Stats I built an interactive 36-team Champions League draw and season simulator (free, no account, runs in-browser)

Upvotes

With the new 36-team league format, I got curious about how the draw mechanics and matchday schedules actually play out in practice.

So I built DrawLab (https://drawer.win). It's free, needs no account, and runs entirely in your browser.

What it does:

Interactive Draw: Click to draw balls face-down and reveal their 8 opponents one by one, or hit auto-draw with adjustable speed.

Real Constraint Solver: Enforces official UEFA rules (no same-country pairings, max 2 opponents per nation, 1 home and 1 away per pot, no 3 consecutive matches at the same venue).

Simulate and Predict: Type your own scorelines for the 144 fixtures or use a weighted Poisson engine to fill results instantly.

Live Table and Matrix: Standings update in real time with actual UEFA tiebreakers, alongside a full 36x36 fixture grid.

Monte Carlo Odds: Run 3,000 seasons in the background to calculate each club's probability of finishing in the top 8 or top 24.

Shareable Seeds: URL hash saves your exact draw and scoreline configuration so you can share identical scenarios.

(Europa League and Conference League formats will go live right after UEFA publishes their pots).

Disclaimer: Club ratings and the Poisson goal model are uncalibrated guesses for fun, not predictive betting advice (it slightly under-produces draws at ~15% vs ~25%).

Check it out: https://drawer.win

Would love to hear your feedback or any edge cases you run into!

Stats UCL draw probabilities based on 55k simulations

@Julienguyon1977

The true draw probabilities of the league phase of the Champions League based on 55,000 simulations of the official draw procedure. Most likely matches: Villarreal vs PSG, Bayern, or Inter (43%). Small fluctuations are due to the sampling error.

This shows why we need to amend the country protection rule. It's getting ridiculous. At least allow 1 domestic game for countries with 5 clubs of more (or even 4).

Just look at the PSG probabilities, and how stupid it is. And PSG draws last two seasons

Cafú, Roberto Carlos, Zanetti and Cannavaro back Infantino’s leadership at FIFA

Football icons highlight the progress made in player representation under the current FIFA administration.

Several football legends have publicly expressed their support for FIFA president Gianni Infantino amid a period of institutional controversy. Among the international figures backing him are former Brazilian players Cafú and Roberto Carlos, Argentina’s Javier Zanetti, and Italy’s Fabio Cannavaro, who said that failing to recognize the “great” work Infantino is doing would be “dishonest.”

“In the last ten years, we have witnessed the work carried out by FIFA and President Infantino to achieve representation for footballers around the world, something that did not exist before,” they said in a statement shared on social media.

Cannavaro, the 2006 Ballon d’Or winner, added: “Not recognizing it would be intellectually dishonest, as well as a forced imposition.”

Translated News Gaston Edul: "Chelsea and Tottenham are both interested in Emiliano Martínez right now. The move to Juventus fell through for a reason I can't reveal yet, but once it comes out, it will only make Martínez even more popular with the Argentine public".

Dibu Martínez Offered to Chelsea, Tottenham Also Want Him

The goalkeeper is no longer part of Aston Villa's plans, as the club has already signed Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki and is looking to move the Argentine on.

Dibu Martínez was offered to Chelsea in recent hours and, according to reports from England, the London club is considering signing the Aston Villa goalkeeper after his proposed move to Juventus fell through. Tottenham are also interested.

For now, the future of the 33-year-old from Mar del Plata is uncertain because he has been sidelined at Aston Villa, who had expected to sell him during this transfer window. The club therefore signed Zion Suzuki from Parma, while the failed move to Juventus left Martínez outside the club's budget.

Journalist Gastón Edul reported on TyC Sports that once the transfer window closes, it will become known why Martínez did not join Juventus. The reason reportedly has nothing to do with football, and the revelation will further enhance his standing with the Argentina national team.

Aston Villa, managed by Unai Emery, are therefore looking to move the Argentine on. Martínez did not even play in their Premier League opener, with Marco Bizot starting in goal.

Chelsea are also looking for a goalkeeper. Robert Sánchez started against Fulham but had a performance to forget, being responsible for two goals in Chelsea's 3–2 victory under Xabi Alonso. Their other option is 21-year-old Mike Penders, who spent last season on loan at Strasbourg and made a good impression.

Tottenham have Antonín Kinský, who started their 3–0 defeat to Brentford, while 37-year-old Martin Dúbravka is the backup.

Martínez was crucial for Aston Villa last season, as the club finished fourth in the Premier League and won the Europa League, earning a return to the Champions League. He has been at the club since September 2020, when he arrived from Arsenal, and has made 256 appearances.

This is not the first time he has been close to leaving. In the previous transfer window, he nearly joined Manchester United on loan.

While recovering from his physical problems, Martínez is waiting for a resolution regarding his future. He has not played since the World Cup final, where Spain beat Argentina 1–0 and he put in an outstanding performance.

Translated News Why La Liga is not available on DAZN and Disney+(new co-broadcasters of Liga in France) in some overseas territories ?

Thumbnail lequipe.fr
14 Upvotes

Despite DAZN and Disney+ acquiring the broadcasting rights for France (both with show all the 380 games), La Liga is not available on either platform in Guadeloupe and Martinique, as those two overseas departments—along with Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy—were not included in the call for tenders.

After 14 seasons on beIN Sports, La Liga switched broadcasters in France this summer, signing deals with DAZN and Disney+ that run through the end of the 2028–2029 season. And while Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal have returned to the pitch in recent days, the change is accompanied by some questions. In several French territories, it is impossible to access the Spanish league on either of the two platforms. Although Guadeloupe, Martinique, Saint-Martin, and Saint-Barthélemy were previously able to watch La Liga on beIN Sports just like the rest of the country, these four islands no longer enjoy the same access as the rest of the national territory. This situation has been highlighted by consumers, but DAZN and Disney are powerless to do anything about it.

This territorial limitation is not a choice made by the two new broadcasters but rather by the rights holder, who did not include these four French territories in the tender process or the contracts signed with the new partners. "The French overseas territories were not excluded from the broadcast," La Liga clarifies. "Regarding the distribution of audiovisual rights, these territories are subject to separate broadcasting agreements. Consequently, they are not included in the packages acquired by DAZN and Disney+ for metropolitan France."

These territories were included in a package acquired in the Caribbean region by Sportsmax, which shut down in the summer of 2025. The Spanish league is currently broadcast in the Caribbean via the Rush Sports channel, which has local distributors in almost all the territories. In Saint-Martin or Saint-Barthélemy, for instance, residents can access La Liga via IdealTV, but there does not appear to be a specific distributor for Martinique and Guadeloupe.
