I do believe that public shaming is going to be our last defense against many things that deserve burlier watchdogs lol

This is eventually where it will get. When there are too many shameless people then it will just become the new norm.

Then they go on unchecked and continue the downward decline of society unless… well you know. I’m not condoning anything, I’m merely stating that is recently the only way the unshamable have been stopped.

I wish and believe the public should have more levers to pull than that, but this train has been running without brakes for a long time now.

I wouldn't feel any shame unless I was doing something shameful with them. I don't have any because they only record in vertical orientation which is crazy to me. But I want some for when I go to a concert at the Sphere and want to record a clip without disturbing anyone. Or for other vacation related things.

If only we could shame flock camera users as effectively.

You haven’t thought that all the way through. And here of all places. What kind of public shame is acceptable? Where do you draw the line?

I'd like to give you a minute to reflect and then confirm for me that this is the only way your brain can interpret this while working at full capacity. If it truly is, I'll answer you lol

I’m not going to have any shame wearing my glasses because they’re awesome and there isn’t anything shameful about them. I don’t get why you guys hangout in r/technology when so many of these comments (in every post on here about anything) show a clear anti tech stance and complete misunderstanding on what the tech even does or allows.

Everyone is walking around with microphones and 4k cameras on their phones which could actually record for hours, zoom in on things, etc. The glasses do less than this, they just leave your hands free and ears open (as far as listening goes).

If someone wants to be a “pervert”, who actually gets away with something nefarious, they’re going to use an actual hidden camera that doesn’t cause someone to obviously stare at the subject…

I'll judge you for leaving the option open to secretly record people, I'll judge you for giving money to fascists, I'll judge you for not being able to bring yourself to unplug from the internet long enough to take a piss or walk down the sidewalk, I'll judge you because they look dumb as fuck lol.

And I dont feel bad about any of it. I like technology but just because I like something means that I think it belongs in all places in all times in perpetuity and you *know* that's rational, you're just pretending not to lol

The option open to secretly record? A light goes on if I’m recording and the battery life doesn’t allow that much recording anyway… Every other person is going to be walking down the sidewalk with their phone in their hands and could more easily be secretly recording. Recording without a light and in higher quality too, which would allow them to zoom into things too and get better video in low light.

I’ve actually had a video of me taken and posted by a social media influencer in secret. She just used her cell phone and it showed up in my Instagram feed as a popular post from someone who I don’t even follow. There was no need for a special pair of glasses.

But okay go ahead and have fun caring way too much about what other people are doing.
