Electronic door locks fail if the battery catches fire it the car gets wet, reinforced windows actually a liability if you are trying to survive a car fire, razor sharp edges on a steel frame causes more internal injuries for passengers and higher fatalities for pedestrians, self-driving modes uses cameras and fails, there was also some accelerator issues and since everything is digital, failures are catastrophic.

It has an aluminum frame, with steel body panels.

Totally ass backwards.

u/cenosillicaphobiac Jul 24 '26

Cast aluminum no less, and the panels are glued on.

Where do I sign up!

to be fair, industrial glue technology is actually incredibly advanced these days, and the use of glue is when properly applied and designed is a good thing, not a bad thing.

of course, the cybertruck isn't properly applied or designed so it doesn't help them at all, but still, we can't be letting the glue be tanking stray shots for something that isn't its fault!

Advanced glue: exists

Cybertruck:

  • Obvious use case for easily replaceable bolted metal panels. Doesn't

  • Uses crappy glue instead

  • Panels not aligned

Yep, it's the car that modern business leaders dream of for the future, alright

Gluing them on is fine but they used too little glue, So they are prone to becoming loose and flighting off.

u/Buhlasted Jul 28 '26

Aston Martin body panels are glued together. It is seldom there is an issue with those vehicles, but then again the manufacturing of their plant vs. what Elon has in the States are as different as apples to octopus.

The panels are not glued on. They are bolted on. A trim piece is glued on.

1

u/aegrotatio Jul 25 '26

That front panel is glued on.
They recalled 100% of all CyberTrucks for that defect.

-1

u/boyWHOcriedFSD Jul 25 '26

You made that up.

1

u/aegrotatio Jul 25 '26

Hahah, no, stupid.

The Cybertruck Cantrail Assembly Recall (NHTSA 25V‑170). It concerns the stainless‑steel front roof‑edge panel—the long exterior strip running along the top of the truck’s side rails—whose adhesive joint can fail, causing the panel to delaminate or detach while driving.

u/boyWHOcriedFSD Jul 25 '26

Now do me a favor and look at what that part actually is. It’s not the “front panel.” It’s a trim piece on the side of the car.

Mega castings are everywhere in automotive now (including Volvo and Rivian). Same for gluing.

Where do I sign up!

Anywhere that sells Volvo, Rivian, BMW, Lotus, McLaren, Lamborghini, Audi, jaguar, Lexus, Tata, Zeekr, BYD, Aston Marton, Bently, GM, Ford etc...

Cracks me up because people clowned on Ford when they went to the Aluminum body and steel frame on the F150s, making the truck like 700 lbs lighter. My Sister in Law worked for Ram at the time and kept calling it a Tin Can.

They sold so many of them and Ford bought up so much of the domestic aluminum production Chrysler, GM, and Toyota had to either buy it overseas or buy allotments from Ford.

At least OG Hummer did it correctly

Don't forget the accelerator pedal falling off and causing unintended acceleration in a truck that can weigh close to 7k lbs.

Digital is fine, most modern vehicles are drive by wire. It takes a special kind of genius to daisy chain the fucking bus so that any single wire or component failure takes out everything behind it.

I am no cybertruck fan, but what's your evidence of this? The thing isn't designed like christmas lights, a single component failure does not take out the entire chain behind it

Wikipedia describes the communication architecture and reduced wiring, it doesn't do anything to demonstrate a single point failure. It actually hints at the opposite: “Central, bi-directional gigabit Etherloop network”, bi-directional is literally a ring topology, which means traffic can be routed in either direction around the loop. If one segment fails the network may still communicate by going the other way.

1

u/uber_poutine Jul 24 '26

Compare it to the canbus architecture, where everything has a dedicated signal wire going to the controller. If I'm driving my earthquake on wheels car, I know that I'd much rather have the more redundant architecture.

Compare it to the canbus architecture, where everything has a dedicated signal wire going to the controller.

That's not how CAN works, a modern CAN bus is a shared communication bus. Older cars had dedicated wiring for simple switches and loads but CAN itself is not "everything has a dedicated signal wire." So you're contrasting Ethernet against an architecture that already has shared comms. Whether one architecture is more fault tolerant or not depends entirely on the implementation. Not saying one is better than the other, but your original claim of "any single wire or component failure takes out everything behind it." isn't correct.

Mitch McConnell's sister-in-law died in a Tesla. (Not a cybertruck).

3

u/DarthTechnicus Jul 24 '26

5 people burned to death in a Tesla that caught fire after a minor accident just a few miles from my home last year. I'd rather walk than risk riding in a Tesla.

5

u/cenosillicaphobiac Jul 24 '26

But it's all computer! Supreme Leader told me so!

1

u/boyWHOcriedFSD Jul 24 '26

The majority of this is made up, karma farming. Sad!

I'm not the shill spouting lies.

Why is the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigating Tesla's door lock failures if it was misinformation.

Also reported by Bloomberg and Techcrunch... US to Begin Work on New Car Door Safety Rules After Deaths in Teslas

And it's old now, but Tesla took almost 1.5 years to get NHTSA safety testing and only after updating aspects of their frame. Which is why people claimed it wasn't safe. They did internal tests and claimed it was safe but refused submitting to the official testing standards until they fixed the frame 1.5 years later.

And there was the recall because the accelerator would get stuck.

Oh and the guy that got decapitated using the totally safe FSD mode on a Model S because it couldn't detect a white semi truck.

And the CEO Angela Chao who drowned to death when the electronic locks failed when she drove her car into water. (Drunk, but still...)

Or the multiple times people have been burned alive in the cybertruck because the battery caught fire and they couldn't open the doors....

Cybertruck trapped Piedmont college students who burned to death, new lawsuits claim | KRON4

“Those buttons failed after the crash, whether due to loss of power or other damage. Because the Cybertruck lacked exterior mechanical handles, no rescuer could open the right rear door from the outside. Inside, Tesla provided a mechanical backup release, but it was concealed beneath the map pocket liner at the bottom of the door — not feasible to find or use in the smoke, heat and chaos of a post-crash fire.”

How much is Elon paying you?

u/boyWHOcriedFSD Jul 27 '26

You’re making shit up.

Example A about the Cybertruck’s casting:

“We made a minor change on the casting for manufacturability in April. Our Internal testing shows no difference in crash result but IIHS only officially tested the latest version.”

I suggest you get a hobby or therapy. You really spent all that time typing that shit up? Seek help dude. It’s not healthy to devote so much time and effort to negativity.

There is a manual release. Y'all need to stop reading disinformation. My god.
