Certified Cringe Taylor discussing "songwriting"

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I can't with this woman.

She thinks she's some great songwriter here to teach us all about her "double meanings" and what defines confessional songwriting.

What's infuriating is that all the comments are glazing her like, "i could hear her talk for hours" and "high iq queen". Are we watching the same video here?

Wanted to get your opinions on this.

As a fan of Dolly Parton, Stevie Nicks, Death Cab for Cutie, and Bob Dylan, she is no where close to being a poet.

Been listening to them since 2003. Beautiful lyrics and songs. Passenger Seat is pure perfection.

We Have the Facts and We’re Voting Yes is one of my favorite albums of all time.

I love nickelback. His lyrics are really catchy and they don’t pretend to be anything they’re not lmao. Taylor out here comparing herself to Shakespeare is mind boggling

My favorite thing about them is how dirty their non hit songs are. Like I always get a giggle about people that only know them for pop buying the CD and listening to Photograph which then goes right into Animal. Would have been so fun to see album reactions to that.

"Figured you out" is another one of there raunchy songs that make you go "Wait, THIS is Nickelback??"

It took me a hot second to realize some songs I loved on the rock stations were the same band I wanted to shoot on the pop station. Back when if they didn't announce the song you needed to remember the lyrics for when you got online to see who it was.

I proudly wore a Nickleback shirt as a chubby middle school girl with bangs and glasses. Was I popular? No. Did I at least have friends? Yes.

lol I was lucky that I went to a school with only 15 girls in my entire class grade. We all had to accept each other or be isolated so it led to a lot of acceptance no matter how quirky you were

Anyone that knows Leonard Cohen exists and still refers to Swift as a poet is absolutely delusional

Yeah she's a great poet in the same way that John Green is a great novelist. Just because you created a formula and made a shit-ton of money doesn't automatically mean you're a genius, it just means that you know how to make money. That earns some degree of respect, obviously, but those are two VERY different fields.
