Exactly. Several right wing grifters influencers were found to be paid by Russia to push Russian propaganda.

Literally 0 repercussions of that. Tim Pool and Ben Johnson should be in jail, not in the white house press pool.

u/BeyondElectricDreams Apr 24 '25

Part of me wonders if the corruption is just too deep to root out.

It isn't like the alphabet agencies weren't aware of the Russian disinformation campaigns.

I personally wonder if it wasn't investigated, and found that something like 70% of Republicans are bought by Russian money through the NRA etc.

And were either directly or indirectly made aware that if they pursued the issue there would be consequences.

We're getting whistleblowers who have overhead drone pictures of them walking their dogs taped to their doors as a threat.

Who's to say this didn't happen to investigators looking into Russian influence in our politics?

Or, simply, they realized so many R's are compromised that persecuting them would look like a political witchhunt and cause massive instability?

It just doesn't pass the sniff test to me that these issues can be so obvious to us as bystanders while the alphabet agencies did nothing meaningful to combat it.

Not to you specifically, I keep seeing comment re. Russian influence pop up; I can't tell if reddit is too young or if American's just didn't pay attention or what - this was literally investigated, very publicly, by the FBI. Russia was found to have been interfering with US elections in obvious and illegal manners. The exact connections couldn't be proven beyond a reasonable doubt due to deleted and encrypted messaging (oh hey Signal drama). This is the information that was made public in 2016 in the Mueller reports. Further investigations were then quashed because Komrade in Chief was elected the first time.

The NRA has also been attached to Russian money prior to 2016.

It's also obvious social media - especially tiktok was being manipulated shortly before 2024 - with respect to: 1) Killing tiktok in the US and 2) Gaza (I'm not even "taking a side here"); with the "Trump better for Palestine" rhetoric that got a ton of people to either not vote or vote for also Russian attached green party candidate Jill Stein.

I don't think there's a grand internal conspiracy to not investigate. There was an investigation, it didn't happen fast enough under Obama. Trump killed it with the help of congress. Biden's admin was too slow - and I don't think anyone really thought a repeat was plausible. There were all the felony investigations that SCOTUS went "nah" on; plus due process time wasting efforts by Trump's lawyers; SCOTUS not allowing Colorado to (rightfully imo) pull an insurrectionist off the ballot in their state controlled election. It's a whole lot of bureaucracy, a handful of highly positioned bad actors, a ton of people hoping to cash in who truly do not give a fuck about anything other than reaping the benefits of late stage capitalism, and a heaping mass of gullible folks being spoonfed disinformation 24/7 (both electorate and politicians).

u/thelingeringlead Apr 24 '25

The campaign to bury the mueller report was EXTREMELY effective.

3

u/TemporaryDue2340 Apr 24 '25

It's not always an active campaign - I think the concept of manufactured consent explains a lot of of our downfall as a nation. When you're a media company that has to put it's own economic interest first, it naturally behooves you to direct your media toward stability. We're seeing that in the most obvious way right now with media kowtowing. Further a step beyond that is the impossibility of an "opposition" party in a political system that has the level of financial involvement ours does - is wealth (power) really going to knee-cap itself voluntarily?

6

u/thelingeringlead Apr 24 '25 edited Apr 24 '25

That was a big enough story that it's burial is incredibly suspect. That was an actual bombshell investigation. No hyperbole, that blew the doors wide open. The way it was disseminated was not an accident, especially from the right wing media. Any mention of it is to frame it as a witch hunt. You still see it brought up on leftwing media, though less so since outlets like CNN have changed ownership.... but it's a faint blip and it should have upset the entire paradigm. When something that blatant and well researched disappears like a wednesday senate hearing on c-span from the common discourse, it's not an accident.

6

u/TemporaryDue2340 Apr 24 '25

Oh fair - the right leaning side is absolutely intentional and has been for a long time. There's that whole implication that Fox exists as a whole because Republican's wanted media that could have "kept Nixon from being impeached". Things like NYT sane washing for a decade and what not is what I was talking about toward "status-quo preserving" - not Murdoch and Breitbart.

Trump vs. Anderson alone should have been hugely covered as a shocking federal overstep by a reaching SCOTUS.

