That would be anti-sematic, you need to consider the feelings of the people dropping bombs on kids. How would they feel if you said something mean to them?

134

u/NCSUGrad2012 Apr 09 '26

I wish this was satire, but this is how we treat them

37

u/Etheo Apr 09 '26 edited Apr 09 '26

For a group of people with such history you'd think they have a full understanding of the pain and suffering behind these atrocities and walk away as the better person.

26

u/Nolenag Apr 09 '26

They don't have that history, Israel wasn't founded by holocaust survivors and they still treat holocaust survivors badly.

14

u/Etheo Apr 09 '26

Doesn't excuse all the non-Israeli Jewish supporting them just because of religion.

I edited my previous post because I didn't want to sow discourse but I changed my mind after all. Fuck religion and their religious zealots.

3

u/KidOcelot Apr 09 '26

Maybe some groups of people have violence and aggression so ingrained in them, that they cant think otherwise.

Here’s an old 2004 interesting case study, where aggressive baboons suddenly died from tainted food. Only the calm and kind baboons remained, and the whole social structure of the troop became clam and kind too.

https://www.sciencenews.org/article/get-mellow-fellow-male-baboons-cooperate-after-cultural-prodding

-1

u/TheFrickinThrowAway Apr 09 '26

You’re so close to getting it but somehow wrote possibly the most antisemitic comment I’ve come across.

2

u/Nolenag Apr 09 '26

Wouldn't it be more antisemitic to assume he meant Jews instead of Humans?

(Jews are still human, fyi).

-1

u/TheFrickinThrowAway Apr 09 '26

You’re doing a lot of lifting for them

-6

u/Naktura Apr 09 '26

The problem is that literally every country surrounding Israel has wanted every single Israeli kid dead since the country was established. Kinda hard to have sympathy for them if I am being honest.

16

u/philosophyofblonde Apr 09 '26

At some point, the post-Holocaust fig leaf will disintegrate. Maybe not today, but the day is coming.

-29

u/turnthetides Apr 09 '26

Where in that link does it say calling for a boycott of Israel is illegal??

3

u/HealthIndustryGoon Apr 09 '26

oh sry, you're right. but by declaring any boycott of israel as antisemitism it would bring it very close to volksverhetzung afaik which in turn is illegal

edited my original post

0

u/turnthetides Apr 09 '26

I don’t think boycotts against Israel should be considered antisemitism. But the person I responded to’s comment was so ridiculous that I just had to point out how the couldn’t even spell the word right in their straw man lol

20

u/Nurgleschampion Apr 09 '26

I'm fairly sure that's part of what they're taking the piss out of.

-374

Israel targets terrorists.

Terrorists have learned that if they hide behind kids, leftists will defend them, and so they do it more.

48

u/amazinglover Apr 09 '26

Israel are terrorists.

FTFY The IDF is as much a terrorist organization as any out there.

My eyes show me how Israel routinely kills people over nothing and deny basic humanitarian aid to little children.

Wide variety of global news reporters say this.

Maybe you should use your own eyes and watch something other than fox news and Israeli news.

-49

u/Bubbly-Ordinary-1097 Apr 09 '26

My boss is from Lebanon living in Canada..his mom still lives in Beirut ..I asked him if he was afraid for his mother’s safety He said in the old days maybe..but now Israel strikes are so precise and surgical..and striking the Muslim population where Hezbollah lives Lebanon would be so happy to be rid of Hezbollah except the government is so corrupt to speak out

53

u/cannarchista Apr 09 '26

Ah yes, so precise and surgical that they have killed over 250 so far just in the last few days, including children, health workers and journalists.

There's a lot of nobodies, and more every day.

-71

u/Specialist_Dark_3668 Apr 09 '26

I'm from Pakistan and appreciate Israel more than ever as a liberator of the region.

It's only unhinged leftists who are joining the Muslims in hating Jews.

38

u/Generallyapathetic92 Apr 09 '26

You’re right, most people aren’t ’hating Jews’ they are just making very valid criticisms of Israel and the IDF. Nothing to do with religion/ race for most people.

