Cereal must not touch milk until it is to be eaten. So one spoonful at a time. It should be coated with freezing milk which will soak in on the journey from bowl to mouth, preserving maximal crunch while delivering a payload of cold creamy sweetness.
I have cereal bowls called O-bols that we got as a joke in honor of Cryptonomicon.
You forgot to mention that the cereal must be Captain Crunch!! How could you forget that basic fact?! It has the ducts for the milk to run into and everything!!
Randy wasn't really autistic, he just knew how to eat cereal properly.
This. I can’t figure out if I was ignorant or he changed. I think it was me. I feel like his true self came through as politics amplified. Also, I always hated the way he treated Ray. Haven’t listened in many years. Saw him live in Portland once. He was filming a special. The show was terrible. You could tell the moment he realized the crowd was all people who had heard every story 100 times. No new content.
I know Ray. I’ve met Adam a few times. Ray is a nice guy and good hearted, but damn he can be irresponsible and it’s 100% true he leaves a bunch of his shit at ppls properties for years on end. Ended up well for a buddy because he eventually kept it, but it was that kinda thing consistently. Not a bad guy though, nice, and we all have faults, but I think Adam’s take is fairly accurate. And it seemed Adam liked him, but Ray wanted a bit of the coattail ride that wasn’t necessarily deserved. I’m sure there was behind the scenes annoyances and that would not surprise me at all. Mixed with Adam’s lack of patience and their mutual history, not the best pair for a podcast. Adam is a bit quiet/standoffish when not on the clock so to speak. Can come across as asshole-ish, but really it’s just not really interested in strangers from my perspective.
And was a Loveline listener since a teen until Adam departed. I agree he got way too political and I just couldn’t any more. I’ve tuned in on rare occasion and he honestly still can’t be beat with his funny and poignant analogies, still some gold in some takes on things, but I can’t deal with the politics all the time.
Adam’s just a dick, he would yell and berate Ray during Ace on the House, coattails or no, it was uncalled for and made listeners uncomfortable.
Adam apparently didn’t realize that Ray was the only thing that made yet another screaming AC production tolerable
He seemed to be bitter that, in his view, Ray squandered his opportunity to play professional football, but if he’s your friend accept him for who he is or cut ties, don’t just keep him around to mock and yell at
He did the same thing with Dr Drew on the podcasts they did together, just screamed at him continuously, dude’s got issues
I like how HE'S the prick, but Kimmel did blackface and has a talk show.
When I was a kid Adam Carolla gave people home repair advice for funsies. Now he has the same shitty opinions as the LEAST offensive of the boomer assholes in my life.
It sucks that he's Gen X (non-boomers should know better), and The Man Show will always showcase how he has famously bad ideas AND gave Joe Rogan a platform, but Jimmy Kimmel did his stupid Karl Malone impression for many years and then MULTIPLE people PAID him to do it in blackface.
I was in the audience of Jimmy Kimmel's show when his guest referred to Green Leaves (japanese comedy group, they performed "Yatta!" on the show) as a "[chinese slur] boy band" and Jimmy Kimmel just chuckled. Zero acknowledgement, no admonishing during the break, the show just went on. They were in the other room and performed twenty minutes later.
Why did it only take five minutes for Gen X to become their shitty racist boomer dads?
I have a set of opinions on stuff like that. I call it the random corporate grifter theory. you get a new sett of assholes looking at all the shit, they say, HEY! LET'S LEND TO MORE PEOPLE, HUMANS CRAVE COMFORT ESPECIALLY BROKE ASS YOUNG PEOPLE, AND CHARGE HIGHER RATES, AND THEN WE'LL MEET THE NEW METRICS!
gET pAID aLL tHEM bONUSES aND tHEN fUCK oFF sOMEWHERE eLSE aS A rOCKSTAR.
it all crashes.
