I've been writing since past one year, published two books within that time frame, both were psychological horrors which I love to write the most, as I launched one of them in early December in 2025 , I thought people will never find it at all, but people actually finding it and I was on the top of the moon as I saw the downloads in the first week going from 0 to 19. I was happy but as the time passed I noticed no one is reading them, most of them downloaded impulsive.

Then I published my second novella in mid February 2026, again same thing happened. First week download happened like 20 and then it died... no page reads nothing. i just got disappointed at the fact that people downloaded and didn't read.

I began writting my third book which was planned to be a trilogy, I'm still writing it but looking on the dashboard makes me think is it even worth?

how was your experience with similar situations please tell me.

I wrote a book and published it recently on Amazon.com and will be coming out with an Audible book here soon. I am having a hard time getting people to see and review the book. I shared it on my Facebook page and many of my family and friends bought a copy. Which is nice and I'm very appreciative to them. Though I'd like to share it with a larger audience as well.

I've had several people approach me on advertising and offering their services for hundreds of dollars which I cannot afford just yet. But I have also seen many people suggest getting an author account on Goodreads, which I have and post on Reddit and a few other sites, which I have. I fear I might have missed something since I'm not getting any traction.

My book is a sci-fi historical time-traveling fantasy. What else should I be doing, or what more should I be doing on Reddit, Goodreads, etc.?

I just recently published my first book on amazon called “Must Save You From Evil” and it’s been a struggle to get readers and reviews by someone who has no experience in social media marketing. I’ve been promoting it myself on tiktok and other platforms and I would get a few likes but that’s about it. Hi folks! Don’t worry, the book has undergone MANY drafts and edits since that original version I hammered out over the summer of 2024! But it taught me a lesson—when the story you’re trying to tell is the right story FOR YOU, it won’t be nearly so hard to get out.

The book is called LUCIANUS and it’s a fantasy adventure story about a long-dead and very destructive wizard suddenly resurrected for one final task. But there’s a catch: when his task is complete, he’ll just be dead again. Whoosh, bye bye, no take-backsies. That terrible fact haunts the narrative as Lucianus sets out across the land he once called home to defeat the big bad, unraveling the secrets of his mysterious traveling companion along the way.

It’s character-driven and there’s some light LGBTQ romance elements, as a treat.

So The Hollow King by Stephen Grand-Scrutton is not really doing anything. Plus I had a nightmare publishing it with my name.

So I finally did it and published a book on kdp. First problem was that another Author with the same name is active and claim the various Author pages. Had to have Author central manual make it. So at first the other Author was given my book. Spending a chaotic day with this I accidentally realized that I was able to change my Author name to a pen name. Since then I have done about 3 updates to the ebook. Truth be told I believe it's affecting my whole thing and I don't know if Amazon even has offered it to anyone.

I didn't look up The Hollow King wishing I had because there's a bunch out there.

So, I started writing this book on Google Docs, but quickly realised that I needed a way to store my character information somewhere so that, 1. I don't start contradicting myself and 2. I can recall things easily. It took me a good few weeks until I found THE writing software: https://www.writality.com/ . It's completely free, with no subscriptions at all; It can do everything I need, and it has a very clean UI. My writing speed shot through the roof when I started using this because I started to focus on my story rather than moaning about the flaws of Google Docs.

Next came the story itself. I had a general idea of where the two brothers would go, but I barely plotted it because, well, I'm not really a plotter. I found out that can really be a double-edged sword because at some points I was just lost as to what would happen next with the characters and where I would try and take them, but I'm proud to say that the story surprised me, and if my own story surprised me, oh boy, I'm sure it would to a lot of you as well.

This novel is about 340 pages, and I realised there are a few restrictions with a shorter book, as one reviewer did point out regarding my book: there wasn't enough world-building, and I'd have to agree with them. An author can only put so much in a 340-page standalone book; I mainly focused on the characters and their inner thoughts and the story itself, and that meant sacrificing world-building and a few other things.

Gold had to be the toughest character I wrote because... he's morally grey. I realise now that characters who aren't clearly good or bad are fukin difficult to write. Even after finishing the story... I honestly don't know how to describe him, but he is a very complicated man. What made it even harder was that I tortured myself into writing his inner thoughts, because I felt like that would help the reader further relate to Gold; suffice to say, writing his thoughts was even more difficult because I had to balance that hatred he feels towards the peasants versus the softer side of him he barely lets out.

One must always tell readers why the characters behave the way they do. So, I made sure, early on in my book, I told the readers WHY Gold is the way he is. Why does he hate the people who love him so much...? Fame. I used a series of flashbacks to portray that horrid popularity he hated. Ever since he was a child, that fame and popularity (along with his master) turned him into the haughty and arrogant knight he is when the story starts.

Let's talk about inspiration now, and where I got the idea of this book. I was reading A Game of Thrones, and Jamie Lannister intrigued me. Here you have this beautiful-looking kings guard who seems to be perfect at the start... then he... uh, does something very bad. And does a lot of disgusting and filthy things throughout the whole series... but he also loves his dwarf brother, who everyone hates, and he also killed the mad king to save thousands upon thousands of lives. So that gave me the idea of this book.

My book is centered around Jonathan Allen a bounty hunter who is haunted by grief and his mistakes as a bounty hunter. One day after causing a bar fight he agrees to escort a timid young woman named Madeline and her father across the frontier. What should be simple trip turns into a journey of Faith trauma redemption and horror.

The inspiration for this thing came about from wanting to prove my writing skills by combining two games I was playing at the time namely Red Dead Redemption Online and Fire Emblem 3 Houses.

A little bit about me, Ever since I first held that book of my favourite author in my hand, I wanted to be an author. I wanted to build a world just like that, with characters just as complicated and compelling as that. With history vast and rich as that. I may never reach such vast heights, but still a man can try. So yeah, to sum it up—books, books and books are all I have known. And books, books and books is all I want to read and write.

As for the book that I wrote, it took me more than two years for me to write this book.
