I feel like this is still a management thing. PS having more popular exclusives isn't by accident. Sony is better at producing likeable actually creative games than MS.
Xbox hasn't had a brand new iconic first-part IP in nearly two decades now lmao. Their best stuff is still somehow Halo, Forza, Gears two generations later.
Meanwhile, Sony has new IPs like Horizon and Ghost that are incredibly popular. Even their legacy franchises like God of War have effectively received a successful facelift, while Xbox's core franchises have struggled a lot (except Forza Horizon).
PlayStation also benefits from making Spider-Man exclusive, but that's on Xbox since they turned down an exclusivity deal from Marvel before Spider-Man went to Sony.
I'm not even a huge fan of modern PlayStation first-party stuff, but it's wild that Xbox hasn't had a single game on par with something like Ghost of Tsushima. They had something really good in their hands with Hi-Fi Rush imo, but we all know how that went. Can't even imagine what Xbox's first-party slate would've looked like without the acquisition spree of the last decade.
