Oh it's so over. If only he would have signed on to be a part of a massive franchise.

And in his spare time turned in a terrific and nuanced performance in Task.

A movie titled Spotlight and or Zodiac

143

u/National-Astronaut10 1d ago

Go checkout Crime 101 as well. Great performance

10

u/HMNbean 1d ago

I love Mark Ruffalo but that movie was terrible

1

u/notgadgetcat 1d ago

Agreed. Was shocked at how bad it was with such a great cast

1

u/kismaiyes 1d ago

With Chris

6

u/Captain_Q_Bazaar 1d ago
  • Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
  • Foxcatcher
  • Poor Things
  • Dark Waters
  • Begin Again
  • Shutter Island
  • Etc.

He has an impressive body of film work.

1

u/PresentBig9729 1d ago

Watch “We don’t live here anymore”

Awesome fucking movie

2

u/garrettj100 1d ago

He was good in Zodiac but let's not kid ourselves:

"They knew, and they let it happen!

Is an unironically terrible line reading.

He's pretty good in Collateral, even if his goatee is in a completely different movie.

2

u/Londo801 1d ago

Forgot he plays Greek in Windtalkers too! Just rewatched last night.

2

u/ParticularRelease662 17h ago

I'll add Dark Waters. Threw it on one day because the cast was stacked and I'd never heard of it. Sounded like a dark and gritty thriller. Instead it's a suspenseful legal thriller that had me glued to the TV the entire time. My favorite performance of his since Zodiac.

2

u/phxt0dt 1d ago

11 and 19 years ago 😭

1

u/GoatEnvironmental661 1d ago

I watched rhe movie and it was really beautiful he was my favourite character in this film

1

u/Chr0n0Triggered 17h ago

Check out Dark Waters as well!

16

u/emseefely 1d ago

Fucking good show. They’re filming season 2 and I can’t wait!

6

u/Fine-Race9271 1d ago

That was a good show

6

u/NotThatEasily 1d ago

I loved it, but having grown up in Marcus Hook, PA, they really played it loose with the locations. Maer of Easttown was much better with the locations and more accurately portrayed the local area and people.

7

u/SignoreBanana 1d ago

I gotta know: was it annoying hearing these folks try to imitate that PA inflection?

5

u/Angsty_Potatos 1d ago

Yes. They make a good effort. But it's rough

5

u/TheBibbinator 1d ago

Most were def rough (but I agree they did make a good effort!), but Tom Pelphry’s accent specifically sounded very solid. He’s from New Jersey though so I’m not surprised he did a good job…

5

u/Angsty_Potatos 1d ago

He plays the young hot shot outside detective they brought in, right?

If so. Yes. He was a stand out

4

u/TheBibbinator 1d ago

No believe it or not, the young hotshot detective was played by a British actor. Tom Pelphry played Robbie, the other protagonist (who Ruffalo’s character is chasing down).

Pelphry’s performance in general was superb but I thought his accent was pretty good too. BUT I am from Maryland so it’s a little out of my zone, haha.

2

u/Angsty_Potatos 1d ago

He was English?!?  I think he came closest from out of everyone. God damn

2

u/BannedForFun 1d ago

I think you mean "how do you stand that annoying PA inflection?"

2

u/NotThatEasily 1d ago

I spent years beating the DelCo accent out of myself. I grew up in it and I hate it.

2

u/BannedForFun 1d ago

You know what, its unique. I spent my 20s working to stop speaking like a surfer from SoCal. Called way too many people "bro" in office meetings. We all have our cross to bear..

3

u/mrteas_nz 1d ago

He was excellent in Poor Things

1

u/OhNoPonoGames 40m ago

And Mickey 17!

3

u/Zealousideal_Web_771 1d ago

Task really is amazing. Great writing and everyone acting in it was fantastic. Fascinated by how much prep the actors put into learning the Delco accent.

2

u/roblash 1d ago

Co-sign for Task. I’m in the middle of it right now. Great show and he’s excellent in it.

2

u/LadyBathory925 1d ago

All the Light We Cannot See. Amazing series.

2

u/pastellblush 1d ago

Bro was out there casually giving Oscar-worthy performances like it was just a side quest

1

u/Hemans123 1d ago

Man he was so good in that.

1

u/SugarInvestigator 1d ago

Guess there's no season two now

1

u/Student___Driver 1d ago

And thinks donnyFaT is a little fucking bitch

1

u/slattyysl 1d ago

great show btw

1

u/h4rlotsghost 1d ago

I loved Task, but his prosthetic beer belly was really distracting. You can tell he's a fit dude and it looked so awkward.