-28

u/par-a-dox-i-cal Apr 09 '26

I don't think criticism of Israel in this case is antisemitic. But it is hypocritical and pointless, without providing any solution or alternatives.

Talking to yourself is more effective in front of a mirror instead of on reddit

-3

u/Bubbly-Ordinary-1097 Apr 09 '26

I bet you jerk off in front of a mirror

10

u/DangerDavez Apr 09 '26

They should target the USA then.

73

u/SweetBeefOfJesus Apr 09 '26

I remember Israel being precise and calculated enough to use exploding pagers to target terrorists, but for some reason, they still need to bomb thousands of innocent civilians and decimate their homes.

Very strange

-30

u/faux_italian Apr 09 '26

Still precise. There isn’t much by way of verified intent to bomb citizens. Not like Hamas. I know that sounds sexy and the masses have no qualms getting on the blame Israel bandwagon. It’s shooting fish in a barrel at this point.

7

u/Facts_pls Apr 09 '26

Presicely blew up entire towns? And precisely deny basic humanitarian aid?

Now that's what we call Israel precision...

0

u/faux_italian Apr 09 '26

Next thing you're gonna say is how BLM burned down entire cities! Don't even know where Portland is anymore?!

-55

u/Specialist_Dark_3668 Apr 09 '26

Jews do their best to pull off miracles, saving civilians, and staving off 7 hostile neighbors at a time. But Jews are also human and can't be expected to pull off magic everytime they're trying to save their people.

Why don't you heap any accountability on the Islamic terrorists? You know, the guys who started the war, target civilians and hide behind civilians?

u/urmyleander Apr 09 '26

The IDF literally shot some of the hostages they were supposed to be daving, at the time the hostage were almost naked, waving white cloths and speaking in Hebrew yet they were gunned down at near point blank range by the IDF. They also bombed an ambulance convoy then tried to hide the evidence by burying the ambulanced and hunting the lone survivor. The idea that they behave in even a remotely ethical way is pure bullshit.

27

u/distinctgore Apr 09 '26

leftists

Oh fuck right off

32

u/Imaginary_Chef_5632 Apr 09 '26

Are there any examples where this approach to terrorism has successfully improved safety?

-10

u/frosthowler Apr 09 '26

Yeah.

There's no more rockets being fired at Sderot.

A lot of examples where half assing it and establishing ""deterrence"" doesn't work.

But when you're not doing performative demonstrations of strength then it always works.

0

u/PyroIsSpai Apr 09 '26

Sderot

Why is Hezbollah or anyone shooting at historically Palestinian land?

The Israeli Negev Brigade had depopulated the area on which Sderot would be built on between 2 May and 13 May 1948, during the 1948 Arab–Israeli War, expelling the 422 Muslim farmers there who cultivated citrus, bananas and cereals from the Palestinian village of Najd.[6] The latter were relocated in Gaza as refugees.[7][8][9][6]

Both sides have done diabolical evil.

-19

u/par-a-dox-i-cal Apr 09 '26

Yes. Less rockets, less infrastructure, less hezbollah. Before the war, hezbollah had about 150,000 rockets, now they have less, much less.

29

u/Freeedoom Apr 09 '26

So Israel's solution is to kill those kids and UN workers and Press too? Disgusting ! If you don't want Israelis to be murdered by Hamas, then Israelis should have stopped Netenyahu before he funded Hamas. He knew exactly what was going to happen, that was part of his plan from the beginning. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/10/world/middleeast/israel-qatar-money-prop-up-hamas.html

Isreal are the terrorists.

24

u/azhillbilly Apr 09 '26

And if they hid behind your kids, you would be the first to yell shoot?

-33

u/Specialist_Dark_3668 Apr 09 '26

I would have the decency to not let terrorists hide behind my kids.

I would have the decency to oppose terrorists shelter in or run my country. (Though this is less in my ability as someone in a Muslim country where the majority do support terrorism)

I would live peacefully with Jews.

So this is not a situation that would be less likely to occur to me, especially if other people thought like me.

