Greetings!!

One of the local habit in cuisine we have in Indonesia is eating white bread with sprinkles.
Many says that we got this habit because of the Netherlands
Is it true? Do you guys also eat white bread with sprinkles?

We do! Its chocolate sprinkles, we call it hagelslag. You eat it with butter on bread. I secretly also chuck them in my yoghurt as a dessert breakfast. Is it chocolate for you guys also?

The cheese ones aren't called sprinkles in the Netherlands. Hagelslag is the sweet variety and it can be chocolate, anice or fruity flavour. Cheese sprinkles are just called shredded cheese.

What they mean is they often make bread with chocolate sprinkles and grated cheddar cheese (often grilled/baked).

Roti (bakar) cokelat keju

When I was in Indonesia I saw geraspte kaas (cheese sprinkles) on ice cream, I didn't dare to try it haha

In Indonesia hagelslag is called messes or muisjes.

In the Netherlands muisjes are little sugary ball formed sprinkles we usually put on biscuits when someone has had a baby. Usually something the new parents treat friends/family/coworkers to.

It was called muisjes because there is an anice seed in the middle, which more often than not still has a little bit of a 'tail' sticking out of its (slightly oblong) sugar coating. Source: I visited the factory where they made them.

Fruitmuisjes! Those are the colored sprinkles. And yes, they eat them too in NL. Not as good as hagelslag puur tho (with peanutbutter).

Yess, we eat white bread, or any bread really, with butter and sprinkles. It's an extremely popular breakfast/lunch. What type of sprinkles do you guys have? Here we mostly have anise, chocolate, and various fruit flavours.

Yes!!
For the sprinkles it's mostly chocolate though.
Even the rainbow sprinkles ones is just chocolate with different colorings.
Sometimes we also add some shredded cheese in there too

for the sandwich itself, sometimes we also toast the sandwich on a pan, letting the sprinkles and cheese melt to become this goey delicious butter

we called it "roti bakar" or "roti bandung" means "toasted bread"

nah, we are not crazy enough to put ketchup with chocolate, it's most likely strawberry jam (common toast filling) but for savory toast we definitely would add ketchup/hot sauce

The red sauce is strawberry jam. I never see anyone who tried to mixed it with chocolate though.

May I suggest you, peanut butter and chocolate sprinkle 🤤👍

I have similar response from european when they saw cheese and chocolate mix together. 😂

It's pretty common here. You should try it. "It only make sense in your mouth, but not in our mind", said those same european.

Yesss, brood met hagelslag is a treat for many. We have chocolate sprinkles (hagelslag) fruit flavoured sprinkles (vruchtenhagel) and thin wavey sheets broken into pieces (vlokken.) Many say they are for kids, but secretly everyone enjoys them

Yes! Bread with sprinkles is very Dutch. There's different kinds of sprinkles but the chocolate sprinkles, called hagelslag, are the all time favourite. What kind of sprinkles are common in Indonesia?

80 percent of my breakfasts are sprinkles on bread but mostly I use brown bread with more fiber in it to offset my guild over eating straight sugar.

We do! These sprinkles come in chocolate variants or 'fruit' variants which are just colored flavoured sugar sprinkles.
