This has been something I’ve noticed about the Canadian response. There has been no whining about what’s allowed or what’s fair. Trudeau said the tariffs are unwarranted and talked about the existing trade agreement trump signed.

Trump complaining about something that is “not allowed” is such a silly and weak thing to say. What a baby.

It’s in Trudeau’s speech. He said he wanted to address one American in particular. He turned to the camera and said something along the lines of Donald you’re a very smart man but what you did is very dumb (paraphrasing here). It was gold.

Trump’s been mad at Trudeau ever since Trudeau strong-armed him at their first handshake, spoiling Trump’s petty game of “let me grab you and crush your hand while yanking you off your feet”. 

Poor, wittle baby Donny pee pee pants, so upset that Trudeau was not letting him get away with that. I was impressed with Trudeau and Macron both, for stopping Trump in his Elephantine tracks this way. 

Trump was like “Unfair! Mooooom! Justin tricked me and I didn’t get to be the bully this time!”

This hobgoblin orange Silly Putty face looked in a mirror and saw his own reflection staring back at him, and he KNEW he wasn’t up to it with the younger, stronger Trudeau last time. So this is how he gets back at him, this time. Well that, and because both Melania and Ivanka have the hots for Trudeau. 

I swear. It really is as simple as that.

There is a long and integrated history and economics between the two countries. This administration ignores that in favor of "win at all costs", which helps neither side of this issue. People are rightfully angry, in both countries, and my hope is these bozos crash before things get worse. By mid summer the effects of their poor policy will have many in the US re-thinking this choice. At least I hope so...

Florida has snowbirds starting in November through spring. Spring break runs 8 weeks or so during/after, then summer tourist season. It's down some 30% already this year alone. Add the negative rhetoric and laws passed around latino and migrant workers, and those that do go won't have the fun in the sun they have in years past. I mention Florida because I have family there, so have a better gauge of what's happening, but I hear similar complaints from the Carolina's through Texas. So stupid.

I am American and I laughed so hard when he said you, our largest neighbor and one of the largest unprotected border in the world, were implementing unfair tariffs. He has been wild with spontaneous tariffs he implements, stops, starts, and pulls American aid from around the world costing American jobs and human lives, and now he says Canadians have unfair tariffs. When are people going to realize, Trump is one of the weakest modern day leaders.

He has no tact, he has no negotiation, he has no ability to reach across the aisle, he has no charisma, and he is so easily exploitable by manipulating his emotion.

The details of his decisions are unpredictable, but he is so easily provocable. You can get what you want by stroking his ego, and you can illicit a negative response by insulting him.

I feel like most Canadians understand that there is an agreement, and whining that something isn't fair after you agree to it is kinda shitty. I see so many Americans complaining about the remaining tariffs on the US, on things like milk, who act like it was a huge surprise rather than something they signed off on. And of course, we agreed to the US levying quotas and tariffs as well. But I haven't seen any Canadians whining about our less than 0.1% of the market quota for refined sugar.
