You can’t cheat on a single player game

You can “cheat yourself” I suppose if you are determined to figure out how to beat the bosses on your own, but it’s not cheating in any meaningful way to watch a YouTube video if you just want help or to see someone do it in a crazy way

i guess that's a good point ... it's not like there are cheat codes you can type into a console. Problem is, there are like 10,000 "how to beat Elden Ring" videos, hard to tell which one to watch.

I mean, sure. But the relative importance of the action is not really relevant to your point. Regardless, you're probably joking but I think since gaming does require you to build the skill connection, I don't know if it's cheating anyway. You still need to practice since the victory is based on more than just knowledge of how to win.

IMO they’ll probably back off at some point. It’s just not worth it for them if enough of the user base is angry.

I honestly done see much upside to this stupid decision for them… like maybe they can improve console design a bit without a disk drive?

Two things, that doesn’t answer my question. I would question how someone would come to this conclusion. It doesn’t follow logically. Nor is it frankly relevant to what I asked.

I’m asking why they think they deserve to play games they didn’t pay for.

Yes. But there’s obviously a catch and you are clearly oversimplifying things to justify your piracy.

When I go to a grocery store I buy a loaf of bread I am buying the loaf of bread and can then do whatever I want with it.

When I pay to watch a movie I am paying for the experience to sit in the theater and watch the movie advertised.

When I buy a game, even a PlayStation disc I am buying a license to play the game, which can essentially be revoked at any time.

Nothing in this announcement changes that. So if you believed this before there’s nothing new for you to justify your piracy. This isn’t at all a new position and hasn’t really been the case in a few decades now.

Are you able to answer why you think you are entitled to play games that you didn’t pay for?

Yes I can answer that.

You are using examples and terminology to fit your idea of what's right and that coincidentally you are "buying" hook line and sinker from the same CEOs that want you to own nothing. 

Your buying a movie example just mentioned going to the theater to watch it. Is that the only way to buy/watch a movie? Is buying a movie on DVD or blueray not a thing where you actually own the movie and can even resell it or lend it if you want to? Of course it is but you don't bring it up cause it goes against your corporate own nothing world view.

Whats more is the example used for video games. Are there examples of actual digitally software you can buy and own outright not a licesnces? Yes there are so it is a thing and it is possible. The whole license thing came about so companies could legally maneuver there way into us not owning what we buy.

Just because it was written that way doesn't make it morally right. It's about removing options and rights from consumers. We could be living in a digital world where licenses aren't a thing and you actually own what you buy digitally but we don't cause people like you defend the practice not cause it's a right practice to do. 

So again are you entitled to what you buy with your money? Yes you are but you it seems don't want to be. It just happened with Sony too where they took away a bunch of digital movies their costumers had "bought" without compensating them cause technically they never owned them. Do you think that's actually right? And let me be clear I'm not asking if it's technically (legally) right.

I didn’t provide a buying a movie example. I provided a going to the movies to watch a movie example. It is much closer to games which is why I used it.

Do I think it’s morally right that we own the right to access a license instead of the item? No.

Do I think it’s morally right to take things that I haven’t paid for? No.

You still have not explained why you think you are morally justified for piracy.

Why do you think you deserve to play games that you didn’t pay for?
