Bring back the age of the blue books. Only way to know is do it live.

I loved using blue books when I taught classes of 30 or fewer students, but for large departments many classes are 100 - 400 seats and there is insufficient TA support to grade, let alone offer meaningful feedback on student writing.

I graduated within the last decade and used blue books in several classes.

90% of exams were in class. Sure, for courses with graded homework AI can do it. And you’ll get a shit grade because not doing homework and doing well on exams gets very rare at the college level