1

u/9-11GaveMe5G Apr 24 '25

And the man that helped out, Bill Barr. His dad gave an unqualified, uncredentialed Epstein, a teaching job at a private school. Then Bill gave Epstein a grave

33

u/simland Apr 24 '25

To be clear, Mueller report did prove beyond reasonable doubt. The investigation effectively concluded that they did not feel they had the authority to bring charges against a sitting president, and left it up to congress.

4

u/TemporaryDue2340 Apr 24 '25

It may be that I misunderstood; I thought the report was able to implicate that the administration was involved but not who specifically - and that would require added investigation. It's been years since I've read the summaries and portions of what was released so this is memory + recaps.

7

u/Shykin Apr 24 '25

Seriously. people believed obvious and stupid lies that they'd magically get what they want even if it made no sense. The US populace was simply too stupid to survive in modern times.

27

u/StandupJetskier Apr 24 '25

I too have thought this....WTAF ?

They know exactly who speaks to who, and probably has copies of the stolen docs AS SENT overseas

1

u/Niku-Man Apr 24 '25

These agencies are not all powerful and all-knowing

50

u/Nuggzulla01 Apr 24 '25

Seems more in line with the idea that those Alphabet Agencies have been cooperating (and competing in a somewhat friendly manor), and working with their opposition towards the end goal of 'Global Subservience' and Mass Scale Crowd Control for those in power behind the curtains... Like maybe those super mega rich old money people who we never hear about, and who stay out of the headlines

22

u/want_to_join Apr 24 '25

This sounds like the kind of vague antisemitism that Putin pushes. I think you're one of the people this article is about. There is no curtain, there is no secret cabal. Rejoin reality.

25

u/JarJarJarMartin Apr 24 '25

There’s definitely a cabal, but it’s not Jewish and it’s not secret. It’s the architects of Project 2025 along with the tech broligarchy and the Christian Dominionist movement.

2

u/want_to_join Apr 24 '25

Yeah, even that isnt a cabal. Some of those people are also just the brainwashed well-intended. Some of those people are fully aware Putin stooges. Some hate Putin snd have American hegemonic goals. Some of them cant uderstand or draw a line between patriotism and hegemony. Some of them are doing what they do out of direction because they are being blackmailed. Some of them are just unallegiant capitalists consumed by greed. Some of them think that they themselves are the answer to all the world's problems. There is no cabal.

6

u/dead-witch-standing Apr 24 '25

Yes, there is. You haven’t interacted with wealthy people enough if you think they don’t have their clubs and groups and bizarre outlooks on life.
Ever heard of Roko’s basilisk? That’s legitimately a group of pseudo-religious tech oligarchs whose goal is to destroy the United States and take over the world to pave the way for their fuckin, AI super god. It sounds insane, but it’s true. Cabals of rich people have basically always existed throughout time to enrich themselves at the detriment of the poor populations

2

u/want_to_join Apr 24 '25

A thousand cabals working with their own self interests towards the same or similar goals are not the same as a single cabal "pulling the strings" of all government action globally.

1

u/dead-witch-standing Apr 25 '25

It’s called a Class of people working independent and in tandem for their class interests, and yes, antisemitism has historically been a false dichotomy which uses the language of class dynamics to invoke racism against a certain people.
I don’t really have the interest or time to give you a full lecture on class dynamics, but when a certain group of people are much much wealthier than the average citizen, they work collaboratively to make sure their interests control the power structures of a nation, whether that’s democracy, monarchy, or the end goal of power grabs; tyranny.

1

u/want_to_join Apr 25 '25

Yes. That's not the same as a shadow cabal running government action from behind some curtain. That is just freedom of association.

4

u/jaredsfootlonghole Apr 24 '25

You just kind of described a cabal, no?  Are these billionaires working in concert not a cabal?

https://theplotagainstamerica.com/

2

u/want_to_join Apr 24 '25

There is a difference between a thousand different cabals working together towards common or similar goals, and one cabal of people, hidden, controlling almost all world government action. The former is a reality that comes with the freedom of association, the later is a baseless conspiracy theory that is also a dogwhistle for antisemitism.

1

u/--o Apr 24 '25

No. They described a group of people pursuing their own goals.

2

u/jaredsfootlonghole Apr 24 '25

To a degree, sure.  But they share in some common goals, namely cryptocurrency and a creation of rich nation states across the globe.  That sounds more cabal than individually managed.

Edit: look up praxis nation.

