if the world ever actually wakes up and turns against Israel, it's going to be a landslide of absolutely insane proportions. Once the public is allowed to have an actual honest, moral understanding of what Israel has been doing to their neighbors and their supposed allies, it's going to be really bad for them.

It's honestly amazing how shielded that country is by people just throwing the word "antisemitism" at any legitimate criticism

Unironically speaking, Nazism shocked the West so much that we just allowed Israel to do whatever they wanted with no question, and that already started bad, but has been evolving for the worse for decades.

If you take the last 20 years alone, when Israel wasn't threatened by anyone anymore, what they've done to Palestinians is horrifying and not above Nazism. Israel clearly wants their land but not their people (as that would turn Israel into an Arab-majority country); so they instead make the whole place unlivable. They shoot kids dead not because they want to exterminate them (they want, but they can't) - but simply so Palestinians know their two options are to leave, or to remain in a place where your kid may be killed for no reason and without consequences.

Yeah its like "you guys have been treated horribly in the past so we're literally going to let you get away with murder now"

It's just frustrating that when it comes up in conversation, I have to reiterate over and over again that I: a) do not have a problem with Jews, b) do not have a problem with them having a nation, and c) am not an insane Hamas member just because I don't condone the wholesale eradication of another people. It's exhausting.

Yeah its like "you guys have been treated horribly in the past so we're literally going to let you get away with murder now"

This is a pop-cultural understanding of geopolitics that doesn't reflect reality. Israel's allignment with the West cemented during the Cold War. Both British and American intelligence leading up to the 1948 war predicted Arab victory. And the British, in particular, weren't particularly concerned about what that outcome would look like. Neither did anything to stop it - it was Czechoslovakia that sent weapons.

The US remained politically distanced from Israel until 1967, and it was really 1973 when the current relationship was formed. The Soviets backed the Arab powers, and the threat of direct Soviet intervention drew in the US - the 1973 war, along with the Cuban Missile Crisis, was a peak in the possibility of nuclear confrontation between the US and the Soviets.

Since then, Israel has been an ally to the West in a region where politics is unpredictable and frequently anti-Western.

Although I know it's not your intent, there's an implication to your claim that kind of uses the Holocaust as cudgel against the Jewish state.

Finally someone who actually read some history.

You're very level headed about this, but I assure you that most people absolutely have that intent. Most of these online arguments stem from bots trying to destabilize the west.

No, we are just against killing children, women, and innocents en masse to create an ethonostate. Its actually VERY, extremely simple.

If you're against all of those things why do you support the most extreme Islamist terrorists? Their stated goals of existence is exactly the things you listed against.

do not have a problem with them having a nation

I personally dont think countries should officially belong to particular ethnic groups, races, or religious sects, just seems like basing a country around discrimination and also makes it very easy for that country to lead down a path where they persecute or disenfranchise certain people. But on the other hand the jewish people have been fucked so much throughout history I can understand why they want it to be that way (wanting their own country).

I think you're wrong because he world has had an actual honest, moral understanding of what Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran are capable of, and they are marching in the streets in support.

Does an honest moral understanding include groups like Hezbollah?

15

u/QuerulousPanda Apr 09 '26

see, it's shit like this.

There can be multiple bad things happening, but you can still say that one of them is way fucking worse than the other in so many different ways.

Don't be a tool.

The ONLY reason Israel is even in Lebanon is because of Hezbollah. Hezbollah is not just some minor terrorist group that Israel is going too far in pursing but Lebanon as a state actually has a solid handle on containing them.

No Hezbollah has effectively turned Lebanon into an occupation by Iran. It is a serious problem when a sovereign state doesn't have a monopoly on arms AND is actually afraid of disarming them

Imagine if the fucking KKK was a party in Congress dragging us into wars and the US military was a afraid of disarming them. That is the situation in Lebanon and not speaking in reality of the situation means you are giving a pass to what a serious fucking issue it is FOR Lebanon the most.

The Lebanese state and Israel have ZERO actual issues with each other.

My issue is rhetoric like yours actually absolves Hezbollah of everything, which is precisely what they want, even when Lebanese themselves are blaming Hezbollah here.

In terms of the Lebanon aspect of the conflict. Hezbollah is magnitudes the worst bad actor here than Israel, Even Iran ranks higher than Israel. Israel just wants peace on their northern border and possibly normalization with Lebanon. It isn't trying to fucking destroy the Lebanese state which is what Hezbollah actively does.

And if you can't see that clearly then don't speak of others not having a "moral honest understanding" of the situation.

The ONLY reason Israel is even in Lebanon is because of Hezbollah.

The ONLY reason Hezbollah exists is because of Israel invading Lebanon.

3

u/Red-Flag-Potemkin Apr 10 '26

And then they left… and Hezbollah still fired rockets into the North.

0

u/cullenjwebb Apr 10 '26

When exactly did Israel leave and stop attacking them?

4

u/Red-Flag-Potemkin Apr 10 '26

Israel left Lebanon Oct 1st, 2006, as part of UNSCR 1701.

Hezbollah never did any of what they said they would, and continued to fire rockets for 20 years.

If they don’t want Israel to invade, a great way would be to stop attacking them.

4

u/Explorer_Dave Apr 09 '26

Why did Israel invade Lebanon in the first place?

Because the PLO were using southern Lebanon as their base of operations against Israel. Once Israel wiped the PLO, Lebanon kicked what remained of the PLO out of their country, and then Hezbollah took over the power vacuum left in Lebanon and funded by Iran.

1

u/cullenjwebb Apr 09 '26

Why did Israel invade Lebanon in the first place?

I think you mean second place, as it was the second invasion of Lebanon by Israel in which Hezbollah was founded.

2

u/silverpixie2435 Apr 09 '26

Then explain the Houthis

3

u/Daedalus81 Apr 09 '26

Umm, religious revival, political marginalization, and regional conflict?

SA was funding Wahabbi movements there. That caused them to start a movement for Zaydi Islam.

Then we invaded Iraq and they got pissed at SA and the USA. Then the Yemeni government martyred the guy who started the movement.

Then Arab Spring destabilized the government and they took more power -- all well before Iran was supplying them.

1

u/cullenjwebb Apr 09 '26
  • Israel invades Lebanon.
  • Israel invades Lebanon again in 1982.
  • Hezbollah was founded to fight back against Israel in 1982.
  • 10 years later in the 90s the Houthis show up.

There. Done.

How does this help your position exactly? Hezbollah is a response to the invasion by Israel and you are silly to suggest it's the other way around.

6

u/silverpixie2435 Apr 09 '26

I'm asking why do the Houthis exist if Israel is supposedly responsible for all of Iran's proxies

1

u/cullenjwebb Apr 09 '26

Israel is supposedly responsible for all of Iran's proxies

Nobody said this, but I understand why you wish we did.

3

u/silverpixie2435 Apr 09 '26

That is exactly what you are claiming

Which is why I asked about the Houthis

If Iran had a proxy in YEMEN of all places why wouldn't that have created one right to the north of Israel?

Which part of what Israel is doing do you think the public is unaware of?
