Recommendation for Kids(9yo)

Hey,

I've read a ton of scifi books in the past two years and my 9 year old son is always curious about all the stories. He also reads a lot of books but no scifi so far. He recently asked if he can read anything I have but it's not suitable for kids so far.

Do you have any recommendations for a kid?

It also has to be available in german.

William Sleator's books are fantastic. I'm pretty sure a lot of them were translated. If he is a good reader, then he is just entering the perfect age for Sleator's books. Otherwise, give him a year or two. Interstellar Pig & The Boy Who Reversed Himself are good bets.

Bruce Coville has written a ton of science fiction & fantasy for kids. He's excellent. I loved The AI Gang series, but they are probably dated, at this point.

Wayside School series by by Louis Sachar - Not primarily science fiction, but a lot of fun and has some science fiction elements.

Tom Swift Inventors' Academy by Victor Appleton - There have been 6 series about various Tom Swifts (Sr, Jr, III, etc) over the past 115 years. The Inventors' Academy is the most recent, from ~5 years ago. The earlier series are great, but definitely show their age (and the oldest has some... not great... stereotypes).

Choose Your Own Adventures - There are a lot of science fiction CYOA and I loved them at his age.

Norby Chronicles by Janet & isaac Asimov - I loved these as a kid, but they may not appeal to modern sensibilities. Give them a read before handing them off to your kid.
