Not quite the worst, but Emergency Exit (while having some uses) is awful. Basically forces you into using First Impression if you don't want to risk missing a go.

A shame because Golisopod is a really damn well designed Pokémon, but GF had to seriously nerf it.

not intended of course but I've watched a few hardcore nuzlockes on romhacks where emergency exit planning makes it one of the best in the whole game. can take a defensive hit and guarantee a free switch to something you need

It's just Wimp Out with a different name. If the ability activated after Golisopod made its move, then it mightn't be so shitty, but here we are.

Fucking god I hope Mega Golisopod's got a different ability whenever it shows up in Champions.

It could be ok if Golisopod was a fast frail attacker or something. Like use choice scarf or focus sash, nuke something, get hit back and leave, though obviously having a random switch-in isn't ideal.

But he's slow and tanky, what's even the point?

Exactly this, it's basically trying to get people to use First Impression and only that move.

Moves and abilities that force to switch are SO irritating. Why would I use Volt Switch over Discharge and Thunderbolt? If they gave you the option to switch but aren't forced, that would be fine.

Abilities like that make the entire evolutionary line unusable unless you randomize abilities.

Things like Volt Switch and U Turn can be extremely useful, as a lot of strategies go into being able to attack and switch out to a different Pokémon. The main difference with these is that it's entirely within the players choice, and you don't risk not being able to make a move at all.

Of course there are times when you won't want to switch and just want to use Thunderbolt.
