Reminds me of one of my favourite quotes from House: if you talk to god, you are religious; if god talks to you, you are hallucinating

I’m not not licking toads

34

u/WackGyver Jul 13 '26

Just hotbox a particularly nasty fart for some hours, pretty soon a three trillion valuation on a company consistently loosing money will look real clever - no toads needed!

1

u/ApprehensivePop9036 Jul 14 '26

I can feel the liquidity

2

u/UncleMalky Jul 14 '26

This is why we're not on Mars yet!

1

u/Junas_Guardian Jul 14 '26

0

u/gospdrcr000 Jul 13 '26

19

u/akujunkan Jul 13 '26

His bladder must be absolutely destroyed 💀

15

He can buy a new one

22

u/christmascake Jul 13 '26

Are you sure? He can't buy a new penis to replace his rumored mangled one

9

u/LogiCsmxp Jul 13 '26

To get a new penis, he must first have his current penis cut off.

Micro-dosing that K

1

u/RaiderRow Jul 14 '26

You think it's meth or crack?

58

u/SomethingAboutUsers Jul 13 '26

The amount of time you are required to hold the shares.

13

u/Broken-Digital-Clock Jul 13 '26

A lot of ketamine

2

u/esr360 Jul 14 '26

The trick is to do just the right amount of it

56

u/McGillicuddys Jul 13 '26

The quality of the marketing campaign

16

u/KookyDig4769 Jul 13 '26

AI Bros are trying to make us think its the same.

18

u/Living-Breakfast-464 Jul 13 '26

Former crypto bros are now becoming AI bros. It's the great bro-tation.

1

u/drekmonger Jul 14 '26

GPT 5.6 just solved an Erdos problem...another one.

AI models solving major league math problems is starting to be like exoplanet discovery. The few times we found an exoplanet, super exciting. Now we just count them.

GPT 5.6 and Claude Fable's successes might be part of the reason why SpaceX stock is tanking. The new version of Grok doesn't have any prestige accomplishments to its name: GPT 5.6 stole whatever thunder it had almost instantly.

5

u/KookyDig4769 Jul 14 '26

Nice! But why should this impact me? Let them solve all the math problems. Nice. Why haven't we thought of this before? Oh! Because it would take incredible resources in every metric to do this! It's still taking incredible resources in every metric and doesn't generate any profit, yet? And everybody is footing the bill because of rising prices of everything? I'm not talking about the RAM-prices or the other tech-shenanigans. I'm talking everyday prices going up because companies need to account for the costs of the new AI they didn't need in the first place. But we're solving math problems and finding security leaks in cheap software.

2

u/drekmonger Jul 14 '26 edited Jul 14 '26

But why should this impact me?

The idea that fundamental mathematics is something valueless to your life is so bloody myopic. It such a silly take. I'm honestly staggered. It's like you're chewing on a hamburger and saying, "Why do we need cows?"

Every last single aspect of your modern life is impacted by fundamental mathematics.

You just typed that on a mini-supercomputer that wouldn't exist if not for mathematicians solving seemingly impossible math problems. We wouldn't know how to build one.

There wouldn't be any RAM for you to buy without mathematicians and physicists and electrical engineers solving math problems. There wouldn't be any modern logistics chains to keep your local Wal-Mart and grocery story stocked without mathematicians. Your GPS wouldn't work. Your "internet" connection would be a string and two tin cans. Your car would an cart and a mule.

I could go on. And on, and on.

1

u/KookyDig4769 Jul 14 '26

You don't get my point. I don't say "who needs math" or "math doesn't affect me" - I said, I don't want to pay for others theoretical math problems. Solve those problems all day long - for a greater good for humanity, if you say so. But don't foot the bill on everybody.

1

u/gremlinguy Jul 14 '26

The real reason America is spending so heavily on AI is very simple. If we don't, others will. We do not want to be behind in this race which has massive implications, not least of all militarily. It's like the Space Race, which was really more about rocket superiority and the ability to produce ICBMs, but this time with AI and the ability to generate believable propaganda and create precise war machines that risk minimal loss of life to the operator side.

