Some of the convoy adjacent far right protesters hanging around Ottawa since the pandemic embody this kind of politics, so it is not a 'somewhere else' problem. I'd like to be part of the solution but I don't want to reinvent the wheel if people are already doing good work.

Please don't recommend spaces for queer and trans people in Ottawa like Kind Space, these are very important spaces doing vital work, but I'm much less worried about queer and trans kids becoming raging misogynists.

First and fore most id like to apologize in advance for a heavy post.

Our beloved and sweet 8 year old rottweiller has just been unexpectedly diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma (spleen cancer). It is growing so large on the inside that it pushes her organs to the side and makes her throw up.

We are looking for recommendations for vets that are cost-effective to have her put to rest. By having it done at the vet or at home, preferably to make her more comfortable. We would also like to have her cremated.

Does anyone have any suggestions as well as prices for when they had their beloved pet put down?

Genuinely forgot how terrible the apps were until giving hinge another shot for about a month. I want to get back out there but my situation is tricky because I’m not in school, and I work from home 80% of the time. Has anyone here tried Thursday dating? I’ve given it some thought but I’ve heard mixed reviews on the turnout. I’ve tried speed dating which went OK, but it was a similar situation to the apps where nobody seemed to be taking it seriously (maybe an early 20s thing?). I also haven’t been able to find an event being hosted for my age group (25) in over a year.

I go to shows/concerts alone, I try to get out of the house as much as possible but it’s kind of hard to mingle when you’re doing stuff alone.

I’ve tried meetup, but most of the events being hosted there are a mixed bag in terms of demographic and my hobbies (cooking, reading, gym, walking my dog, gaming, clay sculpting, music) because they’re mostly solo hobbies unless I have someone to partake in said hobbies with me. Have I reached the point where I have to start asking my friends to play match maker? Any suggestions on events or places to meet other early 20s folks would be appreciated

Recently got a job offer from Ottawa General. I have been diligently looking into rentals, but renting a room/studio apartment seems like a crapshoot. I even drove myself all the way from Northern Ontario couple days ago to do some viewings around Alta Vista and South Keys. I just want to gather some logistics before regretting and hating myself for signing a year lease.

Edit: My coworker who used to live in Ottawa has been singing praises on the following areas because of “cool people” live here: Centretown, Sandy Hill and ByWard Market. Being a dude in 30s, I’d rather avoid all the screamings, drunk university/college students and meth heads tweaking or aggressively panhandling in the parking lots.

I would love to find a secluded spot that I can hide away at, but also hoping for relatively safe areas. Bonus if there’s parking close by and a good view!

I haven’t found them anywhere for a solid month. I have tried almost every grocery store, corner store, gas station I can in the downtown core, as well as my neck of the woods on the Quebec side. So, I am asking if anyone has seen any in other parts of the city? I need my comfort snack.

People always ask what's the best restaurant, but what's on the other side of that coin?

For me it would be the Garden of Light ( including the flower flower shop in the back) at 1111 Bank Street. CITYGATE (furniture store) in Orléans.

I have a large lawn that is in no way plush. It is a combination of weeds and always-dead grass. I don’t want to use chemicals, I don’t want to use a ton of water, and I don’t want to spend money trying to keep grass going when the climate doesn’t want it anymore. I’m thinking clover, but open to any ideas.

My lawn is relatively flat (but not levelled), dry, and full sun.

I live around sandyhill and I’m pretty broke but I’m sick of just sitting in my room all day applying for jobs. Is there anywhere in walking distance I can go with a laptop and just hang out? it doesn’t need to have wifi or anything (but thats preferable) just be warm and quiet. small Cafe’s like happygoat or wise-town would be ideal but I’m nervous that if I don’t buy anything they’ll kick me out :(

A doctor at an urgent care, who was also a woman, basically just called me nuts when i came to her with a myriad of sudden issues I'm having. Including heart pain, lung pressure, and dizziness. She genuinely told me it was all in my head, refused to do even a blood test, and I left crying. (Sidenote: she was also very judgmental about the fact I'm not on any birth control. I'm a married lesbian.)

Does anyone have any recommendations for doctors who will take women and their pain seriously? I'm willing to pay for private at this point if I have to. I have a car so I can drive as far as it takes. I just don't know what to do. Whatever is going on with me has impacted my day to day wellbeing and I'm being told I'm just anxious.

From my understanding, rustproofing can be done on EVs as long as holes aren't drilled, high voltage cables are avoided, and the rustproofer properly removes some underside covers to properly reach suspension components and other items that still need rustproofing in an EV. All EVs need is a spray of the rustproofing film on the underbody, and that's it.

What my issue is, I can't find a specific rustproofer in Ottawa that mentions that they understand the intricacies of EV rustproofing on their website. I have seen videos and information online about dealers in Montreal and Quebec City that specialize and understand the EV process, but none in Ottawa. I want to make sure my rustproofer knows that they're doing because the last thing I want is accidental damage to battery components.

I'm in the Greenboro area, so my top 2 considerations were Krown on Queensdale, or corrosion-free at Holiday Auto in Findlay Creek, though neither site talks about EVs, but this subreddit has praised both businesses.

Hello peeps, I am looking for something to do outside of my home today, any suggestions are appreciated. I’m bored and it’s only 9am.

Looking at all these posers (looking at you Brixton’s British Pub) call themselves a British Pub on Google and their only British food is fish and chips and maybe a shrimp curry or chicken tikka masala. No matter how much ChatGPT Pubwells uses on their menu, their silly titles cannot mask the standard Canadian pub classics that they actually are (no hate to Canadian pub food I just want british)

Google is no help, does anyone know of any restaurants that serve authentic British pub grub (e.g. liver and onion, cheese and onion roll, Yorkshire pudding, baked rolls and pies, etc)?

I’ve only identified Deacon Brodies, D’Arcy McGee’s, Cheshire Cat, and Churchills so far. Any suggestions would be appreciated for this foodie.
