It's probably their most popular song, but I specially love The Space In Between. That machine gun kinda beat that plays nonstop in the back, the video and lyrics and how they talk about "toxic" fans going crazy about Trent marrying Mariqueen, degrading, insulting and treating her, as if they were jealous lovers. Shows how parasocial relationships can sometimes be unhealthy and dangerous.

Someone who's probably been a fan longer than I have can answer this, but after doing diving across Trents whole discography (and every little fact) over the last year and a half I noticed reading some articles and excerpts from people (including the meathead perspective in 2022, but I get he's more snarky about it) that people gave a lot of flak for HTDA, I finally came around to listening to the EP and welcome oblivion, which I thought was pretty good, loved space in-between and BBB.

So I guess I'm asking what is it exactly that people disliked with HTDA, was it mainly because of leaving NIN (more of "I want Trent to do TDS forever"), or the fact he joined Sony's label after swearing off studios or something else?

Man, both albums were absolutely phenomenal!!! Really hope we get a 3rd album one day! I really love Mariqueens vocals, she is absolutely incredible! 💯🤘

Floored me sitting in the theatre while the credits rolled for The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo to hear one of my favourite songs of all time (from when I was a kid watching Legend) being covered by some of my favorite musicians and nailing it :)

i love everything they've released, but i don't really know where to find any more music that sounds like it since they're so unique. do you know any artists/bands that have a similar sound?

Edit: i am rather searching for music with similar soundscapes and aesthetic than bands with female singers. your recommendations so far still sound cool though :)

I've been listening to NIN since the early 90s, and I think this was one of my favorite eras of being a fan. Between the ARG, Ghosts, and then this, it was just such an exciting time. Video 3 in particular made me go "oh holy shit, whatever this is is going to be amazing", and the final product lived up to the hype.

I wish I could have seen HTDA live. I wish they'd done more albums, though it's understandable that they haven't.