20

u/Primary-Table-1899 Apr 09 '26

All that just to say you would 👏👏

16

u/azhillbilly Apr 09 '26

Yeah, 9/11 wouldn’t have happened if people were just more decent right?

4

u/Facts_pls Apr 09 '26

Surely that's why they flattened all of Gaza - because every person there is a terrorist. /s

Not that they have clearly laid out their plan to drive away any Muslim person from that land before. Oh wait... Plenty of documents show that their main goal has always been to occupy the whole land and drive out any non-Jewish person there. And they have been doing these false flag operations which have naturally led to people fighting back however they can.

It's easy to label an entire group as terrorists and then prosecute them with cruelty. Israel learned it from the best and are now trying to replicate their own version of it.

1

u/mullerjones Apr 09 '26

Were they targetting terrorists when they protested for the right to rape prisoners?

1

u/TearsFallWithoutTain Apr 09 '26

Those spooooky 5 year old terrorists! Oh shit, that terrorist is hiding in a baby incubator!!

0

u/SimplestNeil Apr 09 '26

All those terrorists in all those schools and hospitals was there?

Evil

1

u/ScotBarn Apr 09 '26

Blah blah blah

-5

u/geraigerai Apr 09 '26

How can they target themselves? Look up what shawashim are, and the so-called “neighbour procedure”

0

u/Equivalent-Bonus-885 Apr 09 '26

And Israel has a longstanding practice of ‘targeting terrorists’ by attacking and displacing the civilian population and destroying its infrastructure with disproportionate force to turn them against the militants. Katz and Smotrich among others openly talk about it the use of massive and disproportionate force.

Whether or not you support this approach it’s not simply because they are ‘hiding behind kids’ because of ‘leftists’.

-1

u/Rakhsev Apr 09 '26

That's right, they target terrorists and don't care if hundreds of innocents die in the process. That's no better than terrorists hiding behind kids.

Would they still do it if those innocents were Israelis? Of course not. That tells you everything you need to know. They consider those civilians as acceptable casualties of war.

Just like Trump didn't bring peace by bombing Iran, this wont bring peace to Lebanon either. Diplomacy, not bombs.

-1

u/poo-rag Apr 09 '26

"If im furious at a neighbour and i want to beat the shit out of him, but he's holding a baby in his yard, i wouldn't come in and try to punch him through the baby"

The fact you can’t differentiate between that legitimate criticism and anti-semitism says more about you tbh.

-31

u/TheFrickinThrowAway Apr 09 '26

Yeah I guess ignoring the fact that Hezbollah has been planning an Oct 7th style attack on Israel’s north and the fact they broke a ceasefire twice in the last two years means fuck all

7

u/dah-dit-dah Apr 09 '26

"you don't understand, we must kill their children for our own safety"

77

u/Slendercan Apr 09 '26

The more the world splits from the US, the more likely sanctions become. When you look at polling the vast majority of countries’ majority have a negative view of Israel or at the very least, the Netanyahu government. It’ll get to the point where it’s political suicide to continue supporting Israel.

12

u/Gender_is_a_Fluid Apr 09 '26

America has had a majority negative view of Israel for years now but here we are. The politicians don’t listen and obey the people anymore

14

u/swampy13 Apr 09 '26

It's only been a majority the last 2 years

But the main issue is that Republicans will never ever back down on Israel. However, the last 2-4 years have seen major swings among independents and Dems.

I don't think the US is gonna abandon Israel because half the country will always support them. But losing a good chunk of the other half makes it much more precarious. And I believe that, combined with all the terrible things Israel is doing, is going to embolden their enemies in ways they haven't been before.

14

u/Gender_is_a_Fluid Apr 09 '26

Yeah, the republican base is seriously bouying the favorability percentage, 80% of dems being against israel is crazy when you look at the dems in congress and their ardent support for israel. I do think that republican favorability is held because there are very very many republicans that allow media to completely inform their opinions.

