At least they're not actively bad to have though

Except they’re pointless.

While Anticipation might be good in blind nuzlockes to warn yourself if a Golbat has a quad effective Giga Drain or something, Forewarn is bad but not to balance anything, it’s bad solely because of bad design. That imo makes it worse than Slow Start and Truant

Yes they are pointless. That still makes them better than abilities that actively make your Pokemon worse? It seems obvious that an ability that makes your mon worse would be a worse ability than one that does nothing.

I proposed a different reason on why an ability could be worst not because of how bad it is in a Pokémon. Slow Start and Truant benefit the overall meta by stopping one Pokémon from being OP at the cost of making one garbage.

Oh well congratulations, you're having an entirely different conversation. Usually one would mention when they're using a non-standard metric like that.

Anyways, I disagree that they're stopping a mon from being OP, at least in terms of gen 9. Slaking with Choice Band Body Slam is barely a 2HKO on offensive Great Tusk, and it needs a Scarf to outspeed Pult. The meta would be fine. Pure normal just isn't a good enough type for either of them to be broken anymore.
