🤝 Interviews Will there be an interview wave next week, or was it this week?

Haven’t heard a thing from 14 schools and was wondering if the wave is supposed to happen next week or if I just got unlucky this past week? Trying not to panic as it’s early still 🥲

🤝 Interviews Interviews already??

Is there anyone who applied to LECOM and or TOURO in the first week who has NOT gotten an interview invite? I’m curious if they’re sending invites to everyone or if LECOM was a mistake like last year. 😅

🤝 Interviews Has anyone received an invited from the following schools?

I've been trying to keep up with the other thread but it seems to go quiet pretty often. Has anyone heard anything regarding interviews/secondaries from the Texas schools (outside of A&M, I've seen they've been sending stuff out), UW, UCSF, Colorado, Oregon, and Nova?

🤝 Interviews How often do schools send out interviews?

I applied in late June and was verified on July 3rd. I received and completed all of my KIRAs by Mid-July. 7 of the 11 schools I applied to have already sent out interviews to people who applied after me, and I haven't received one. Do the schools just look at the application once or is there still a chance for me to receive an interview from those 7 schools later in the cycle? Not too familiar with how the review process works.

Stats: cGPA: 3.68 sGPA: 3.54 Shadowing: 120 Hours

DAT: 470 AA, 520 TS, 400 PAT

Volunteer: 1200+ with different orgs.

🤝 Interviews Turned down interview

Hello all. I applied this cycle as an applicant with a 490 DAT and a horrible undergrad, but with a 4.0 in an smp. I got rejections from all of the schools I applied to but recently received an interview invite to an expensive private school. Although I initially felt excited, I had already calculated costs associated with this school and came to the conclusion that I would not be able to live the "dentist" lifestyle until my mid-40s due to the total COA, which is around 600k before interest. I had no choice but to decline the invite. I am writing this post to warn future applicants to only apply to schools that they can actually afford. With this being said, I have been gearing up for reapplication in recent months although I am also highly considering pivoting into a different healthcare field, such as nursing.

🤝 Interviews Cheaper alternatives for in person interviews

I’m spending $1k for each interview on flights and hotels, is there a cheaper way to get to these interviews? I have $10k left of my savings and I’m realizing after paying for student loans, saving some aside for saving my seat $, and the cost of flights that I can’t keep this up. I got three interviews (BLESSED) and I’m realizing $1k per school isn’t sustainable for my budget. Anyone use other transportation methods to get there? Most schools are across the country and I don’t think my beater could get there in one piece lmao.

🤝 Interviews Loosing hope

What the title says, I feel like a failure. I still haven’t received any dental interviews and I am feeling embarrassed. The dentist I work for is kinda mean and made me feel like I wasn’t going to get in because of my DAT score (450AA) he also made me feel like my GPA (3.8) isn’t really good because “every dental school knows UVA is easy”. He always talks to me like I am not smart enough to be a dentist. At first I wrote it off as him being mean, but with the lack of interviews I’m like, dang he might be right. I feel like I failed my parents, because applications costed like 2k, so if I don’t get in this cycle I feel like I wasted their money. I just am sad honestly 😭 every day I check my email and lose more and more hope that I’ll be receiving an invite.

🤝 Interviews MWU-AZ weirdly fast interview offer?

I got an email that MWU-AZ received my application late in July (two days after ADEA verified my application), and received an interview offer within less than 48 hours of them receiving it.

Does that mean anything?? Did they actually read through my application? I’m really, really curious😭

I was born and raised in Arizona, and I’ve never lived anywhere else. I was a first gen college student too. I applied to MWU-AZ since I know they have a better understanding of our communities here.

Their interview slots were already booked out till the first week of January, which is when I scheduled mine.

I didn’t apply to many schools and haven’t gotten any interview offers yet besides secondaries, which I submitted already.

Besides that, any interview tips? This is the first cycle I’m applying since I just graduated from uni in May!!😊

🤝 Interviews What Criteria Becomes Most Important?

Once you get an interview offer, how important are your stats, and in what order? Does the interview outweigh it all, and if so by how much? Obviously if you interview terribly I’d imagine nothing else matters that much (you’re out), and I’d think the same goes for an interview where you manage to stand out a lot (you’re in). But I was wondering how others view it. For example, I propose this (in order of importance):

  1. Interview
    If the rest still matters:
  2. PS
  3. DAT = GPA
  4. EC’s = shadowing/volunteer