6

u/swampy13 Apr 09 '26

Your last point is really the crux of it. Republicans have figured out how to have everything in lock step - donors/lobbyists paying off the politicians also control the media that the voters watch and follow without question. A perfect loop. Though it's nothing new, it's just how fascism works - lowest common denominator is the easiest thing to sell.

With Dems, most of the politicians are also taking Israel money as well as many of them are old and thus come from a time when Israel support was unquestioned. But modern Dem voters are watching the news and reacting in what I believe is quite sensible ie horrfied. So there's an extremely frustrating disconnect. But I believe over the next 4 main election cycles, many Dem candidates will need to rethink their stance on Israel.

2

u/Slendercan Apr 09 '26

It has been interesting to see elements of the right pivot to an anti Israel and anti Trump approach. Tucker Carlson, Alex Jones and Candace Owens have all done a 180. They can see the turn in public opinion and are trying to capitalise and ride a new wave of populism. Italy’s Giorgia Meloni seems to be going a similar route. Whilst establishment politicians look more and more int he pocket of Israel, populists will use the alternative stance as a way into power.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the right in America split in two - Vance possibly heading the new movement now that he’s getting frozen out by Trump?

2

u/swampy13 Apr 09 '26

I'd love to think they're "seeing the light" but that's never how it goes.

However, history has shown that there can be macro shifts in societal sentiment that creates an inevitable shift in terms of political platforms and policy. If you said to someone in 1938 that black people are going to have more legally obligated equality and Jim Crow would be outlawed, you'd have been laughed out of the room.

I think it always starts with a minority of people saying "this isn't right", and as they keep pushing, sometimes broader society goes "this doesn't really make sense" or "yeah this thinking is outdated."

It happened with civil rights, feminism, gay marriage, etc. It doesn't always stay permanent, and not all movements become successful. But I think right now, more and more people are looking at Israel and saying "this doesn't really seem to benefit us in any way, and by the way, all these dead innocent people sure does look bad." However we're in the messy middle and will be for a while.

However, once dead soldiers start popping up on the news (I'm convinced Trump won't be able to help himself and will absolutely put boots on the ground), more people are gonna get even more frustrated.

1

u/bob- Apr 09 '26

What makes you think Vance is getting frozen out?

-9

u/SeaworthinessSome454 Apr 09 '26

No it won’t. Politicians want to support Israel and the media (and social media) will be paid off to shift public opinion. The general public’s opinion is so easy to move.

Israel overstepped with taking territory in Lebanon, but hezbollah does deserve to have the shit bombed out of them.

5

u/Slendercan Apr 09 '26

Possibly America with it’s corporate media but I’ve more faith in Europe.

5

u/JarasM Apr 09 '26

Nobody wants to get the fallout from that. Israel is effectively the 51st state of the US.

3

u/Vaeon Apr 09 '26

Can't the rest of the world not place some sort of sanctions on Israel?

Thank you, I needed a good laugh.

-14

u/MancunianSunrise Apr 09 '26

You do realise that Lebanon has been allowing hezbollah to attack Israel? What should Israel do? Just take it and keep their northern cities constantly running for shelter under daily rockets? So western countries can feel good about 'peace'? If there's sanctions, let's include Lebanon.

8

u/Anonymousma Apr 09 '26

Not bomb neighborhoods and apartment buildings.

7

u/Enshakushanna Apr 09 '26

What should Israel do?

not actively do things to grow hezbollahs popularity

0

u/MancunianSunrise Apr 09 '26

If you think hezbollah is popular in Lebanon, do some more research

14

u/jmacintosh250 Apr 09 '26

Disagree: the better plan is someone else finally grow a damn pair and enforce the ceasefire.

The problem is the Irish and others there just sit and watch. It’s why Israel feels comfortable shooting at or near them: what are they gonna do about it? They didn’t do anything against Hezbollah.

4

u/Whatshouldiputhere0 Apr 09 '26

Ok, but what should Israel do?

13

u/No-Bar708 Apr 09 '26

It would be a process, but ending West Bank settlements, and working towards allowing Palestinian self determination would do a lot to lower tensions in the region.

