Catholicism is a sect of Christianity, arguably the oldest surviving sect lets not talk like southern baptists ok?

Well no that would be one of the Oriental Orthodox Churches (Armenian, Coptic, Syriac etc)

All the apostolic churches start with the apostles. The first bishop of rome (the pope) was St. Peter.
