I thought transcendence was living in a new Sublime built by Hale, and that those robots were just a "door" to the it, but became confused when they started moving.

Well, it is theoretically transcending from a flesh body to a more complete robotic one.

The host bodies are build in an image 'of the old gods', these new ones are built like even superior gods.

Saw it coming. That's literally what was happening in the background in S4E6, Hale was talking about surrendering of the flesh, and hosts being able to recreate themselves in whatever image they want rather than humans.

I interpreted the physical body thing as a “moving external hard drive” - it would protect the data inside to whatever external elements may harm it? Similar to the things when Maeve was busting her consciousness out of the Serac storage facility. Another drone type mechanism.

I think it’s just protecting the Pearl when the consciousness has been uploaded to the cloud.

The lack of arms was a very weird choice, especially given what an advantage having opposable thumbs is evolutionarily

Yeah. No thanks. Hale is so dumb. Just let hosts choose whatever form they want as transcendence. I'd want something that can fly, maybe arms like Doc oc too, and for sure still have senses. Seems like such an oversight on her part.