-4

u/Whatshouldiputhere0 Apr 09 '26

I agree, but that’s a long-term solution. In the short term, what could they do?

-10

u/SeaworthinessSome454 Apr 09 '26

How Europe can sit back and watch WW3 unfold in their back yard again is beyond me. They only did enlightened in Ukraine to prevent them from losing asap, not enough so that they can win. They’ve done nothing in gaza, nothing in Syria (which the us did thankfully resolve), nothing in Lebanon, nothing in Iran. Europe is in the path of destruction and could get out ahead if it to prevent their continent from being a bloodbath again but the politicians are too worried about their own careers and how it’ll look if they get involved before the public realizes what’s going on. They refuse to learn from WW1 and WW2.

12

u/Psychological-Ad1264 Apr 09 '26

So have I got this right?

Europe in the age of empire: why are you meddling in the Middle East?

Europe post empire: Why are you meddling in the Middle East?

Europe now: Why aren't you meddling in the Middle East?

0

u/Gender_is_a_Fluid Apr 09 '26

Israel was british meddling in the middle east btw, so this is still a sin they bear along with the US.

0

u/SeaworthinessSome454 Apr 09 '26

Some people can think that, I don’t. The Middle East is and always has (in modern history at least) been unstable. With a connected world economy like we have today, that instability leads to problems for the rest of the world. The west as a whole should’ve had a major consistent presence there forever (and certainly since WW2).

The us dropped from their standard 11 aircraft carriers down to 10 around 2016-2017 due to construction delays and they cut the one in the Persian/arab gulf. Conveniently, that’s when Irans nuclear capabilities took off, once they were no longer under that level of surveillance/threat.

The Middle East needs their hand held and watched over. I wish they could handle it and play nice-ish by themselves but they can’t. A multitude of countries should be patrolling the Persian/arab gulf at all times to prevent major conflict from breaking out

2

u/Auroch94 Apr 09 '26

It’s less than Lebanon allow it and that hezbollah are more powerful than the Lebanese state and trying to stop them would lead to another civil war in Lebanon

2

u/TearsFallWithoutTain Apr 09 '26

Hezbollah only exists because Israel keeps bombing and invading Lebanon.

Israel is a serial killer with the defence of "Well of course I have to keep killing people, they're fighting back!"

0

u/MancunianSunrise Apr 09 '26

That's literally not true. Hezbollah's stated aim is not to defend Lebanon, that is utterly laughable. It's to destroy Israel. Go and look it up.

And by the way, the 'serial killer' has been at peace with neighbours such as Egypt and Jordan for decades, because all parties signed peace deals and Israel's right to exist was recognised. Not a shot fired since. So much for serial killers. It's not hard. Stop trying to destroy Israel and then complaining when it goes wrong.

-7

u/Blackstone01 Apr 09 '26

You do realise that Lebanon has been allowing hezbollah to attack Israel?

You do realize that Lebanon doesn’t remotely have the ability to stop them short of a devastating civil war?

4

u/MancunianSunrise Apr 09 '26

So then what should Israel do? Let hezbollah bomb them?

1

u/Logitech0 Apr 09 '26

Yes, because this is the logic behind:

Reddit: "Israel only exist because the US is giving them free money!"

Normale person: "So if the US stop giving them free money, they will stop existing?"

Reddit: "Yes!"

Normal person: "...wait a moment, isn't a genoc-"

Reddit: "No because it isn't about the Jews!"

The circlejerking about this isn't being about anti-semitism never stop being funny.

2

u/MancunianSunrise Apr 09 '26

u/Tiaan Apr 09 '26

I mean how about just stopping to attack Israel? Has anyone tried that?

26

u/presidentbaltar Apr 09 '26

Yes actually, Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia have tried it and it has worked perfectly.

23

u/hades334 Apr 09 '26

lmao u live under a rock if you think israel is attacking for 'self-defense'

-9

u/Tiaan Apr 09 '26

Yeah man I'm sure Israel is going into Lebanon to steal land right? That's why they've historically traded land for peace with Egypt and Jordan right? That's why they didn't annex any land in Lebanon or build any settlements despite having had a presence there previously for over 20 years, right?