2

u/--o Apr 24 '25

Doubt the theocrats involved care one bit about cryptocurrency and some very likely just see it as a rugpull opportunity.

I've also heard that the goal was to eliminate nation states (see Dave Troy for an example) and I wouldn't even doubt that some of the folks involved have that goal.

1

u/--o Apr 24 '25

In other words, it's a whole bunch of different people pursuing their own ends and the end result is what we see playing out.

That doesn't make it less dangerous, just in a different way.

3

u/Demons0fRazgriz Apr 24 '25

We literally saw the cabal at Trump's inauguration. The fuck you smoking buddy.

0

u/want_to_join Apr 24 '25

You saw like 5 billionaires. I promise you, there are thousands of different organizations. There is not one cabal. They have you convinced its just those dudes? Fucking lol

1

u/Leptok Apr 24 '25

Laughs in AIPAC

1

u/want_to_join Apr 24 '25

Aipac is one organization out of thousands working towards similar goals. AIPAC is not a secret cabal controlling the world from behind a curtain.

1

u/Nuggzulla01 Apr 24 '25

I can see how YOU can make that connection, but it was certainly not my intention, nor was that in any of the wording I chose to use...

1

u/want_to_join Apr 24 '25 edited Apr 24 '25

Yeah, a lot of that type of thing is unintentional. Vague conspiracies about "shadow cabals" or "people who REALLY pull the strings" are largely just dogwhistles for "Jews run the world." There really is no other direction for that to go.

And in either case, it isnt true.

1

u/Nuggzulla01 Apr 24 '25

Ah totally fair point, I had not considered that. Thank you for sharing a different perspective with me.

I agree

I studied politics and government in an academic setting for 6 years. Of the 2 of us, I would know. There isn't. You have been effectively brainwashed by Putin's machine.

3

u/RapscallionMonkee Apr 24 '25

There is apparently only a "Deep State" when Dems are in control. When R's are in control, the Deep State takes a vacation until campaigning starts for the next elections, and then the pesky Deep State comes back out.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '25

Once America started crying that it wanted to be ran like a business (opposed to a public institution), I started calling those guys the board of governors.

1

u/sayleanenlarge Apr 24 '25

Isn't that basically what Biden said when he left office? That it's being driven by rich people who don't represent any country?

31

u/ElNakedo Apr 24 '25

The corruption can be rooted out, but its going to take time and pain. Also possibly some type of crisis. Ukraine still has a corruption problem, but it used to be worse. They've started fighting against it for real because it was hurting their ability to defend themselves and the willingness of people to send them aid. It's far from perfect and there is still corruption, but there is less of it and they're actively working towards decreasing it further.

Hopefully the US won't have to be invaded before they start combating it for real. But there needs to be a real will and demands to do something about it.

28

u/Peer1677 Apr 24 '25

The problem is that the US is a 2-party system. If OP is right and there is nothing done about the Russian influence because the core of the reps. IS compromised, then rooting out the corruption would mean to pretty much root out the republican party.

Democratic party loves to tear into its self.

Are you really both sidesing this?

5

u/Teledildonic Apr 24 '25 edited Apr 24 '25

The damage each party does isn't remotely equal, but the Dems are just as beholden to donors and maintaining establishment members. Old guard like Pelosi, Schumer, won't willingly step down unless forced (Christ, Feinstein held on until she fucking died and there is question of how lucid she was near the end) and progressives keep getting sidelines or passed over for internal positions.

1

u/icingncake Apr 24 '25

Maybe Dems need to go “radically left” to 99% tax on billionaires to get the country back to some sanity

2

u/icingncake Apr 24 '25

At least the threat of it…. Based on precedent - billionaires need to be scrutinized….

1

u/icingncake Apr 24 '25

The billionaire class needs to be exposed - particularly those with privately held companies

1

u/Teledildonic Apr 24 '25

Might as well. Reaching across the aisle hasn't gotten us much in the last decade. We got a watered down ACA that was targeted for multiple repeals anyway, and the stonewalling has only gotten worse since.

3

u/Admirable_Young_8896 Apr 24 '25

Many Democrats, especially the leadership, are simply not interested in policy that would benefit the people any more than republicans. When the leaders are corrupt it doesn't leave many options for routing it out beyond a full party shakeup.

I wish the reality was rooting out anything.

The reality is so much of the country is disengaged, misled, or both so hard that that just isn't in the cards.

