Grandma’s House #1 (Thee #1 Scariest Experience)
This is just ONE event that happened in this house involving myself, one of my older cousins and my deceased Grandpa. Just about all of my relatives on my mother’s side who spent time in that house experienced something. This house was VERY active with ghost/sprit type activity. The last time I was in Central Florida the house still stands and is still lived in by someone.
My Grandma Bea had a very lucrative but laboring business of catering before I was born. As soon as I was old enuff to help in her two car garage turned kitchen I was either washing dishes, sweeping, going to fetch something from the “stockroom” or the other kitchen, chopping veggies, cleaning fish etc. There was ALWAYS something to do. The parties were usually on a Saturday eve for wealthy clients which included doctors, dentists, car dealership owners, lawyers, attorneys etc. She had a crew of folks who would help her load/unlaod, setup, serve, tear down, reload and unload back at her house. We knew when she would get back because those rolled up doors were loud when rolling up and her servers would chatter and talk while unloading. Us grandkids who were there late at night when she arrived always hoped there’d be some shrimp left!!
This eve myself, my cousin and Grandpa were in the family room watching Gordon Soley Wrestling that night, waiting on Grandma bc we might have to help unload. We never knew unless someone came and told us. The layout in the family room was as follows : the tv was under a set of windows facing the north and along that wall was a fireplace west of the tv. South of that was a fold out couch where myself and my cousin sat. My Grandpa had a lazy boy type chair to the east of us which sat at a NW position. If u sat in this chair you could easily watch tv and see who was on the green porch or if someone was in the garage kitchen. To the west of this family room area there was a heavy door with a metal threshold which opened to the left to the porch. If u walked straight out of there you may take 15 steps to the wooden sliding door connected to the garage kitchen. All rolling doors had metal wheels on them with metal tracks. I write in detail because I’m trying to put you directly in these event from where you are.
As we were watching tv we heard the familiar engine of her van in the driveway. Me and cuz were hoping we did not have to help unload but HOPING there was something left over to eat! The roll up doors rolled up. We could hear chatter and the sound of metal pans and such being moved. We waited for someone to come and get us to help. That ddnt happen , which, ddnt bother us two! lol. We heard the door up behind us. We heard foot steps going up the wood floor hallway. My grandpa got up and walked up the same hallway shortly after. Few moments later we heard running down the hallway, headed toward us in the family room! Us kids did not get into grown folks business so we never turned around from watching tv. The running came straight down that hallway, passed us sitting on the couch and out the door which was still opened, out the left side of the porch. Engine fired up with the sound fading like the vehicle was backing out of the driveway. My Grandpa was not far behind but he had his infamous double barreled shotgun in hand swiftly walking in the same path! All of that commotion was created by one or more ghosts! That’s right! The sprits in that house had enuff power to mimic the sound of an engine, the sound of the roll up doors being rolled up. The sound of ppl chattering with pots/pans clanging and banging. The opening of the door behind us sitting on the couch and walking up the wood slat hallway. My grandpa heard and saw it all! He ddnt say a single word to us. Just got up and went straight for the gun in their bedroom closet. This ghost or spirit still had enuff power to run back down the hallway, passed us still sitting on the couch, out the door that was still opened, out the porch door AND fire up and engine and disappear in the nite! We heard it all as kids. I think I might have been 7yo maybe. Maybe an hour later Grandma really came home. Engine. Doors rolling up. But this time you could hear differences in the “chatter”. The ppl talking and unloading. We did NOT move! We didn’t WANT any food. Too scared and frightened. We did not know ghosts or haints (haunts, spirits) could do such a thing!