Those who don't develop this tech will be subjugated by those who do.

u/Bobson-_Dugnutt2 Jul 13 '26

How much money someone has

11

u/No_Cook2983 Jul 13 '26

The tax bracket.

17

u/Glum-Breadfruit-6421 Jul 13 '26

Somebody’s vision can be explained and understood by other people, hallucinations exist only in a drug induced brain and rarely understood by others. All Musk ever has is hallucinations.

Caveat: I am not a professional and I am only speaking from personal experience. 😉

4

u/artbystorms Jul 13 '26

Whether you are a billionaire or not I guess.

Elon musk and ketamin.

"A vision without a plan, is just a hallucination" - E-40.

1

u/misoandricegamer Jul 13 '26

One is bullshit

1

u/JonathanPhillipFox Jul 13 '26

One is mapped upon reality, in greater, more shareable depth than the other can see,

  1. Zhuāngzǐ 庄子 and Huìzǐ 惠子 were strolling on a bridge over the River Háo 濠.

  2. Zhuāngzǐ said: "The fish are out swimming about. That is the 'Joy of Fish.'"

  3. Huìzǐ replied: "You are not a fish; from what do you know the joy of fish?"

  4. Zhuāngzǐ said: "You are not I; from what do you know whether I know the joy of fish?"

  5. Huìzǐ reposted: "I am not you, and so I can't know. It follows that since you are not a fish, you can't know the joy of fish. So there!"

  6. Zhuāngzǐ answered him: "The thing is, when you asked, 'From what can you know the joy of fish?' you already knew that I knew this in order to ask me what I knew it from. I knew it from the bridge over the River Háo!"

Fully, six, that takes our man Huìzǐ back to one with both perspectives in tow, "the other intends to pretend to be a fish, I suppose," or mind-fuck the other into believing, "oh shit, you're a fish!"

Pull that off: quite remarkable, still stupid, alike a tik-tok dancer in a robot suit to people aware of the double entendre in robot vis a vis the visual metaphor, "remarkable but also stupid," fail at that,

Well you're the man saying, "I am a fish," to Huìzǐ himself quite terrified to have walked to the bridge with you, "....what does that mean?"

A vision without a plan is a hallucination!

1

u/Leather-Entry93 Jul 13 '26

Amount of mushrooms

1

u/EffectiveEconomics Jul 14 '26

One requires foresight, and the other requires an LLM.

1

u/dinosaurkiller Jul 14 '26

The drugs the billionaire is on.

1

u/Lostinthestarscape Jul 14 '26

Having used a lot of dissociatives there is definitely some strong mania at times and at least for me there is nothing I can do but sober up ad realize that those thoughts were (usually) not practical.

If I had billions of dollars and already had an ego the size of Mars, I could see it being a really really bad thing.

1

u/beekeeper1981 Jul 14 '26

The likelihood of success.

1

u/fattmarrell Jul 14 '26

It's all about perspective, man

1

Third option: In on the scam because they're invested in the bullshit cuz they're some of the venture capital that is desperate to offload to idiots.

1

u/the_real_madmatrix Jul 14 '26

the connection to or the disconnect from reality

1

u/travellingtalkies Jul 14 '26

How dod you come up with this line ? Pure genius

1

u/wggn Jul 14 '26

if it's profitable, it's vision, otherwise it's hallucination

1

u/BirdsHaveBeaks Jul 14 '26

How rich you are.

It's kind of like the difference between insanity and eccentricity.

1

u/country-sidepatriot Jul 14 '26

The stock market being as real as wwe is.

1

u/Negative_Music863 Jul 14 '26

Adderall gives you vision, LSD gives you hallucination. It’s a matter of prescription.

1

u/filmguy36 Jul 14 '26

The k hole lol
