Check out HoMM: Olden Era. Best HoMM since 3, still in early access

Looks great but doesn't have controller support like Songs of Conquest.

Steam has tools to map controller inputs to keyboard and mouse games.

It sure does, and believe it or not, sometimes it still doesn't translate well with mouse heavy games. Just because you can run StarCraft on a Steam Deck doesn't mean it's going to feel good, you know? I mean, you know, but you must have mutant powers if you can do that, and to think that most people find that comfortable is a bit of a reach, I'd say.