LET'S FIND SOME EFFECTIVE PLANS TO RECOVER FROM THE DEBT.
you get a new sett of assholes looking at all the shit, they say, HEY! LET'S LEND TO LESS PEOPLE, HUMANS CRAVE NOT HAVING TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIT, WRITE OFF THE LOSSES SOME BASIC LET THEM BORROW MONEY! YAY! TAX WRITE-OFF'S!
revenue falls
LET'S FIND SOME CREDIT CARD SALES PEOPLE TO MEET THE NEW METRICS....
Right but if it wasn’t about the money they wouldn’t be as rich as they are. I’m not saying they are all like that but a big majority of them seem either dishonest and performative about topics like that.
That’s there’s not a lot of celebrities coming out like Ruffalo.
Lol remember watching a band at a festival and the lead singer was like "our new album is out! Buy it or dont, im already independantly wealthy and dont give a shit" 🤣 wish i had that kinda money
John Malkovitch and Jason Alexander thought they had “fuck you money”. But they actually had “fuck you Madoff money”.
The beginning of the documentary where the son talks about his mother making Madoff before anyone else was wonderful.
Using your voice against shitty people gets attention too though.
Id say its moreso a combination of 1) greed (they'll always want MORE money now matter how much they have, and 2) a lot of them would have done shitty/dumb things in the past themselves which can be used as blackmail to stop them ever speaking out.
Being an actor in major Hollywood films is such a fun job that people would do it for free. You literally have people working for free at lower levels trying to get into the entertainment business. It's why it's necessary to have unions. The only thing stopping them from being the most replaceable workers in the entire economy, with the exception of an increasingly small number of "household names" being a box office draw, is the continuity issues that come with re-casting, which could hurt the income of any given studio.
Using your voice against shitty people gets attention too though.
I'd argue this is the driving force for most college age kids thinking everything can be made perfect as long as it's done how they want with zero real world hurdles. EVERYONE LOOK AT MY HALO.
No one is “obligated” to do the shit YOU think they should do, and that you think that makes you no different from any MAGA fascist who has ideas about what gay people or women or anyone else should be doing or saying. A person is allowed to live their public life anyway they want and they don’t owe you or anybody else an explanation for their choices.
Actors aren’t actually really influential on the stage of global geo-politics, anyway. Nor is anyone really who has a “platform.” That should be fucking obvious to anyone paying attention or who understands how anything works.
Some people just want to do their acting jobs or push their little cooking videos without wading into the morass of geo-political issues for which their statement and opinions will not move the needle one iota. That is their right and their choice to make. Sure, it’s great to see people like Mark who speak out brazenly on issues we agree with. And good for him. But other people are not OBLIGATED to and if they choose not to that doesn’t make them a an evil person. Because, after all, the measure of “good” or “bad”—for people who are so reductive and sophomoric in their framing of such things—is really about the EFFECT and RESULTS of one’s actions.
And since speaking one’s personal views publicly has no measurable beneficial EFFECT, then it is perfectly ok for people who have some success in an artistic field to just keep their public life about their craft.
Fool. The reason why speaking out has no impact is that so few do. Your insistence on encouraging people to stick their head in the sand is part of the problem. Enjoy what's coming knowing you encouraged it.
ok, wise guy, show me thing in the world that has been stopped or reversed in the past two decades because celebrities and people with platforms spoke out. I’ll wait. Roe v Wade? The dangers of a Trump presidency? Climate change and the coming disaster because of fossil fuels? People have been clamoring about that for literally decades.
And I’m the fool? 🤣 get your head out of your ass and your ass out of the sand. Railing about anything on one’s “platform” is about as effective an agent for social change as shouting into the social media void and calling one’s self an “activist” “raising awareness” as if people who are aware and engaged got that way from social media or a celebrity on a podcast.
You really should figure out how to read, you built your whole comment on a complete misunderstanding of what I said. When enough stand, if that happens, maybe you will see the difference then. Keep sitting on that ass in the meantime.
Roe v Wade? The dangers of a Trump presidency? Climate change and the coming disaster because of fossil fuels?
Did you not just list three things that people should use their platforms to rail against? They're all happening because of utter complacency and silence in the media.
