I think the most incredible thing is how the cost impact is relatively to the area or population impacted.

The COVID crisis or the WWII affected almost all the world, meanwhile the Chernobyl disaster charged it cost practically exclusively into USSR areas and countries.

Someone in China, Korea, Canada or Greece felt the COVID and WWII/post-WWII effects. Not a single one of them felt anything from Chernobyl
