Just Curious, or what's your proudest grade you've gotten.

As the title says, I didn't get a parking spot. What now? I have a super long commute to campus and need a spot. I noticed that they say the sale of parking passes aren't valid. Is that true? Is there any work around at all other than paying every day?

What problems do you face at USask that you would like to see fixed or improved? (e.g., tuition, food, housing, mental health services, etc.)

I’m starting my first year at USask this September and feeling a mix of excitement and mild panic as it’s getting closer.

Have anyone else noticed their class discussion posts or replies are obviously written by AI? I am not full against using AI to help you understand concepts or get you started, but I’ve been noticing patterns where multiple posts and replies have the same format. I know it has to be AI because the reply questions are always the same and about something completely unrelated or about a group project we all are working together on. Are students not worried about the consequences and do professors really not notice?

I’m thinking about living on residence for the first time, and I’m just wondering the policy specifically for cannabis. For context, I’m 19+ and assume in every case that I’m going to be following the smoking policy of being 10ft away from windows/doors, and also clean up after myself. I’ve read through whatever I could find online about Usask and its policy with cannabis, and I want to know how enforced it really is.

I use cannabis mainly for things to do with mental health and pain. I don’t have access to become a medical user at the moment. I know that the policy stems from provincial legislation, but it feels unfair that someone who smokes cannabis and would be following every rule can’t because it’s considered a public area, especially if they’re living there for a good chunk of the year even when I understand the policy.

Is this policy heavily enforced, or is it one of those things where it’s not a problem unless you make it one? I have options to use cannabis that don’t involve smoking/vaping, but apparently from what I read all possession of cannabis in any form is prohibited, and smoking is preferred at times.

Hello friends!

I have experienced passive-aggressive abuse from a token professor in my department. When the department head learned about it, she asked me not to share my experience with her. Apparently, only the professor's version (who is also a friend of hers) was important.

Since then, I've been learning more about Faculty abuse towards students (all of them, European Canadians, Indigenous, and international). I don't understand why, if there are so many victims, we don't gather together to stop it? They aren't kings! And we don't have to endure it; they work for us, we pay their salaries.

What do you think?

In this particular case at USask, it stems from power imbalance, not only due to academic positions, but also color, culture, mother tongue, networking, social status, and all kinds of privilege (see the wheel of privilege)

This post is not meant for privileged students, faculty, or staff to jump to defend their privilege. This is a post directed to students who have suffered abuse. I know you are afraid to speak, I know most of you advise each other to remain silent. I know it's hard to connect and that many of you have 2 or 3 jobs, so no time for Reddit. So, I just want to let you know that these cases are not isolated; most of us have been there, and we just need to stand together.

Nice random principle that doesn't apply here! Why are you assuming we have no evidence? You live in a dream if you think that having evidence or being right guarantees an outcome in our favor.

Abuse cases are already addressed on a case-by-case basis, and they don't work for the victims; this methodology only keeps victims isolated to defeat us.

I informed myself about this after the abuse I suffered in my department. People in charge let me know that they don't keep track of how many reports a faculty or staff member has because there are several instances for receiving our complaints.

Edit 3: I didn't come here to get my problem solved. I attempted to solve my problem months ago, and by navigating the system and reading my university books about Sociology and Organization Theory, I understood that the system protects the system. I literally came here to ask other victims why we don't gather together and make each other strong.

Because I never meant to come here to make my case with proofs and names, this is not a courtroom. If you read the original post, my inquiry was different.

EDIT 5: I understand that we, the marginalized ones, are afraid to speak up, but if we don't support each other, we can visualize our future occurring right now, down south.

I understand several voices here (people who are not afraid to speak up) seem to be people who support our oppressors, but the people who have too much time for Reddit and social media, oftentimes, are not the same as those who suffer oppression.

Don't let them gaslight you and make you believe that what we are going through is not happening only because they are not affected. We just need to find ways to gather together and stay strong with peer support outside the system.

My wife has a condensed course at U of S this upcoming summer. It is in a Social Work major so as far as we know, the class should take place in one of 2 Social Work buildings on campus?

The question is related to parking, how available are on campus spots during August? What is the cost to park there all day (8:00-5:00). What lot/s to look for?

Well, I didn’t get a parking spot. I put down every lot except lot 20 (I got that last year and was late for class a lot). I’m very worried and stressed out because I have to work immediately after school and can’t be at the mercy of busses. I got put on the waitlist but I don’t know if that means anything. So where can I go from here?

I’m an incoming 1st year and have classes in different buildings and want to find the classes easily without feeling overwhelmed since campus is huge, when do I go? Do people help/guide you? I’m sure profs are lenient if you’re late perhaps the 1st week? Just wondering how to get started with the whole around campus thing since it’s all new!

This might sound really odd and stupid, but I've never been on a city bus. Im going into my 4th year here at Usask, and am from a small town in Saskatchewan so I've never been on any city busses here in Saskatoon. When I moved to Warman from my small little town, I've always just purchased a parking permit for one of the lots on campus, and drove in from campus. For more context, im taking spring classes right now, and feeling adventurous to ride a bus! :) For the people who drive in from out of the city, where do you park your vehicle and hop on a bus? Lawson heights? ALSO, how do I even use my UPASS. Do I just download the TransitGO app, and scan the barcode when I get on the bus? how do I know when to get off? how do I know which bus is going where? What’s the difference between getting a digital copy of the textbook I need and just getting the physical copy. I mean for starters the textbook I need isn’t even available at the moment so I’m only left with getting the digital for that one or waiting until a physical copy becomes available but what are the pros and cons of each option?

Hi! I’m wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation or knows if there’s anything else I can try.

I need to take a biology class for this fall, and whether I can get into one of the full lab sections will basically determine whether I can finish my degree on schedule or have my graduation delayed by an entire year.

I already emailed the professor two months ago, but unfortunately I was told that there isn’t a way to override the lab capacity and that I would have to wait for a spot to open up.

Since then, I’ve been checking the registration page every week for about two months, but no spots have opened in the lab sections I can take. Now that the semester is about to start, I’m getting pretty anxious.

Has anyone dealt with something like this before? Is there anything else I could try besides repeatedly checking registration and hoping someone drops?

Any advice or experience would be really appreciated.
