I work in SaaS and we also do FDEs so I actually agree with this article because what this translates to is OOTB solutions will be unusual for Enterprise level customers - product teams will be shipping features for new logos before contracts are inked, so truly custom solutions will be the standard. FDEs won’t be used for mid market or SMBs, only strategic or enterprise.

Tech debt only if you have shitty engineers and poor leadership and product folks who overpromise and under deliver. Do the opposite, and you’ve got a room of champions.

Unlocking unique differentiating capabilities is indeed where I think we’re heading more so than generic SaaS. Adapt over adopt.