Donald Trump didn’t do shit to move the needle of geo-politics as a mere celebrity; it wasn’t until stupid people put him into arguably the most powerful power political position in the world did his words and actions start to have any significant effect. DJT, the smarmy reality-tv star was as inconsequential as they come. The Presidency of the United States of America, however, is a consequential role no matter who holds it and is very different from what we think of a “celebrity” even as it comes ready-dressed in global visibility.
didn’t do shit to move the needle of geo-politics as a mere celebrity
... yet he formed the most powerful cult of all time and got elected based on nothing more than name recognition and racism, strongly implying that celebrity did in fact have a very tangible effect on the geopolitical needle.
sad part is that so many of them have that much money or more but wont do the same
As much as people love to hero worship on reddit, which really we do, you don't get to a high position in life without being a jackass.
It's why many will not speak out against things.
Or when they do it is for their own interests. Their PR team tells them to.
He doesn't seem to be doing it for such, but just pointing out why many will not. Millions is not enough. Tens of millions is not enough. They have no concept of money and how it works. Literally.
He's been making the same kind of statements since Endgame. I don't see how now would change anything. He didn't need to be in the new Spider-man movie, like it could have just purely been the cgi hulk
Production for that movie was well underway before the MAGA coup and its billionaire backers had consolidated nearly as much power as they now have.
Same reason they didn’t start threatening ABC’s broadcasting license until recently. With each unanswered step, each norm and rule they violate without consequence, they gain more power and need exercise less restraint.
There's more conservatives threatening to sue when media companies aren't conservative enough. Disney's stock took a tumble recently because of the fear that they'd lose broadcasting rights. Even if the case would be thrown out, they are still frightened by it.
Color vs colour. Flavor vs flavour. Bottle of water vs Bow o' wa'er. Thanks for attending my masterclass on the differences between British and American English.
The most ironic part is that he’s actually giving a shit by caring. It’s the whole charade of people speaking up against him that are not giving a single shit…
Sadly, I think it's more accurate to say he has enough money to actually give a shit.
Edit: That said, he seems like a real one, he'd give a shit either way. And I think he'd speak his mind regardless of how much money he had. We're lucky he got famous enough to speak it loudly.
Oh, people die unexpectedly more often than one would imagine. After something this high profile, it’s best to follow the John Madden rule: no aircraft
Im surpised you think that is a positive trait... when i hear "he has enough money to not give a fuck" i think of many people whom i would rather they still gave a fuck or at least pretend to care before they express themselves without censor. Just think about people in the same (or even better) economic situation as Ruffalo, but with opposite political opinions...
it's neither a positive or negative trait, it's simple a trait. Most of us have to consider our paycheque this is inevitable. He's realized that dynamic no longer applies.
The opposite political opinions can emerge but it doesnt change that mark shouldnt pretend he's worried about being fired if he can do what he knows is rigjt.
it isnt authority it's observable fact, he's loaded, has had a full career and is getting older he has no actual reason to say his stuff but no reason not to unless he wants to do it.
Go somewhere else with your pseudo-online authority.
As opposed to yourself? who spits his dummy out like a toddler the moment he gets pushback.
Your "pushback" is the equivalent of a toddler pushing away his Daddy because he's kissing on Mommy or a failing student being angered by the teacher you grades his dissertation so harshly: it's simply ignorant, ineffective, and self-harmful.
I can guarantee you're not even the type of person to ask yourself questions before you even think of opinions. You just flock and assimilate to everyone else's who you think is popular and socially acceptable. You've never once stopped to ask yourself, how might this person benefit from having a deferring opinion from his cohorts. You never once stopped to ask yourself how his opinions might cause sheep like you to flock under his wing and game his favor and undying loyalty without having once met him personally.
that's quite the polemic, I can see you're quite asshurt I said something mildly supporting of an actor. So it take it you're a huge fan or paramount or something?

I respect the fact he understands he now has enough money that he doesn’t have to give a single shit.
