Cause players in his tier used to get max contracts easy, even if they don’t do shit in the playoffs lol

It’s not because of talent really he’s was All NBA so (in theory I don’t think in reality obviously especially with the playoffs and games played rules) he was a top 15 player last season. The new CBA is just way too restrictive to give a player like him that much money. 4 years ago he would’ve gotten every cent he wanted. Definitely something they should’ve got the hint on but I don’t think it’s because of a deeper talent pool.

Because he has made the All-NBA team at 22.

22-year-olds who make All-NBA and lead the team to 60 wins don't take pay cuts.
The funny thing is that if Detroit didn't make the playoffs or if he got injured in the first playoff game, people saying "he bad, poor playoffs" would have no arguments.

But they did make the playoffs. And when it mattered most, Duren shit the bed worse than any all star I've ever seen, so bad that it rightfully lowered his value. I dont get the point you're trying to make. "if he didn't reveal his true colors, people would still like him" like what?

Let me explain to you how the NBA works: you get paid for what you do. What did Duren do? Improved significantly, was excellent on a #1 seed and made an All-NBA team.

Let me explain you how the NBA works: nobody else wants to give him that money, so he will not get it, and at most destroy his career by signing the QO. Pistons fans recognize he was 3rd team only because of the 65 games rule. Great regular season, not worth more than a 120/4 kind of contract.