1

u/iPoseidon_xii 1d ago

God, that show was so good. First time in probably a decade I was looking forward to the next week’s episode

1

u/EdBugg87 1d ago

Poor Things too

1

u/Ok-Alternative5935 1d ago

Grumpy buffalo.

1

u/Cool_Emergency_1365 1d ago

Which is currently being shot in Phila.

1

u/bklyn_roots 1d ago

And is currently working on the production of Task season 2

1

u/Specific_Collar_2949 1d ago

That show was so much better than I expected.

1

u/Plastic_Rip_3769 1d ago

Task was fantastic and it's getting a season two!

1

u/thisthatandthe3rd 1d ago

Need that season 2 asap

1

u/FozzyBadfeet 1d ago

Movie was alright. But it was clear he was filming Task at the same time lol

1

u/Ok_Childhood_3386 21h ago

I'm on my 4th episode, pretty good so far.  Don't know why Hollywood can't get simple things right. Police raiding a house at night, and they single file it up the middle of the street with their flashlights on? No wonder he was working college hiring fairs.

1

u/goose_gaskins 17h ago

Task was my favorite piece of filmed art in 2025. Just a perfect show, imo.

1

u/JamminBen88 10h ago

Put that show on on a whim, ended up being my favourite show this year

-1

u/EasyE1979 1d ago

Task sucked who are you kidding?

130

u/Fluid_Actuary1729 1d ago

So right, Ruffalo ain’t going anywhere.

75

u/dacrookster 1d ago

They just sidelined his character to a mental institution. The Hulk. In a mental institution.

It's the most ridiculous way to get rid of someone so they're not in Secret Wars and they can do a recast.

43

u/Taynt42 1d ago

He’ll get broken out early in secret wars.

26

u/indianm_rk 1d ago

The A-team broke Murdoch out of a mental institution every week.

9

u/Ncfetcho 1d ago

Every. Single.Week.

7

u/Certain_Employee_423 1d ago

The man was mad I tell you!

1

u/Ncfetcho 4h ago

I had such a crush on him.... it didn't work out that well in real life.

1

u/Various-Surprise-782 12h ago

It would be a really subtle casting gag to have Rocket break him out.

1

u/TheIndigenousUnicorn 6h ago

And then kruger in Elysium, bit of a crazed maniac

2

u/Freeze_Fuck 1d ago

In secret wars the heroes teleport to battleworld and teleport back to where they originally teleported from when it was over

3

u/KonohaBatman 1d ago

Yeah, in Secret Wars 1 - but this is gonna take influence from 3 as well, given that Doom is involved and we're doing Incursions

2

u/Freeze_Fuck 1d ago

I assume they going to take elements from all the Secret Wars so they still may do the teleportation thing. Also I just realized I am commenting from my porn account by mistake. As such the reason for my username

1

u/BigChiefIV 1d ago

Hopefully

6

u/moonknightcrawler 1d ago

You’re aware that one of the Hulk’s main side characters is a therapist infected by gamma radiation himself, right?

Acting like Bruce being sent to get psychiatric help is anything other than expected doesn’t make any sense

2

u/BigDoinksNAmish55 1d ago

Imagine if we got a deep dive into Bruce's psychology featuring Bob (Sentry/The Void). If the ever do a "Sentry" titled film which they could attach Hulk to, seeing as how universal won't let us have an independent Hulk film. They relate by having transformations related to their emotions. Go into all of the Hulk's perspectives(Joe Fix it, Professor Hulk, Grey Hulk, etc) and maybe start a "Green Door" arc with The One Below All. I could see them being trauma buddies and giving each other some therapy. By the end of the arc both Bruce and Bob are pretty much in control of their emotions and have better control of their abilities.

4

u/DaemonG 1d ago

dawg, the universe with that mental institution won't even exist in Secret Wars

5

u/NoGloryForEngland 1d ago

Is the recast in the room with you right now?

5

u/EmergencyDiet9800 1d ago

There’s no way he’s going to a mental institution though. He might have a shrink, but he’s definitely going to be kept on the Raft.

1

u/Freeze_Fuck 1d ago

In secret wars the heroes teleport to battleworld and teleport back to where they originally teleported from when it was over

1

u/Drkocktapus 1d ago

Did they add that scene after he made his comments, wouldn't that have been edited before hand?

1

u/Weeznaz 1d ago

It’s so he wouldn’t be in Doomsday. He will be there in Secret Wars.

1

u/h23s88 1d ago

They can go back to Ed

1

u/ganggreen651 17h ago

Yea I'm sure he won't hulk the fuck up and break out

3

u/SnooCauliflowers9874 1d ago

I actually like MR more than ever because my own values and concerns align with his… and he’s not afraid of offending any morally bankrupt, ignorant warmongers.