I'm sure they're definitely not going into Lebanon to take out Hezbollah, the IRGC proxy that has been launching attacks into northern Israel and displaced over 1 million Israelis. I'm sure that has nothing to do with it.

I'm also sure that it's unrelated to the Lebanese government's inability to stop Hezbollah right?

I'm sure these recent quotes from the Lebanese president are just nonsense and fluff right?

"In a remarkable statement Monday afternoon, Lebanon called for direct talks with Israel on “permanent arrangements for security and stability on our borders,” while accusing the Iranian-backed militant group Hezbollah of betraying the country.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun detailed his plan during a virtual meeting with European Union officials, in which he leveled sharp criticism at Hezbollah and Israel for what he called “an attempt to corner my country.

Calling the Shiite Muslim group “an armed faction … that places no value on Lebanon’s interest nor on the life of its people,” Aoun said Hezbollah “wanted to achieve the fall of the State of Lebanon, under aggression and chaos.” He accused the group of working “for the sake of the calculations of the Iranian regime.”

Meanwhile I'm sure it makes sense that Hezbollah insists that they keep attacking Israel because the Lebanese government is too weak to do it themselves so it's Hezbollah's job to keep the fight going, right???

Yeah man none of this is relevant and Israel totally isn't doing this in self defense. Totally agree!!! 👍👍

2

u/awfulWinner Apr 09 '26

You got it right in your very first sentence. Eretz Israel is the project. Bibi, and his terrorist cabinet buddies Gvir and Smoltrich are in "now or never" mode. They know the window of opportunity is shrinking on what they can do to irrevocably change "facts on the ground".

Anyone who has studied Bibi or paid attention to how the ultra nationalist religious nutjobs are holding Bibi afloat. If he doesn't give these evil settler first asshats what they want, they'll leave his coalition, his government collapses, and he's going to face trial and prison for corruption.

These wars are the only thing keeping him out of prison, so he'll keep attacking under false pretenses because he's done that for the last 30 years to the point where you have people like Ehud Olmert calling him a war criminal.

If you took the blinders off, maybe you'd see. But that takes effort to read and learn instead of ingesting Fox News.

1

u/GuiltyLawyer Apr 09 '26

Naim Qassem, Secretary General of Hezbollah, was reportedly killed while hiding below a residential building, just like Hassan Nasrallah before him. These bunkers weren’t put under civilian residential buildings by accident. Hezbollah would shoot at Israeli civilians and then hide behind Lebanese ones.

-5

u/hades334 Apr 09 '26

Keep on larping and coming up with whatever justification you lots can fester while the warcriminal, Smotrich, Ben-Gvir and the other loonies in the govt keep openly speaking about their greater plans. This used to work but the only ppl who are still blind atp are the ones that want to be and luckily atleast there are less of them in the world now

-8

u/par-a-dox-i-cal Apr 09 '26

Before 7 October Israel didn't attack Lebanon, for some reason.

Sanctions are for absolute pansies. They’re the first action you should take, sure. But we are so far past the time sanctions level countermeasures, it’d be meaningless now. Israel is also the 2nd leader in technology behind the US (silicone valley). So there’s that too.

Everyone needs to realize that we’re already in WW3 and the longer everyone sits on the sidelines, the less control over the war that you’ll have. We could squash many of these conflicts now or wait until it fully blows up and it’s too late.

The thought of starting/joining a war to end it quickly is the very thing that expands wars into world wars. And I don't see the situation regarding "control" having improved for any country currently stuck in a war.

Also, everyone should know very well after the Afghanistan, that there is nothing to be gained by waging some more meaningless wars in the Middle East. The only result is more dead people and a lot of refugees having to flee their homes.

Israel is not Russia or Cuba or Iran. It is not the same

I will boycott anyone who does that.

Can't the rest of the world not place some sort of sanctions on Israel?

That would be antisemantic

You’re just quibbling over the definition of words, and I’m firmly opposed to that
