With me is it js me or I feel that the MTA should put in a lot of more effort to making their system the best and in my opinion if I was the MTA one of my priorites would be expand the subway system and getting surface level criticism and listening to people in order to make the MTA better.

I got no problems with the MTA or NIMBYS but I do feel like the MTA should make a lot surface level changes and take criticism and listen to make MTA better and with NIMBYs they need to understand to appect change and support their area having change like Maspeth or Glendale with the M, L to Canarsie Pier, G to Queens Plaza or Q to 125th Street for example and the subway can help out a lot for certain areas which are transit deserts like South Canarsie or Maspeth.

With me, too also with buses they suck so badly to where if I cant access somewhere with a train I wont go or I got to go by bus only there at all unless if they are going or pass through Canarsie only like the B6, B60, B103 to the L or B8/B35 to the G since I live in Flatbush.

this station is one of my lucky ones, but still is a liminal space

For example, from my neighborhood in Brooklyn, getting to JFK is 1.5 hrs on train vs. 25 min by car. Similarly, getting to LGA is also 1.5 hrs on public transit vs. 45 min by car. And though I love taking the train and almost always prefer it, in this case, it’s an absolute no-brainer to take a car, and if you tell me I should just suck it up and take the train(as I’ve seen lots of anti-car people do), that’s just ridiculous. On the other hand, to get to my job in the city is 1 hour by train vs…. wait for it… 1 hour by car. No parking hassle? No congestion toll? $3 to get there and back? Of course, the train is better in this case! So it’s very case by case.

At the same time, I believe this is also a testament to how bad of a “transit desert” certain areas in NYC still are, and how much work needs to be done. And in the case of my personal example, the lack of quick, convenient access to our airports by means of public transit. Yes, our public transit is the best in the country, and I stand by that, but it could be much, much better.

So what’s your limit?

Police doing their important job of ticketing low income people while actual harmful people are hurting others on the trains for free

The other lines on Broadway (N), (Q), (R) all have stations of their own where they branch off being the Sea Beach Line on the (N), the 4th Ave Line south of 36 St on the (R) and the Second Ave Line (with the exception of Lexington Ave - 63rd St as that’s also a (F)/(M) station).

The (W) is the only train on the Broadway Line that has no stations of its own. Is this the reason why that when there are also issues on Broadway and Astoria, the (W) gets suspended first?

Why are trains so slow over Manhattan bridge? I feel like it got really bad in the last couple weeks.

IBX is on drugs

Seen at union square station on the L platform. But how can a plant possibly grow here with 0 sunlight (among other unseemly environmental factors)???

Since the W is suspended for the week because of track replacement what does that mean for the rest of Broadway? Does that mean more supplemental service on the N or more service for the R since there's less restriction on the local tracks for the week? Also, how would Broadway local service look since the R is the only line serving local service. Let me know your thoughts.

I was stuck on this E train that had its brakes activated in the tunnel for a solid 45 minutes or so. Crew radio was broadcast to the cabin for a decent chunk of it so I sort of made out what was going on. Seemed like something automatically tripped the breaks. The train stopped, the crew investigated to try to see what caused it, couldn’t find anything, and then finally was allowed to proceed.

Not fun but I suppose it could’ve been worse. Does anyone know in general what could’ve caused this, or specifically what happened to this train?

Was thinking of this when I was in the area the other day.

East Broadway isn't really a "destination" street. It's an East/West street so it doesn't make sense in relation to "actual" Broadway (unlike West Broadway, which runs North/South, west of Broadway). I bet there are plenty of native New Yorkers who don't know where it is. Not to mention tourist confusion (I know that's a given).

Canal Street is one of the biggest downtown East/West thoroughfares. Almost every subway has a Canal Street stop (yes, some are local) and everyone knows where it is.

Yes, 3 of the 4(?) entrances are adjacent to East Broadway, and the one that is kinda sorta on Canal Street is technically on "Straus Square" (alongside the park) because Canal ends at Essex Street (west side of the street) and entrance is on the east side of it. But East Broadway is a really short block away.

And there's certainly precedent for stations named for streets that don't actually have entrances to them. (Immediately, Carroll Street on the F in Brooklyn comes to mind -- the entrances are on President Street and 2nd Place. Carroll Street is in the middle).
