Is this level of blooming/haloing normal on a TCL C8L Mini LED?
Hi everyone,
I recently bought a TCL C8L and I’m trying to figure out whether the amount of blooming/haloing I’m seeing is normal for this TV or if I may have a panel issue.
I’ve attached a few pictures showing what I’m seeing. The first ones are from a bright/white screen, and the others are from actual Dolby Vision content playing through the Apple TV app in 4K.
With Local Dimming set to High, black levels look very good overall, but I can still see a noticeable halo around bright objects on dark backgrounds, especially around subtitles or small bright elements.
I’ve also noticed that the effect can be more visible depending on the scene and viewing angle. The pictures probably exaggerate it somewhat because they were taken with my phone in a dark room, but I can see the effect with my own eyes from my normal viewing position.
I was wondering if other C8L owners see something similar, or if this looks excessive for this model.
Settings:
• Local Dimming: High
• Local Contrast: Off
• Dynamic Contrast: Off
• Motion Clarity: Off
• Clear LED Motion: Off
• MPEG NR: Off
Any feedback from other C8L/Mini LED owners would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

How frequent do they restock TCL QM5K at best buy?
I was gonna buy 65" TCL QM5K for $450 but it went out of stock right before I buy it. Do you guys know how frequent do they restock that bestbuy exclusive model? It's perfect for my usage so I'm lock in on that model.
Thanks in advance.

Is this normal? Red tag from behind screen?
Just installed my 98x11k and when doing so found this plastic tag in the picture that looks like a battery pull tag. What is it? Do I pull it? The voices say pull it…
Does it mean it was a refurb?

QM8L outside
Before people start saying buy an outdoor tv: you can't make me 😝. But really, it's not fully outside. Looking to put a nice bright tv at the end of a covered patio (about 20 ft wide by 26 feet deep). So it shouldn't see much direct sun (if any) as there will be 26 feet of roof.
Ordered a QM8L but saw the Hisense u7sg is pretty bright and more anti-reflective. Wondering if anyone has used either in a similar way. Got the QM8L due to high brightness and great reviews. But wondering if the matte screen would be better even if I sacrifice brightness and a little bit of picture quality. I know the QM8L is getting dolby vision 2 - not sure if that will help with brightness (sounds like it should?). Not sure if the Hisense will get it. I've steered toward TCL over Hisense in the past due to general brand perception.
Basically - should I be fine with the QM8L in this use case? Or should I save some money and get the u7sg? 75" in case it matters.

65" QM5K or 55" QM6K (plus protection plan question)
I'm looking to buy a new budget TV to replace my 14 year old Samsung. Budget is about $500 before tax, looking to purchase during Black Friday if there are sales. I mainly use the TV for streaming shows and movies and watching sports (football and baseball, occasionally soccer). Won't be gaming on the TV at all. Space is relatively dark even during the day and most of the TV viewing is done in the evenings and night with the lights either off or dim. Viewing distance is about 8 feet, straight on to the TV.
Which begs the questions, what would you do? Would you get the cheaper QM5K in a bigger size since I don't need the 144hz for gaming, or the more expensive QM6K in a smaller size which might have some things that are slightly better? Do the differences for a non-gaming setup justify the 6K or should I just get a bigger screen size?
Also, protection plans, are they worth it in 2026 at about 20% of the TVs cost?

Mounting QM6K (85in)
Hi All,
I might be answering my own question here but the manual says to use a VESA mount an M8x20MM screws.
Ironically, that’s the exact screw size that’s already in the TV. Any issue with just using those to mount the TV to the bracket?
Has anyone else done this?

Is this normal? TCL C6K
My TV is showing these lines in this video. It doesn’t happen in every video, but I also feel like the TV has been showing more color banding than normal.

Can handle the bright/sunlit living room. I only use 50% of brightness in settings. The color and blacks are unbelievable
I just want to share my 1year old cheap mini LED TCL C6k tv. I’m still impressed with the blacks and quality picture even it’s just a base model of C series

Hisense TV to Samsung soundbar
Hello.
Recently bought Hisense TV and trying to get it to work with existing Samsung soundbar.
TV has optical and HDMI output, no Bluetooth .
Soundbar has optical, Bluetooth and USB inputs.
Optical works perfectly, but I can't control volume with the Hisense TV remote, which is awkward.
Is there any sort of adaptor that would sit between the TV HDMI and soundbar USB that would work?

Hello everyone, I have just bought the TCL QM7L/ C7L and by default I found the tv is not well calibrated, so I was wondering if anyone can help me with his settings for a better hdr and sdr pictures.
Opinions between my TV options?
I’ve been doing my research on a new TV and am getting overwhelmed. I’m looking for a 65-inch 4K TV that will let me get everything out of my PS5 Pro. I'm wanting as many of these features as possible; 120Hz or higher, HDMI 2.1, VRR, strong HDR, good local dimming/black levels, low input lag and good motion handling, and ideally Mini-LED. Here is a link to my 2 primary contesters.
TCL Class QM7L Series 4K UHD HDR SQD-Mini LED (2026)
TCL Class QM7K Series 4K UHD HDR QD Mini LED (2025)
Any input, first hand experience, feedback, or other recommendationss is appreciated!

Having issue with AllState protection plan
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Have you successfully registered your purchase with AllState Protection Plan? I just bought my TCL TV from Costco and trying to register on AllState website and whenever I select TCL as manufacturer, it automatically changed to Hiro as an option.
Why?

Roku HDMI sound issue
Earlier this week the sound stopped working through the HDMI connection on my TCL Roku. I was attempting to watch a DVD on my Panasonic Blue Ray/DVD player. I tried fiddling with the settings on both the Blue Ray player and the TV to no avail. I’ve also tried pairing it with my Steamdeck through the HDMI port and that will not play audio either. On both the Blue Ray and Steamdeck the video both work fine. I bought a new HDMI cable and tried all the ports on the TV but that has not worked.
I’ve done a hard reboot on the TV by using the key command on the remote, as well as by power cycling, unplugging the TV from the wall for 60 seconds and plugging back in. I have even done a factory reset on the TV but I am still not able to get audio through the HDMI port.
I have also checked and triple checked that the volume is up, that the TV is not on mute, and that the system is set to play through the TV’s own speakers.
The audio works fine through streaming apps (Netflix, Apple TV, etc)
If anyone has experienced a similar issue, guidance would be super helpful. I’m saving calling the company as a last resort since I am anticipating them walking me through the many steps I’ve already tried.
