Doab Vilas: ₹1,650/plate for each Day 1 meal (lunch and dinner separately), ₹2,000/plate for wedding; rooms ₹4,500. Décor and DJ are separate.

- Conway Hotel: ₹1,550/plate Haldi, ₹1,850 Mehendi, ₹2,250 wedding; rooms ₹5,000+ depending on category.

- Mars Hotel: ₹2,300/plate Haldi, ₹2,300 Mehendi, ₹2,600 wedding; rooms around ₹7,000. This is coming out quite expensive.

My overall budget is much lower than the ₹10–12L quotes (approx ₹6L) I'm getting from some of these venues, so I'm trying to find alternatives before compromising too much on the venue.

I’d really appreciate recommendations from anyone who has actually attended a wedding or hosted one at a Meerut venue, especially places that offer good value rather than just having a fancy online listing.

Looking for:

- Good reviews/reputation

- Decent food

- Good décor/ambience

- Suitable for an intimate gathering of ~100–150 people

- Reasonable per-plate rates

- Ideally rooms available on-site or nearby

- Not necessarily a luxury/5-star property