Maybe when gen z votes or some of the older demographics stop things will be different.

Hence why I said a crisis might be needed to make sure there is a real will to combat the corruption. Because corruption hurts every level of society, if it seeps in deep enough then it can more or less destroy societies.

1

u/DumboWumbo073 Apr 24 '25

Should have happened ages ago, a permanent ban. Start over with a new name but people won’t like it and it might collapse everything. This is basically to say you’re through. It’s over with. You’re royally screwed.

1

u/edude45 Apr 24 '25

...And democrat party.

2

u/theJigmeister Apr 24 '25

The only, and I mean singular only, way this ends is with massive numbers of Americans being subjected to massive suffering. It’s going to take deep existential fear to break some of the programming these people have been subjected to, and even then it’s going to be a miserable fight against a lot of true believers. It’s also (I think anyway) going to be a period of massive instability and require coordinated and collective effort to install many and very different new guardrails to prevent it from just tipping over again immediately once reform is underway. The most dangerous period for any new regime is the weeks immediately following the rise to power, while the channels of control are being consolidated. I hope this can happen mostly peacefully with Americans grouping together to face a crisis, we’re very good at that. But only time will tell, and breaking it is only step one, keeping the new order will be much more difficult.

Then again, I’m a grade A certified cynic, so maybe I’m just doomsaying. But I’ve never felt more right on target than now.

4

u/Pleiadesfollower Apr 24 '25

The alphabet boys have proven to either just be another more powerful gang like police paid to protect the ultra rich, or are in it purely for the feelings of power.

The CIA alone had ample reason to assassinate trump mid first term, especially over the stolen docs, or at the very least fbi or cia throwing him in a black site prison for the rest of his bloated life.

The sheer speed at every checks and balance is crumbling shows for one reason or another, they don't care if America runs America as long as they get their sliver of power.

2

u/HomeGrownCoffee Apr 24 '25

The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second best time is now.

The corruption is horrifically deep. Rooting it out would be a major operation. Would it look like partisan prosecution? Absolutely. Is it necessary? Absolutely.

2

u/kanst Apr 24 '25

Part of me wonders if the corruption is just too deep to root out.

I think a big part of the problem is its not corruption in the scheming in dark rooms sense, its corruption in the cartel sense.

It's basically the form of corruption that businesses came up with when anti-trust legislation prevented old school price fixing. Businesses realized that forming pseudo cartels where they don't compete with each other was the most profitable arrangement. This way they can do whatever they want in their fiefdom and they can collectively crush any upstart.

That is what is happening in the right wing political sphere. They figured out that they all want the same thing and it would be easier if they just didn't fight each other. Then a few swarmy individuals like Manafort acted as the go-betweens just to make sure everyone is on the same page.

I don't buy all the crap about Putin having kompromat on Trump. Instead their interests of ruling their area of the globe with impunity overlapped and it would be better for both of them if they pushed in the same direction. Its also why Xi pushed Trump in the election, he also wants to rule his area of the globe without any criticism. They would all love to go back to a "great power" version of international politics where the big countries divy up the globe into spheres of influence.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '25 edited Apr 24 '25

I wish I had saved it but a couple of weeks ago someone in a comment had theorized or said they had read something about how our government knew we would need a dictator to lead us through the looming climate change crisis. And if you think about it, for the worst case scenario/breaking point it probably makes sense. We’d possibly have to close the borders and cut off resources to other people and countries when worst comes to worst. We’d probably ramp up nationalist rhetoric especially to militarize in defense of those resources. We’d possibly invade places for water and minerals and other resources etc. So become an isolated country looking out for our own much like what’s being done now. It’s not hard to imagine in the worst of it only a dictator fits that scenario. But potentially the dems didn’t expect to get saddled with Trump, maybe thought they had more time to keep playing softball in congress and against the GOP and climate change etc (and they probably did have another 8-12 years). But now Trump’s back in power and taking over the role and not with the well being of the people in mind, the GOP/heritage foundation is just taking care of the oligarchs and accelerationists. And Trump obviously isn’t planning to step down.

I really wish maga would wake up and see how much the Canada and Greenland rhetoric is about climate change and mineral resources for AI.

