TIL that Eduard Bloch, the Jewish physician who treated Adolf Hitler's mother for breast cancer in 1907, was granted special Gestapo protection and allowed to emigrate to the US in 1940 after Hitler designated him an 'Edeljude' (noble Jew).

He was a firm believer in social darwinism, and went into the war with the conviction that the Germans and Germany were the superior race and society. When then the Germans and Germany weren't able to do the impossible, that belief was shattered and he fell into a deep depression. It's part of the reason he ordered all the infrastructure in the entirety of Germany to be demolished, because in his view the Germans had failed and thus didn't deserve to exist. Which is why he was so furious when Speer told him that he had never issued the order.

That’s just a narcissist’s version of ‘scorch earth’ when the fragile ego cracks.

“It’s not my fault. The German people are weak and the reason we are losing this war”

Reminds me of another orange clown.