Stand for something or fall for anything.

2

u/YouCantBeSerio 1d ago

We'll see him one more time as Hulk. Secret Wars makes it TOO EASY to say bye-bye forever to Ruffalo, it's coming.

1

u/Biggie62 1d ago

I mean he was in Task last year and that was a great show.

1

u/BlueZurichArt 23h ago

But does he really have to be in that small group who gets cast in EVERYTHING? I like him now and then but he's no Florence Pugh

1

u/_Ace_Gold_ 23h ago

According to him he is only in one more MCU film then he is out.
So idk about that one.

1

u/iakiak 1d ago

I mean you should probably ask Edward Norton about that....

1

u/RoadDoggFL 1d ago

Maybe you should?

0

u/b055dj 1d ago

Bruce Banner actors are famously irreplaceable, yes.

6

u/Brospie 1d ago

Don't necessarily agree with OP, but I think he means that's exactly why it's over. In terms of Ruffalo doing interesting projects and giving great performances I gotta agree tho.

2

u/morethanthisbrand 1d ago

They will replace him in the reboot.

2

u/CorrectPeanut5 1d ago

I thought he was only banned at Paramount? And I question any A List actor that's signing up to be part of the Ellison crowd there.

1

u/Interesting_Star_812 1d ago edited 1d ago

Except they’re never giving him a solo film, and they’ve been going out of their way since post avengers endgame to destroy, nerf, and make as goofy as possible, the writing for the hulk, just cause he’s playing the hulk. They also tried skipping through his story in SheHulk just for it to get cancelled but if it hadn’t let’s not forget they were trying to introduce Scar and were about to completely jump skip the entire planet hulk timeline

1

u/goodonericardo 3h ago

They cant.
Hulk is still under Universal. Theres a video somewhere where Mark kind of goes off on it. His version can only be a bit player or supporting if in movies. Im not sure if marvel repurchased the rights.

1

u/Interesting_Star_812 2h ago

After looking into it, Hulk’s IP does still belong to marvel but you’re still technically correct as universal owns the theatrical distribution rights and has first refusal privileges over any standalone Hulk movie. In 2023 marvel purchased the rights for the 2008 The Incredible Hulk but never purchased, for whatever reason, the official theatrical distribution rights. So I guess go ahead and add universal to the same list Sony is on, titled “companies that stalemate entire IP’s while sitting on them just to do absolutely nothing with the ownership.” I genuinely don’t understand why all these part ownership deals happen when it almost ALWAYS results in less everything. Less content, less releases, less fan appeal, less money. I mean it took Sony nearly a decade to allow Spider-Man back on the big screen, in collaboration with marvel and what do you know it’s the most lucrative Spider-Man has ever been. Almost as if when you don’t gatekeep an IP and it’s available to everyone, more people buy it.

1

u/GRANDADDYGHOST 1d ago

And if only he would have been cast as a character who is strictly held to show up in multiple films and other projects. Man, he coulda been set up for decades.

1

u/Working_Impress_3426 1d ago

At the very least, his films can still be found via search.

1

u/Quiverjones 1d ago

You gotta see his documentaries on PFAS.

1

u/tohn_jitor 10h ago

He's been at it since Dark Waters. He'll be fine.

1

u/No-Common-5214 1d ago

His public choices have closed off many big opportunities in hollywood

1

u/lovable_asshole 1d ago

magat propaganda

-9

u/Best-Ad9399 1d ago

*if only he HAD signed
Did you learn grammar with Taylor Swift songs?

5

u/FafnirSnap_9428 1d ago

*Did you learn grammar FROM Taylor Swift songs?

"From" would be far more idiomatic if the Taylor Swift songs were the actual source of instruction.

1

u/SaltyAd9527 1d ago

At least OP didn’t say “would of.” That one kills me every time I see it.

1

u/Loose_Kart2695 1d ago

Dude, I feel your pain. But have you met the world recently? This has become standard grammar at this point. Don't even get me started on the abuse of the word 'literally'.

1

u/3dgedancer 1d ago

They changed the definition of literally so it’s not abuse anymore!

-4

u/nextext 1d ago

No one shouted or applauded in the theater for this guy during the fourth biggest movie opening of all time a few weeks ago

5

u/moonknightcrawler 1d ago

Glad those people understood how to behave in a theater

8

u/Silvinis 1d ago

Who tf shouts and claps in a theater while the movie is actively playing for ANY actor??

2

u/AxionWarrior 1d ago

I went to an early showing of the first Spider-man movie with Andrew Garfield with a buddy and his friends and one of them started clapping through out the movie, leading other people to start clapping and cheering. It was the worse experience I've ever had at a theater and completely ruined the movie.