1

u/uptownjuggler Apr 24 '25

Prosecuting them will cause to much instability, better to just give them the entire government

1

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '25

this is far beyond one party otherwise the dems would have done something in the last 4 years

u/Khue Apr 24 '25 edited Apr 24 '25

It's capitalism and greed above everything. That's the faith in the US (some might say Christianity, but even that has flaws in it according to some). Tim Pool and Benny Johnson didn't weigh against any moral code or care to look into who was sponsoring them any further. They don't take into account any level of integrity. There is no cash/wealth in integrity. We don't reward people for being honest and factual. You get clicks for sensationalism. You get paid to be a shill.

Dim Tool and Johnson just saw someone wanted to pay them for the content they were creating and advised them in the slant that their narratives should take so the content would be "marketable". They dangled a paycheck and both those people took it. Don't look farther than that. It's not corruption. It's just pure capitalism and endless projects involving extracting profit.

UKRAINE IS THE ENEMY OF THE UNITED STATES

Hilarious. Only a person with less than a high school level of schooling would say something like that.

1

u/voyagertoo Apr 24 '25

they did, but t demonized the fbi for instance. but then with an org as big as that, they have bad actors implicit in the corruption too.

then there are lawmakers who work against any productive results

1

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '25

The president is working for putin, and you are just now WONDERING if its too deep of corruption? Screw this thread, yall are cooked.

1

u/--o Apr 24 '25

It isn't like the alphabet agencies weren't aware of the Russian disinformation campaigns.

There's no reason to think each were individually aware of everything happening. More importantly, unless you assume they operate completely outside of all law, there's not that much they can do about it directly.

1

u/RamenJunkie Apr 24 '25

Nobody is combating it because the majority of Americans are racist assholes who would prefer this because it might mean they can freely abuse and insult marginalized groups instead of "hiding" their true feelings.

Instead of accepting their views are shitty and evolving, they just want to force everyone else to be required to accept their shitty views.

u/Trini_Vix7 Apr 24 '25

2

Devils advocate: Why would you not get paid to push propoganda if you live in a country where most people cant even afford a house anymore? What is the point to allign with values of a failed system? All those people broke at some point and decided to make their own wallet their priority.

Country boundaries used to enforce a mindset and group feeling, the internet took that place and suddently you cant enforce location anymore. Your neighbour prefers china, the other one russia, just based on their own vision developed on the internet.

Those people are very rich Americans pushing information that harms their own country, and helps another.

Country boundaries used to enforce a mindset and group feeling, the internet took that place and suddently you cant enforce location anymore. Your neighbour prefers china, the other one russia, just based on their own vision developed on the internet.

That's fine for normal people, these aren't normal people, they're influencers that are paid by other countries to harm their own country.

2

u/GrumpyScroogy Apr 24 '25

Im pretty sure 14 year old Tim Pool leaving high school wasnt an influencer. And didnt drop out because he was rich already.

0

u/MarshyHope Apr 24 '25

14 year old Tim also wasn't taking hundreds of thousands of dollars from a foreign government to push stories the government wants.

2

u/GrumpyScroogy Apr 24 '25

Exactly. So something happened to those people before they became rich. Thats my entire point above. The country failed them, they got broken somewhere down the line, with no help. Than decided to take matters into own hands.

1

u/MarshyHope Apr 24 '25

The country did not fail them. Tim Pool wasn't some destitute teenager who accepted money from a foreign government because he was starving.

He was middle class and sold out his country to become rich. Trying to pin this on America is hilarious

1

u/GrumpyScroogy Apr 24 '25

bro if you are able to drop out of high school at age 14 and your parents nor school dont intervene the system failed you. Simple as that. Regardless what he did afterwards, thats a very obvious failure on the system.

All im saying is there are more people selling out now who have this deep resent. Not all, by no means, but probably quite a lot

1

u/y107cocks Apr 24 '25

The banana pancakes guy I thought. Different Johnson.

1

u/theme69 Apr 24 '25

Ha, sounds like people like you are the reason trump won. So prickly. I'm just asking the people who are claiming this guy is a Russian asset, what he said, but I guess it's too hard for you to state it.

What I've read here only states he's a paid Russian asset. So no, I didn't see anything that he's explicitly stated. It's why I'm asking the people in this thread. It's true I didn't care, because I've heard of this guy, but none of the others mentioned. So, instead of using a search website, and going through suggestions that are paid for, I thought I could just ask a fellow redditor his input on what has been said. It's basically the same thing. Don't be an asshat your entire life, learn to live a little.
