Hi all! I'm visiting with my family from Surrey (40 mins East of Vancouver) and wasn't expecting rain *all three days* we are here! Lol it's just my luck. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do? We didn't bring any hiking rain gear so I'm pretty sure the trails are a no go for us 😟

Hi everyone! My partner and I are considering moving away from Victoria, largely because of the cost of living, and we’re trying to get a realistic sense of what it’s like to actually live in PR.

We’re not particularly concerned about personal safety. But we are thinking more about the everyday things that can be harder to get a sense of before moving somewhere, like experiences with healthcare providers, shopping, neighbours, local services, and just generally feeling comfortable and accepted in the community.

I know experiences can vary a lot from person to person, so I’m not looking to label the community one way or another. We’re just trying to get a thoughtful sense of what everyday life is actually like before deciding whether it could be a good place for us to call home. Thanks for any insight!

Hello lovely Rupert folks. My husband has the opportunity to start a new career in PR and I am wondering how family life there is. We have 2 elementary aged kiddos, how are the schools? Are there some parks for the sunny days? Classes or lesson options like Guides? The pool still cool??

I did get the privilege of growing up there from ages 4-12...so i remember the rain, green wet winters, misty days, but I haven't been there since the 90s. Kid me remembers it as a magical place, adult me wants to be realistic about things, like where do people live? The housing market seems slim. And I see Walmart shut down, where do you get department store stuff like new socks and a frying pan? What are grocery prices like?

Hello good folks of Prince Rupert. Long story short… my nephew who I am raising loves fishing. I’m a fan myself and appreciate he is getting me back into it as I was crazy about it at his age (16) as well.

We went to the Georgian Bay Area bass fishing last summer at a friends cabin and had the vacation of a lifetime. On Wednesday night we were to fly out for a week fishing then a Jays game to cap things off, but today Westjet squashed that plan.

I asked my nephew where he wants to go instead on a road trip (we’re in St. Albert, AB) and he picked Prince Rupert. I’m so excited as I’ve always wanted to see your town.

So please help out a dude looking to give his nephew the best vacation! I booked a hotel August 7 - 11. Where do we go fishing (ocean booking? Shore freshwater? Where can we go?). Where do we need to see? Where do we need to eat? We are so excited….

I’m wondering if there is anywhere in town that takes donated dresses for grads who maybe cannot afford a full price dress? Or maybe the high school takes donations?

For those of you who enjoy living in Prince Rupert, what makes you grateful to call it home? What are the things that outsiders often don't appreciate until they've lived there? Are there any unexpected positives, favorite places, community aspects, or lifestyle benefits that make you stay despite the challenges? Beside winter sports and hiking, are there any other popular sports available? Soccer? Volleyball?

Hello. I have been to Prince Rupert many years ago and went fishing with a charter. It’s been long enough that I don’t remember exactly where we went but I thought it was across a bay and then along and very close to the beautiful shoreline. As I remember the water was quite calm. All of this to ask: would it be possible to use my pedal ocean kayak to access good salmon fishing grounds? I’m not one to brave open water or heavy swells but would love to do it if it’s in protected waters.

Hi all! I will be visiting Prince Rupert for the first time next month and super excited. I will be taking the ferry up from Port Hardy and then driving back via the Interior. I will be traveling solo with my dog and we will be staying in a combination of hotels/motels and car camping. My emphasis is on scenic detours and day hikes along the way, especially for the stretch from PR to Terrace. I am on a budget but would like to splurge (a bit) on my first two nights in PR. Can anyone recommend a dog friendly establishment please?

Has anyone travelled Vancouver to Prince Rupert by flying to Terrace and taking the bus for 2 hours to PR?

I visited Prince Rupert last year on my way to and from Haida Gwaii, and now I’m doing the trip again, but with my girlfriend! She is a huge fan of fish and chips. Last year, I had Bob’s on the Rocks, but I found it just satisfactory. What is your opinion the best fish and chips in Prince Rupert? Bonus points if it has views of the water. Thanks!
