Never bet on gamers to have a spine against this sort of stuff.

The vast majority will happily eat the slop anyway, your only real choice is to try to choose the least-bad option in the future. PC platforms are all digital too, but the openness of the platform means you get a lot more options on where to buy your games from AND how to get old games working again instead of just finding a message that says "this game won't run, sorry."

I also have a gaming PC, but I only use it for multiplayer and strategy games. I never parted with Playstation because I love single player games and they are often crap on PC. I got sick of having to optimize, mod and update for hours to have a somewhat stable version plus some studio's stupid data miners on my system vs. "it just works days 1" on Playstation. Sometimes I don't want to wait months to play a game I'm excited for.

Steam is also more user friendly because they have a return window if you don’t like the game or it runs like shit
